6- Am-Erica-n Heroes
WILL POV-
---- Sunday 10:24 PM ----
As the next day rolled around, it was time for the heist! Will, Robin, Steve and Erica watched the house from a fair distance sitting in the funky boy's car. Today they were ready to commit the best murder they have ever planned; This couple needed to be stopped one way or another.
Their tracing had finally been put to good use as the blue-eyed girl relished in her achievement; this heist was a long time coming. Even if they only had a short time to prepare practically, they knew everything about their target; including their fears and dislikes, so... the group took extra attention to that.
Tonight, was the night... The night they break in!
In the dark of night, the group huddled close reassuring one another, reiterating the plan. Speaking barely above a whisper, they coached Erica as she would be the first to venture into the house; being the only one small enough to navigate the vents. Robin pulled out the map, outlining the path to ensure the clear understanding of the layout.
"Remember Erica!" Will whispered, "When you reach the breaker room, you'll have access to the cameras, lights and locks!"
The youthful girl nodded, her determination reaching its precipice; her eyes shimmering, "Got it!" she punched a fist to the air, "I'll make sure the security cameras won't be a problem!"
With their final instructions given, Erica, Robin and Will left the car.
"Keep in contact!" Steve urged, shaking a SuperCom-radio in the air. He was worried and promised to keep an eye out, being the getaway driver.
The trio nodded, carefully walking down the streets in the cover of darkness. Robin led the way, her eyes filled with determination with a bright smirk on her face. Erica by her side, excited to take part in the heist; doing her own research on the nefarious couple so she knew about her targets and the way to quickly climb through vents: she was terrified, but it was something she wanted to do.
Will however, lagged behind. Thoughts raced in his head; perhaps it was because he was shaken up by yesterday's police encounter, or the fact Mike confessed to him. But what could he do for either of them? He couldn't tell the police the truth, and he couldn't accept Mike's feelings in fear of his past repeating...
"Will'?" The blue-eyed girl, noticing his slow pace, called, "Is everything okay? Don't be nervous!" she reassured, wanting no doubt in any of their minds, or the whole operation could go down-hill.
"Yeah! Yeah, I'm fine!" The brunette slightly smacked his cheeks, breathing deep until he was able to continue. Together, they reached the gates of the manor. First the younger pair hoisted Robin over the fence, using their hands to allow her to gain enough leverage to pull herself to the other side. Out the blue-eyed girl's bag she pulled out a device, inserting it into the keypad from the inside; after a few quick seconds, the gates creaked open, allowing the pair to slip through.
Using the flashlights, they navigated the courtyard to the entrance they had scouted yesterday. Robin spent the entire night figuring out the fastest route to the breaker rooms; she was prepared. This heist was her pride and joy.
Upon reaching the vent opening, the brunette shone his flashlight into the cracks between the gaps and unscrewed the bolts securing it to the wall.
Erica took a deep sigh, "Wish me luck!" she tightened the helmet on her head, along with her knee and elbow pads to ensure no harm in the process.
"Ready?" Robin smiled, placing a hand on the youthful girl's shoulder.
Erica nodded, positioning herself at the entrance of the vent shaft; crawling in. Will and Robin heard rattling from within, as well as an echoing shout from Erica, "See you on the other side nerds!"
The blue-eyed girl shook her head, rolling her eyes; a slight chuckle as she enjoyed Erica's playful banter. She was a good addition to the team; bringing a jocular and fresh spin to the troop, and plus having four people ensures they would get their jobs done quickly.
As Erica made her way through the maze of vents, she relied on the guidance of her teammates. The voices echoed from the SuperCom, providing reassurance and direction. The flashlight on her helmet shone bright as the dirty and cramped vents all seemed the same, repeating itself. The youthful girl reassured herself humming a simple song.
"I've reached the first bend nerds!" Erica announced, "Left, or right?"
The brunette followed her movement on the map, using his SuperCom replied, "Go right!"
"Roger that! Turning right!" The youthful girl dictated; this type of interaction continuing until she reached her destination. On her way she peered through the gaps of other vent grates to see the halls; making a mental note of security guard positioning.
Upon reaching the final instruction, she surveyed the room. It was clear to be the breaker room; the service module situated in the middle. "I'm here!" Erica proclaimed into the SuperCom, the crackling from the other side amplified.
"Can you see anything?" Will questioned
"Yeah! I can see the big computer!" Erica answered
"Can you see any booby traps?" Robin questioned
"Booby traps?" The youthful girl deadpanned
"You know, lasers, spikes in the walls?" The blue-eyed girl asked
"Well if I could see them, they would be pretty shit traps, wouldn't they?" Erica remarked.
"Thank you for that..." Robin sighed motioning the small boy to follow her to where the back door would open in a few seconds, prepared to enter as soon as it opens. They didn't know how long they have until the security catch on.
