and donghyuck surely felt it too, because the demon pulled away slowly, looking at jaemin deep in the eyes.

"d-donghyuck?" jaemin asked in a trembling voice, the feeling of the demon's lips still lingering on his.

"jaemin, please, hurry..." donghyuck pulled the boy even harder.

donghyuck stopped running abruptly, sensing jaemin's grip on his hand lossening.

as soon as they stopped, jaemin fainted, falling on donghyuck unconscious.

"fuck." donghyuck muttered.

he picked the boy in his arms, panicking when he saw the two cops running towards him were getting closer.

donghyuck used his left foot to hit the ground hard, using his powers to make the earth tremble.

the two policemen got surprised by the sudden shaking and fell on the ground, leaving donghyuck more time to run away and disappear from their sights.

when jaemin awoke, he was rather surprised to see donghyuck next to him.

the demon was sitting on a chair that he had approached from the bed to stay next to jaemin. he had his eyes closed, and he was snoring cutely.

also, donghyuck's hand was intertwined with jaemin's.

it surely had been for all the duration of jaemin's sleep.

the human detangled their hands to grab something to eat, but the sudden movement woke donghyuck up.

"j-jaemin..." the demon mumbled. "you're up?"

"huh... yes."

jaemin and donghyuck looked at each other in the eye, not really knowing what to do.

they both remembered well the events of the night before.

they felt the need to talk about it.

but they didn't know where to start from.

"huh... so..." jaemin rubbed the back of his neck. "about yesterday..."

the atmosphere was awkward.

donghyuck was still sitting on the chair, and jaemin was seated crossed-legs on his bed.

jaemin coughed the atmosphere being even more awkward.

"well..." he rubbed his nape in nervousness. "you... you were about to kill me..."

jaemin nodded, taking in the information.

if only he could have a bit of control over NA.

he had almost killed his demon. the demon he had been calling for two weeks. the demon that he had been missing so much.

"i'm sorry..." jaemin said, daring to look up, only to find donghyuck looking away. "i was blinded by violence and... well... it was the NA in me..."

"i know..." donghyuck replied. "i was so scared..."

"i am genuinely sorry, donghyuck..."

the demon didn't answer.

he would have loved to tell jaemin that it was okay, that he couldn't have control over his psychopathic personality... but he couldn't.

NA will forever be NA.

and he will keep trying to kill donghyuck if he tries stopping him...

it was an endless game.

a game donghyuck was 100% sure to lose.

"i know..." the demon finally answered.

jaemin looked at him with sad eyes.

he could feel how hurt the demon was.

surely because his human had tried killing him.

donghyuck had already told him he was devoted ot his mission.

he also told him that he wanted a human who would enjoy sharing their life with a demon.

and instead, he got a broken human that tried to push him away.

"i'm... going somewhere..." donghyuck declared, rising to his feet and heading towards the front door.

he looked at donghyuck walking out with his heart slowly breaking.

the so-called boy lifted his head, seeing donghyuck halfway through the front door of his house.

"i know you probably won't care, but i feel like i should tell you..." he mumbled. "yesterday night, when you tried killing me... i saw my whole life flashing in front of my eyes... i told myself that i didn't want to regret anything if my life would end there..."

donghyuck looked at jaemin in the eye.

"i wanted to have my first kiss with the person i fell for. even if it meant it was my last..."

a lump formed into jaemin's throat as the front door closed, donghyuck gone.
