[[ Beneath the trenches of the cold and dark waters,
lies secrets that were left buried with the dead ]]
"Another fencing lesson done and over with" Adrian groaned, fluffing his hair out with his hand. The sweat dripped down his face to his neck. The outfits didn't help, only kept the sweat in and trapped so his body hardly had any relief from the heat of the workout he just did. He was dying to get out of the clothes.
"Best one yet, you're ready for the tournament in a few days" his best friend, Nino complimented, giving the blonde a thumbs up whilst he typed on his phone with the other.
Adrien pursed his lips, not wanting to give a disgusted look just at the thought of his friends comment. Sure, he liked fencing, as a fun little sport to do every once in awhile but actually competing? He didn't feel the compelling need to really be so intrigued. His father is usually the one that insists and insists on doing things like competitions and winning.
But in the end, he's doing what his father asks of him, not so much on his own free will.
What compelled and called out to him was a sense of adventure. Traveling down to places he wants to go to and simply relax with no schedule. His mother used to talk to him about her great plans, how to enjoy every little moment. He wants to be a little bit of a normal kid other than a fashion artist son. Being a somewhat of a celebrity has its own challenges which is unfortunate. So, Adrien simply sucks in and deals what comes to him, he could only hope something give him that sort of luck.
"Let's stop by the bakery down the street before you go home? There's some bread my moms ordered that I gotta pick up" Nino sighed, adjusting his blue cap on his head. Adrien shrugged but smiled at him. Anything to get him out of the house for a little bit would surely make his day a better.
As the two travelled down the sidewalks of Paris to the bakery, Nino picked up the conversation once more.
"You doing anything this weekend?"
"Not that i know of. You want to get the guys together for some games?" Adrien asked.
"Well man, I'm all up for it but it's almost the end of the school year, there's a festival goin on down at the pier that Chloe's having"
Adrien seemed to have forgotten about that. His eyes lit up in slight surprise which cause Nino to stifle out a laugh.
"You forgot huh" he teased. Adrien rolled his eyes. "I didnt forget-"
"You so did! You know miss little 'too high in her ass to give a shit about anyone but herself' would never in a chance let you of all people forget about it" Nino snorted
"Just because we're childhood friends, doesn't mean she tell me everything" Adriens glared playfully at Nino.
"She may not but she has definitely taken the chance to just mention it at least once for the last two weeks" The two stopped in the front of the bakery. Nino opened the door and the two walk inside with the owners giving them a warm welcome.
"Ah, you're here to pick up the bread right?"
"Yes ma'am"
"Let me go grab it and finish the packaging. It'll just be a minute" the woman nodded and left to the back.
The bakery was small, but a cozy little store. Just enough people to fit inside. Adrien has always seemed very fond of this place. Everything, including the furniture and food seemed to fit nice and neatly. Nino and Adrien took a seat as they waited, putting their attention to the flat screen the hung on the corner of one of the walls.
"We are here live with a few people down here at the pier where multiple witnesses state they have seen human remains washing up on the beach, just down below the pillars and rocks. Police are investigating, so far no video surveillance has been able to identify who the victims were or how this strange instance came to be. We will update once we have more information..."
The Tv news reporter began to drown as Adrien and Nino looked at each other briefly in disbelief.
"How's that even possible? A bunch of body parts just randomly appearing on the beach?" Nino scoffed.
"Maybe the murderer got tired of everything he had and just dumped it out in the ocean" Adrien answered casually. Nino stared at him horrified.
"That's gross man, people are gross. Wouldn't you think that would get caught on tape?" He questioned
Adrien shrugged, "I don't know, maybe whoever did this thought that far ahead to not get caught"
After a bit of time, the woman in the bakery came back in the room handing Nino the bread and the two teens headed off. Adrien stared at the video coverage on the TV screen for a few moments longer before his mind no longer held attention to the news.
"You know after seeing all that, Chloe should re think her party location" Nino mumbled.
"Maybe they'll have it cleared and solved by then" Adrien shrugged, seeming a little hopeful. Nino chuckled at his friends positivity.
"Let's hope so. I'm tryin' to go out and have a good time this weekend"
The two boys shared a laugh before parting ways and going to their respectful homes. Chillingly, Adrien couldn't help but get a sudden chill and feel like something was off about the new report. Maybe the fact that there was so little detail about the sudden appearance of cut up body parts was given to the public, Adrien seemed to think there would be more too it than that. But it also suddenly reminded him of his mother.
His mother just suddenly disappeared one night his parents go on their little out to sea date and just never returns. He always suspected his father wasn't giving him the whole truth and knew what happened to her more than he let on. Not telling the full story to the police and not wanting to deal with the consequences he could somewhat understand. He knew he'd never lay a finger on his mother and trusted that he wasn't the cause of her disappearance. But withholding that Information from his own child? He couldn't understand it.
They were family, why couldn't he just...let him in!
Adrien frowned as his thoughts wanted to conclude this even was even remotely connected to his mother. Was it that he was just trying to find an explanation for what happened? Trying to piece together things his own father has kept from him? He didn't know, he just wanted some answers. Maybe then, he would finally be at peace with him mind and heart.
It seemed he was just as desperate to figure things out just as his father was. Little did Adrien know that his father, was sitting in his study watching the news in surprise and horror thinking the exact same thing.
Maybe it is connected.
