VooDooed |Chapter Twenty-Six|

Truly helps Kade get situated and straightens out her own dress. "I'm goin' ta sneak off ta t'e louve ta get meself lookin' like I didn't jist get me world rocked."

"There's nothing wrong with that look. Ye happen ta wear it well." A smirk crosses his lips as Kade adjusts a few strands of pearls so that they're not tangled with her hair. "I'll get you a Guinness and meet up by the patio seating."

"Eh, maybe a whiskey or rum. I doubt it's real Guinness at t'is party."

"I'll see what they have and get you something good." He leans over and gives her a chaste kiss. "I'll see you soon."

Heading over to the bar to order their drinks, Kade joins Brandyn in line, only to have Gideon stride up to them. "Ghedi and Aba are here. They say it's urgent."

What? Has something happened to mom? "Why?"

"They didn't say," Gideon shrugs." Not that they normally do. The Adébáyọ̀s are often cryptic.

"Alright, where?"

"Around the side. They didn't want to attract attention."

Kade's attention turns to Brandyn. "Can yet get me a rum and if it's good whiskey get one for Truly, otherwise get her a rum as well." He pulls out a twenty euro and hands it to Brandyn. "I'll just be around the side."

Brandyn nods, sensing somethings off with Gideon. Keenly watching them as they disappear around the side of the building, he summons over his younger brother, Skylar, as he walks by.

Following Gideon around the side, Kade catches sight of Ghedi Adébáyọ̀s' large frame and long dreadlocks. To his right stands his sister, the heir of the Winters family, Aba, and one of Kade's fraternity brothers, Maven, on his right.

"Ghedi, Aba," Kade clasps Ghedi's arm in greeting as he nods politely to Aba since she's a mambo, a voodoo priestess. "You're an awful long way from Liberteria. What's happened ta warrant this?" The Adébáyọ̀s aren't known for straying out of northern Wintershall and, as a close family friend, he knows they refuse to step foot into Davelvon Island. Kade's expression turns serious as he eyes them both. "Did something happen ta me Omma?"

"No, she's fine. A great catastrophe bout tuh befall di islands an wi here tuh see dat it don't." Ghedi informs him as he scans behind Kade, looking for something or someone. "Yuh find di foul thing?" His eyes flick to Gideon, who shakes his head no.

What foul thing? A sense of unease fills Kade. This island is under Shane's control. They would need his permission to be here. "What exactly are ye hunting for? Did ye clear it with Davelvon's lieutenant governor?"

When Ghedi throws his sister a look, Kade knows they didn't. I'll have ta call Shane and let him know. "And the catastrophe you intend to stop? What do you need me help with?"

Ghedi shakes his head as he moves closer. "Wi nuh need yuh help. Wi need ta free yuh bruda before di siren sinks har claws too deep inna yuh."

Alarm flashes across Kade's eyes as his gaze snaps to Gideon and Maven, silently demanding to know what the hell one of them told them. "I'm under no one's thrall, much less a siren's."

"Yuh are brutha," Maven counters, "Gideon have seen it, so have I. Yuh've changed since she showed up. Yuh aren't yuhself."

Aware they have him outnumbered, and something here is seriously wrong with them, Kade takes a step back towards the party he foolishly left.

"Mi will deal wid di siren and free yuh, fear nuh." Aba cryptically says as her hand disappears into her purse to retrieve something.

Truly, Kade's stomach drops when he realizes who Ghedi has been hoping to see. "Yer mad, she's not a siren." His eyes flick to his first mate. "You know she's not. Tell them Gideon."

"She's a siren." The look in Gideon's eyes turns cold. "Twice I've seen her lure you into water. You're lucky she's yet to drag you to the depths. Something had to be done."

"You betrayed me? Yer own captain!?" Kade demands in Russian as his temper rises, and he begins to slowly make his way backward. "Traitor! May Davy Jones take ye. I banish ye from the Black Raven's fleet!" His cognac eyes harden as he eyes those he considered brothers. I'll let it destroy all of Winterfall before I let you harm her. You'll not touch my treasure. "Touch her and I'll re..." Kade's body suddenly tightens, and his words cut off, but it doesn't stop the Kraken's tear from pulsing as it warms beneath his shirt with his intent.

