jaemin arrived home after an hour walk.
he was exhausted.
he didn't have the strength to do anything.
the boy lied on his bed, arms and legs spread, head resting on the pillow he had borne a hole in a few days before.
after a dozen of minutes of resting, and just listening to the music blasting through his ears, jaemin decided to take a shower.
the boy picked his pyjama from under his pillow, locking himself into his tiny bathroom.
he set his pyjamas on the sink before undressing and throwing his dirty clothes on the pile of non-washed clothes that had been there for too long – don't blame him, he was lazy to wash them by hand.
once he was in his bare attire, jaemin turned the shower's handle, opening the water – cold water – before slipping in the shower cabin, right under the water.
no matter how long he had had to shower with cold water, he never got used to it.
cold showers were like a way-too-loud alarm clock, blasting at 5a.m. when you had gone to bed after 3. very unpleasant.
what got him surprised today was that the cold shower didn't seem to be that cold.
in fact, it seemed hotter than usual. jaemin hadn't paid for the water bills though.
the water soon became boiling hot, and that's when jaemin knew there was a problem.
"ahhh!" jaemin yelled when the previously hot water became freezing cold.
he heard someone laughing at his pain.
and he knew exactly who that was.
"donghyuck!!!" the human yelled, wiping the steam off the shower cabin's glass to see the demon laughing his ass off. "get the fuck out of my bathroom- aaahh!!"
jaemin turned the water off as the temperature became unbearably hot once again, burning his skin.
the teenager opened the glass door before storming out, only to find no one standing there.

an awfully similar event happened the next day.
jaemin was inside his little house, preparing his dinner.
for once, he had decided not to eat a pot of ramen – he had had way too much this week – and instead, cook a piece of beef he had bought in the dirty convenience store of guryong village. the expiration date was today, so he had had it half the price it usually was.
he had meticulously cut the beef piece in half, saving one half for tomorrow, before cooking the first half.
his meat was inside the pan, getting cooked with a bit of oil and a few potatoes.
jaemin was aware that this was a divine meal.
he couldn't afford these things every day.
so, he might enjoy it while it lasts.
jaemin used his finger to turn the food around in the pan, making sure that everything was cooked well.
the smell of it was already making him so hungry...
but it seemed like he would never be able to eat it.
just when the boy was about to pull the pan out of the cooking fires, a bright orange flame appeared, burning everything that was inside the pan.
jaemin was quick to react and pour a good amount of water on the now burnt dish that he had taken long to prepare.
"oops..." a voice said behind him. "i think you left it a bit too long..."
jaemin turned around in a swift motion, finding the demon sitting on his dining table with his usual smirk.
his jaw clenched, and his grip tightened around the pan.
"leave my house." he said, taking deep breaths.
"are you sure- "
"LEAVE MY FUCKING HOUSE!!" jaemin screamed, throwing the pan with all his force at the demon who dodged it easily.
the demon didn't complain and disappeared, watching the human he had been assigned picking the burnt pieces of meat from the floor and eating them anyway.

jaemin kept on with such a shitty life for a month.
one whole month.
every day, donghyuck would appear and make his life a hell.
sometimes breaking his things, other times making him do things jaemin didn't want to.
it was the same over and over again.
jaemin would live a peaceful life – well, day.
and when he would be happy about his day, donghyuck would appear, ruining it.
jaemin held one month.
he only snapped at the demon, sometimes threw objects at him...
but he never abandoned.
jaemin was against the idea of calling the demon.
he was against the idea of forgiving donghyuck.
against the idea of explaining things with him.
against the idea of making peace with the enemy.
but now, he had had too much.
he had lived literal hell for a month.
he had wanted to die every day for a whole month.
and he wanted this time to be over.
his life was already complicated before he reached 18.
and once his 18th birthday occurred, it just became worse.
his usual lonely life transformed in a life he had to share with a demon.
sure, the demon wasn't there at first, but now, he appeared every day.
he came to remind jaemin of his shitty existence every day.
and jaemin was tired of this.
if only he could have an angel.
if only this demon could disappear.
everything would be better.
but sadly, nothing is good in life... at least, in jaemin's...
