16- Angela The Apathetic

WILL POV-

As the brunette sat in the car, his eyes looked out the window bewildered over what James said moments earlier. His eyes on the road; he didn't know if he wanted to cry or not, he was exhausted, breathing deep as the frustration and annoyance lingered. He ached; his heart hurt as one of his childhood friends treated him that way...

But Will softly smacked his cheeks; it was all in the past, so he decided not to dwell on it for any longer. With a deep sigh he turned around to face his friends; "So have we found anything new about Billy?"

"Yeah but... are you okay Will?" Erica questioned; her voice soft.

"Yeah, yeah of course!" The brunette smiled, touched by his friend's compassion. "So what is it?"

Robin cleared her throat leaning over the passenger seat as she spoke up, "So, I did some digging and apparently I found out he's dating some girl from your old High School class!"

"Oh... really?" The small boy pondered.

"Her name is Angela Anderson!" The blue-eyed girl chirped.

"Oh..." Will fidgeted with his fingers. Memories of his past experiences of High School flashed by his mind; despite having a horrible boyfriend, he also had to deal with Angela's constant bullying. A wave of sadness washed over him, but he couldn't let his emotions get the best of him at this time.

Robin's voice broke through his thoughts; a glimmering beaker of hope, "Do you think we should ask her about Billy? I could go?" she offered knowing the small boy wasn't in a good mood.

"No!" Will objected, "I'll go! I know her and I could also warn her!" hoping that if he confronted her, her demeanour would change, and she wouldn't have to go through what he did while he was dating Billy.

Steve, who was sitting behind the wheel glanced at Will through the rearview mirror, "Are you sure about this Will? If you have difficulty, we coul-"

"Nope! I'm sure!" the brunette cut off, "I want to!"

And with their collective agreement, they adjusted their route and made their way to Angela's house. Will's heart raced with a mix of anticipation and nervousness. He knew that confronting her wouldn't be easy, but it was a necessary step toward closure and preventing another victim from Billy's cruelty.

As they arrived at the Anderson residence, The brunette felt his palms sweaty; confronting a childhood bully was never easy. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for future events for what lay ahead. He exited the car, closing the door behind him; Erica wished him good luck showing a thumbs up as Will jokingly rolled his eyes, a small smile as he made his way to the house approaching the front door. He sighed raising his hand as he knocked; his heart pounding in his chest.

A few moments passed as the door opened revealing Angela, surprise evident on her face, "Will? What are you doing here?" She asked, a hint of curiosity on her face.

The small boy looked her up and down. Even if she was 'bitchy' during high school, he couldn't let her just go along with the relationship; he was doing something he wish someone had told him before he dated Billy. "Umm I need to talk to you!"

"Ughh! Go on!" she snapped.

"Can I at least come in?" The brunette whispered.

"I don't want to... but I also don't want the neighbours to see your raggedy ass outside the house!" Angela sighed moving out the way as they walked to the living room,

"Thank you..." Will mumbled, taking a seat on the couch.

"So what did you wanna say? I don't have all day!" The preppy girl rolled her eyes, crossing her arms as she sat on an opposing chair.

"Well..." The small boy confronted her about her boyfriend; hoping to warn about his abusive nature, but Will never anticipated the harsh reaction he would get. Angela scrunched her face, crossing her arm with a scowl as she listened to his concerns.

"Why are you even here?" The preppy girl spat, her words dripping with disapproval. "Can't you stand to see someone else happy?"

"I'm not trying to do anything! I know first-hand how Billy treats people!" The brunette defended himself; his heart sinking from the utter disregard for his concerns. He took a deep breath maintaining composure, feeling as though his experience wasn't valid.

Angela mocked; her eyes sharp. "Oh please! I've heard all about your little sob story; we all did, the whole school knew!"

The words stung the small boy, reopening wounds from his past. He tried to fight back against tears as the whole day's events flooded his mind. "This isn't about me... it's about your safety; I don't want you to get hurt like I was!"

The preppy girl scoffed, a mocking smile on her face, "Oh come on! Hurt?" she spat, "We all know you used to sleep with him for money! I bet that got rid of all your pain!" she sneered, a menacing giggle on her face.

Will felt anger surge within, he fought to keep his emotions in check; not wanting to resort to murder for the second time today. "That's not true! I've never slept with anyone before!"

"Really?" The preppy girl jeered, "Any boy with a face like yours and a brain knows the best way to get money... just admit what we all know! You're a total gold-digger!"

The words stung deep, he felt a mix of frustration and neglect; even during his relationship with Billy that's all-what people would say. They all thought that he would exchange himself for money as he came from a poor family. They never saw the abuse Will went through, but they all decided to call him a gold-digger or a slut. He did think he had a connection with Billy at the time, and perhaps they did... but it obviously wasn't.

"Angela!" he spoke firm, "Listen to me when I say that Billy is abusive! I don't wish that on anyone!"

The preppy girl laughed brushing off the heeds, "You're just bitter because he moved on and found someone better!"

"I only came here out of concern for your wellbeing. But if you're not willing to listen then there is nothing I can do... just remember, if things take a turn for the worse, I'll support you!" and with those final words the small boy stood up from the couch approaching the door. The encounter left him feeling frustrated and defeated, but he didn't know what else to do besides raise awareness.

He couldn't blame Angela despite the harsh words she spat at him... because he could already see the warning signs; her lack of makeup and beige oversized sweaters, a complete contrast from the 'Barbie' and 'Bubble-gum' aesthetic she was known for; she wasn't completely herself.

Reuniting with his friends outside, they could see the frustration etched on Will's face as he slipped into the back seat. They offered words of comfort and support, understanding the emotional toll this whole plan was having on the small boy. They assured him that he had done the right thing and that he could stop this plan at any time if it got too much for his mental health.

But the brunette shook his head; he knew he was doing the right thing. Even if the encounter with Angela stirred up painful memories, Will refused to let that get to him. He aimed to get revenge on Billy before he had taken everything from another person. With renewed determination, he set his sights on the future with steadfast commitment so he could end this cycle.

After the drive home, and some quick planning, the group each went to their respective homes. As Will entered his apartment, the tragedies of the day finally caught up to him, almost as though it did not register. He longed for comfort as his gaze caught Mike sitting on the couch; his heart warmed at the sight.

Without uttering a word, the brunette made his way over, his body sinking into the soft cushions beside him. With a gentle sigh, he rested his head on the ravenette's lap, seeking the familiar touch and reassurance that only his boyfriend could provide. Mike's hand instinctively reached out, gently stroking Will's hair with tender care.

But the tall boy could feel the weight of Will's emotions radiating from him, sensing turmoil. Concerned he gently questioned, "Hey Teacup, what's wrong? Is everything alright?"

"I'm just tired." Will sighed softly, his voice quiet, lacing with melancholy, "It's just been a long day!"

The ravenette furrowed his brows with worry, observing the small boy's expression; it was clear there was more to it than simple fatigue, but in respect of Will's boundaries, decided not to push further as Will hated pressure. Instead, he offered support in the only way he knew how, "Okay! If you ever want to talk about it, you know I'm here for you!" Mike's voice soft, flowing with understanding.

"I know..." The small boy nodded, a smile gracing his lips.

In the void, the warmth of their connection required no words, their presence was enough; as the minutes ticked by, Mike continued stroking Will's hair gently, his touch like a soothing balm of peace and empathy.

Will sighed through a smile, "I wish it could always be like this..."