Tsking, Aba pulls out a cloth doll eerily made to look like him down to a piece of hair he somehow knows is his. With each wrap of her black thread, another part of his body seems to lock in place. "No more of dat." Aba decrees as shadows dance around her. "Wi cannot be having yuh turn di kraken against us tuh do har biddin'. Wi will free yuh of dis and rid di islands of di siren queen foreva."

Kade's eyes flare as he attempts to break free from her magic, but there's nothing he can do against one of Atlantis's greatest mambos.

From the shadows, Brandyn and Skylar watch quietly as Aba has Maven carry him away with the help of her shadows, only to still for a moment to address her brother and Gideon. "Find di siren. Bring har tuh mi. Kill har if yuh must."

Cursing inwardly in Russian, Brandyn drags his brother away. Time is of the essence. They have to find Truly first. It's what Kade would want, and they both know it. "Find her. She's likely near the patio. Tell the others sworn to the Broverns to help, but only in Russian," he decrees to Skylar, who nods, knowing the severity of the situation. "I don't care what you have to do. Get her to the ship. We'll only be safe in water with that witch here." Striding with a purpose, each boy disappears into the crowd.

As Truly comes out of the bathroom, she randomly spots Finn nearby, with his arm around a beautiful local girl with dark chocolate hair, a thin frame, and deep rich mahogany skin. The girl's yellow dress radiates off her, making her look like a sun goddess amongst mortal men. It shocks Truly that her brother could catch such a beauty.

Brandyn, Kade's perpetually moody friend, also catches her attention as he storms in hell-bent on something. Seeing her, his eyes zero in, and a sense of unease fills her as he angles for her. "You need to come with me, now." He commands, a hint of a Russian Ravenwood accent coats his words.

A frown draws across her face as she takes an uneasy step back. "What? Why?"

"I don't have time to explain." He grabs her arm and starts pulling her towards the exit.

"Let go of me!" Truly's voice raises as she jerks against his grip, gaining the attention of not only most of the room but Finn.

Without even an explanation to his date, Finn's arm drops off her waist and crosses the room in quick, long strides. A look of death is written on his face with the intent of making that boy get his hands off his sister by any means possible. Finn grabs Brandyn's arm and grips it hard while dislodging Truly from his grasp. "Get ye feckin' hands off me sista, and don't ye dare t'ink of tounchin' her again, unless ye want ta find yeself 2 metars deep."

Brandyn's expression hardens as he turns to Finn. "The only one who'll be dead will be her if she doesn't leave with me now," he darkly warns, used to dealing with Kade's elder brother Draken, who's a far more dangerous man in his eyes. "The Black Witch is here. She already has Ghedi hunting."

The moment he hears 'Black Witch' Finn shoves Truly outside so that no one else can hear.

Truly's heart drops to her stomach. "Where's Kade?"

"My schooner the Crow is in the harbor." Brandyn says to Finn, ignoring her question. "I can get ye both away from her influence." He's under no illusion the woman's shadows will be released next if they think she's left the building.

"We're gettin' ye off t'is bloody island." Finn's free hand falls to the small of her back and starts earnestly guiding her to his truck.

Truly jerks against Finn's grip. "I'm not leavin' without him!"

"Keep yer bloody voice down, woman. Ye ain't goin' afta him eitha." He cuts her a stern look.

"Ta hell I ain't! Let go, Finn!"

"Lass," Finn growls out before he wraps an arm around her waist and covers her mouth to quiet her shouting.

From the parking lot, Kade's jeep suddenly barrels towards them, and the back door jerks open, and Sasha hops partially out with Nikita already in the back as Skylar drives. "Ve go now. Gideon is a traitor." He over-emphasizes his r's. "Zer is no safety herre. Ve vill take you to harborrr."

"Just get in the jeep!" Skylar bellows from the driver's seat, seeing her brother's hesitation.

