just like every other day, jaemin was brought into his cell after dinner.
it had been like that for the past month.
it had been like that since jaemin was imprisoned.
it had been like that since donghyuck died.
jaemin didn't hate life in prison.
he hated more life in general anyways.
the teenager took a sit on his bed, pulling his knees against his chest as he sighed.
what could he do other than that...?
right... nothing.
thinking about donghyuck depressed him.
it made him regret everything.
it made him want to die.
thinking about his parents made him think about ilsung.
and ilsung made him think about his deceased boyfriend.
so, he couldn't think about them either.
actually, everything in his life seemed to revolve around donghyuck.
he couldn't think about his good days.
he couldn't think about his fears.
he couldn't think about the people he loved.
everything always reminded him of donghyuck.
jaemin was cut in his reflexion by someone knocking on the door of the room he was locked in.
the heavy metallic door opened, revealing the usual cell guard next to an old man, dressed in a long white tunic.
"na jaemin...?" the old man asked.
"yes?" the boy answered.
"come with me, please."
jaemin stood up walking out of his cell and following the man out.
the guard didn't even handcuff him, confusing jaemin a slight bit.
"look at me." the old man said, making jaemin lift his head.
the man poked jaemin's forehead with his pointer finger, and as if a magical force cradled him, jaemin fell into a deep slumber.

when jaemin opened his eyes, he got blinded by the amount of white that was in the room.
"hello jaemin, welcome to the jinyang lake." the same old man greeted jaemin.
"jinyang lake?"
"that's where angels live." the old man said. "i am the head angel."
jaemin stayed silent, looking at his surroundings.
the walls of the room were plain white, making it hard for jaemin to keep his eyes open.
the ceiling was made of glass, and jaemin noticed that they were underwater.
the old man surely understood his confusion because he gave him an explaination.
"the angel community developed under the surface of the jinyang lake." he said.
jaemin nodded finding their world paradoxical.
normally, angels would live above the clouds, somewhere peaceful and harmonious.
and normally, demons would live under the surface, caged.
but it seemed like everything was upside down.
"why am i here?" jaemin asked, finally looking at the old man in the eyes.
they were blue.
just like the demon's eyes were glowing red, theirs were glowing blue.
"i want you to become an angel jaemin." the head said.
jaemin lifted a brow.
he? an angel?
there had to be a mistake.
he was a killer.
he was a murderer.
he was a sinner.
he couldn't become an angel.
"you are someone good, jaemin. you may not see yourself like that, but you are." the head said. "i want to offer you the life of an angel."
"i think you're taking me for someone else." jaemin said.
"i know what i saw, jaemin..." the angel said. "you could be a good angel... that's what you are meant to be."

jaemin looked at his reflexion in the length mirror of his room under the surface of jingyang lake.
he admired his blue eyes, his now blonde hair, and his white elegant clothes.
this wasn't the jaemin he used to be.
he was someone else.
but he still had the same preoccupations.
"i hope your new life suits you..." he whispered, staring at his blue eyes.
he was talking to donghyuck.
he often did.
he knew he would never get a response.
but it was relieving.
"i'm meeting my first human today." jaemin continued. "i just wanted to tell you... he'll never be able to fill your place... i'm not sure someone could, actually..."
jaemin had been assigned a human.
after a month of learning angel's life, he had been assigned a human.
contrarily to other angels, his human wouldn't be a new-born.
his human was already 19.
his previous angel had been promoted to the rank of elevated angel, angels that spread so much good that they become guides of the angel world.
and so, jaemin would meet his human today.
he wondered if donghyuck felt as stressed as he does on jaemin's 18th birthday.
jaemin was donghyuck's first human.
and also, his last...
"i love you..." jaemin whispered, placing his hand on top of his chest. "i'll always do..."

"hello, i am jaemin, your new angel."
the boy, who's back was facing him, turned around at jaemin's voice.
jaemin's heart skipped a beat when the boy faced him.
he looked like donghyuck.
he was a perfect copy of his boyfriend.
his reddish hair had change into a caramel colour, and his glowing red eyes into a dark chocolate one.
but aside from those two details, they were the same person.
the same flawless face.
the same button-nose.
the same plump lips.
the same body proportions.
the same tanned skin.
the same moles.
everything.
"angel?!" the boy yelled, wrinkles forming onto his forehead as he frowned. "you're another angel?!"
"y-yes." jaemin said, trying to ignore his heart.
"go away!"
jaemin was taken about by the sudden order he received from the human.
"pardon?" he asked. "aren't you going to introduce yourself to me?"
the honey-haired boy rolled his eyes.
"i am lee haechan, and i want you to get the fuck out!"
jaemin swallowed the lump in his throat, looking at his boyfriend look-alike.
"why...?"
"why?!" the human asked. "because i don't want a fucking angel!" he screamed. "i want a demon!"
the yelling human didn't expect his angel to smirk after his offensive words.
he didn't expect either for the angel to slam him onto the closest wall thanks to his powers.
but what he expected the less were the words that got out of his mouth as his face was centimetres away from haechan's.
"i may be an angel on the outside, but the truth is... inside... i am and i will forever be a sinNAr..."