With awe covering Erica's face she let out a grunt, kicking the grate off its hinges with a large amount of force, "Oops!" She stretched, flinching from the sudden noise. When she was sure no one heard, she jumped out, falling to the floor in a dramatic position, "I've always wanted to do that!" she cheered.
The youthful girl stood before the large surveillance module as the lights blinked ominously, with the control panel layout before her for the lights and locks; this was her moment to prove herself.
With careful precision, Erica began manipulating the controls; this reminded her of one of her favourite games -Five Nights at Freddy's- but paying no mind, she disabled the cameras one by one so it would no longer record; she was in-control of the situation. Switching off all the lights and unlocking the back door, she crackled to the Supercom, "Okay nerds! It's safe to enter!"
Robin and Will slightly pushed the door causing it to swing open. The house enveloped in darkness, giving the pair a perfect cover to enter undetected as they equipped their flashlights, cautiously making their way through the dimly lit halls. They moved carefully, checking each room, relying on their past experiences and instincts to navigate the unfamiliar terrain. Every creaking floorboard sent a shiver down their spines; it was clear the couple didn't value others' lives; it was superfluous to them as long as they would get what they wanted...
Suddenly Erica's voice crackled from the SuperCom, "I have intel!" She paused clearing her throat, "Luanne is in the bedroom!"
"And Jacob?" Will questioned.
"I'm looking..." The youthful girl strained flipping through every camera in the house.
"Okay! Thanks Erica!" Will whispered in return, "Keep us posted!"
"Will do..." The youthful girl replied, before returning to radio silence.
Robin and Will exchanged a glance; they knew the route they had to make to defeat the couple. With a clear destination in mind, the pair advanced toward the bedroom, not hesitating for a moment before they stepped in. This time they wouldn't be nice; they wanted to make the couple feel how they made others feel; even bringing large, blunt weapons to produce the most amount of pain.
With a loud bang, they slammed the door open! The old woman on the bed jumped from the sudden sound. She coward in fear screaming aloud, alerting the attention of the security guards outdoor but Robin lunged at her, stinking violently to muffle her scream.
Meanwhile, Steve sat in the car, his vantage point allowing him to keep watch of the surroundings. He scanned the area, his senses on high alert, ready to spring at a moment's notice; his role vital to the plan, ensuring a secure escape route. And his vigilance paid off; from his binoculars, he could clearly see multiple security guards with large guns approach the building. With quick thinking he fumbled with his SuperCom, discreetly relaying the information to Erica, who swiftly activated a lock; perpetually placing the building on a lock-down for the time being.
The confrontation inside the room escalated, the woman cornered and desperate; she begged to give money, gold, riches, fame, anything they wanted... but no amount of begging could get them to stop what they had already planned. They were getting justice for all the people who were wronged by the Parkers, and ensuring this behaviour doesn't occur again in the future.
The pride as they activated their individual skills to mess with her mind was unmatched, throwing beating after beating, to prolong the experience until suddenly, their SuperCom's went off again, "Umm Guys? One of you need to get to the basement..." Erica panicked
"Why?" Will responded,
"Jacob's trying to escape!"
"Okay... Roger that!" The brunette nodded, relaying the information to Robin who was still attacking the old woman, using her own weaknesses against her.
"I'll go to the basement..." Will affirmed making his way out the room. Through the dark halls, he used Erica's guidance to navigate the route to the basement. Fuelled by determination, he took a step down the creaky stairs. It was clear Jacob was still here; he was trying to escape, but thanks to the youthful girl's quick thinking he was unable to get any further. With a firm grip on his flashlight, he shone the beam on the different antiquities, including old vases and oil paintings but also filled with expensive wines lining the shelves and barrels full of beer.
In the dimly lit basement, Will's senses sharpened. He could hear faint shuffles echo through the cold, damp space. He knew Jacob was nearby; catching sight of the old man cowering behind one of the crates, not even bothering to help his wife, whose screams could still be heard.
Taking the axe from off his back, he dragged it across the floor with a mischievous grin. The brunette aimed to taunt the old man with his mere presence, "Oh Jacob!" He called in a singing tone, "Are we playing Marco-Polo?"
"I like playing games... I know you do two!" the brunette giggled. Hearing the cold metal scrape against the floor, Jacob shivered. But with no response Will continued, "Didn't you also play games with Alex, and Sean, and Sue, and Marcus, and Delores..." Listing names of people who the Parkers' had taken the life of.
He continued to list names; his voice more menacing with each reveal. Will made his way, inching closer to the cowering old man, but using the axe to throw some wine bottles to the floor hearing the large crash against the floor. Footsteps approached closer to Jacob, his heartbeat penetrating through him.
"Marco..." The brunette sinisterly chuckled coming face to face with the old man; he towered over Jacob proving his dominance and superiority in this situation. Raising the axe to the air with a mischievous smile on his face, Will spoke "...Polo!" slamming the axe down...