Finn wrestles his sister into the back with Brandyn's help. "Call me dah." He orders as he pins his sister down.

The jeep roars to life, using Kade's family's immunity to Skylar's advantage as Sasha dials the number Finn gives him. On the way to the harbor, Brandyn appraises the Lieutenant Governor of their situation. As they reach the harbor, Shane asks the question that's been bothering him the most.

At the question, Brandyn's eyes flick to Truly. "They intend to get rid of the siren queen once and for all. I heard Aba give the command herself to capture it and bring it to her. Kill it if necessary."

"Get her straight ta Emerald Isle. Dock right off ta island."

"Aye, Aye. We'll be on The Crow. The pure black schooner of Brovern's fleet," Brandyn clarifies. "We've just reached the harbor. So long as yer daughter." His eyes coolly fall on Truly. "Isn't a right pain, we should depart in fifteen minutes."

Unfortunately, Truly fights them every step of the way, to the point she has her brother contemplating if the ass chewing he'd get for knocking his sister out or not would be worth it. It isn't until they pull up to Emerald Isle's dock and sees her dad standing there that she finally settles.

Finn doesn't trust her not to dive off the pier and holds fast to her arm as she drags him off the boat and throws herself in her dad's arms. "We've gotta go afta Kade, daddy. T'ey jist left him t'ere!"

Shane wraps his arms around his daughter as he glances up at Finn and the others, but he already has a sneaking supposition of what happened to the boy, given the serious looks of the Russians that brought them home.

"Take ye sista ta t'e motha land, aye?"

"Aye, dah." Finn nods, grabbing Truly's arms, knowing she's about to fight.

Truly's eyes widen, "Daddy, noh. Please! We have ta go get Kade." Tears pour down her face as she fights her brother. Another dark-haired guard helps drag her up into the Blue Lady, a modern yacht docked just on the other side, already set to launch. Truly's screams of protest fill the night air, causing her dad's chest to tighten.

After the Blue Lady leaves and her wails die out, Shane's gaze drifts over to the others. "Where is me son-in-law?"

"Likely already in Wintershall and on his way to Libertalia." Brandyn grimly informs. "The Black Witch bound him." Against just Ghedi and Maven, Kade would've stood a chance, especially with their help, which is no doubt why Mama sent her momba daughter. She wanted to ensure they took them both without issue.

"Is Nikolai aware of what's happened ta his son?"

"Niet," Brandyn shakes his head. "There's been no time."

Shane nods his head. "I'll make ta call t'en."

"Tell him Gideon's a traitor, possibly his family. I heard Kade call him such and banish him from the fleet."

Even though he doesn't know who the kid is, Shane nods in agreement. "Aye, I'll pass it along. I suggest ye make yer way up ta Ravenwood. Knowin' Nikolai, he's gonna want an account from ye if ye witnessed it all. I'll tell him yer comin' in ta Raven so he knows what ta be lookin' for."

Brandyn nods.

"If it helps," Skylar offers from where he stands aboard his family's ship, The Crow. "They kept talking about freeing him from her control." He makes a face showing what he thinks of that crazy-ass idea. "That and preventing some great catastrophe by doin' so."

Brandyn cuts his brother an annoyed look. "They fear the Kraken, you stupid git and him giving her control of it." His eyes turn to Shane. "Which he'd never do. The things at least bewitched by Brigit herself. Only the Brovern who wears it can give it to another and she ensured he had to do it of his own free will."

"T'ank ye, t'at helps easy me mind a bit." Shane lies, not finding comfort in their information at all, but the lads are trying. "Do ye know if he had t'at necklace on him tanight?"

Both boys shrug. "I'd wager yes." Brandyn answers. "Never seen him take it off, even diving, but most of his necklaces were beneath his dress shirt. Ye'd have to ask your daughter for sure."

"T'ank ye." He nods to the boat. "Best set sail, Nikolai'll be waitin' by ta time ye get t'ere."

With a slight nod, Brandyn hops back on his ship and casts off. Once the wind fills their sails, the shift swiftly disappears and blends into the night.
