The Betrayal of Quinevere
Now Queen in fury great now rose
From golden throne she did not own.
In anger high at current turn
To know her wiles man had spurned.
And laid with Lady Elaine the dame
Who bore him son his flesh could claim.
Inside her room the queen now stole
And held in heart this fickle goal.
To find and help this Mordred thief
Who stole the throne to Arthur's grief.
And help him take the Joyous Gard
In battle great and manner hard.
Through hidden tunnels kept in room
Did same now steal to seal their doom.
Her ladies leading blinded queen
To stable far where steed they deem
So Quinevere from Jouyous Gard
Did ride in night at gallop hard.
To camp that deep in forest kept
Where Mordred guarded border deft.
Inside it's hold on mare she trods
With fairest face that's lofty laud.
"I bid you men to hear my plea
With knowledge great I lend as fee.
Of all the secret ways in keep
So men be sent and battle seek."
Then up from tents a figure fell
Who seldom down in camp did dwell
Who's Mordred Arthur's nephew dire
Who sure against her love conspired.
"What brings to camp this Guinevere
Whose wiley ways are very feared.
Has things at keep become a bore
With dames illicit paramour.
Now speak or lose your head to blade
And lie in deep unvaunted grave"
So lady spoke to stay his hand
By showing man her trait'rous plan.
"I once did covet fairest things
The peace and comfort beauty brings
But eyes have dined and none behold
My love for beauty magic stole.
And only powers fair beheld
In eyes were sight no longer dwells.
So dame does come to seek your aid
That Joyous Gard in heap be laid."
Now man does harken fast to dame
In hopes that keep his hand may claim...
