Chapter 2

"I love you." A beautiful Blond with a curvy body said softly. She had a white tank top on and baby pink bikini underwear. She was laying in bed on her tummy, admiring the girl in bed next to her with herself propped up on her elbow. The blond smiled softly and giggled. It was like in the movies. The blond leaned in closer, closing her eyes.

Jennifer was jolted from her sleep by her phone's alarm. She sighed and shut the alarm off before laying back down and staring up at her ceiling. She didn't understand why she would have a dream about the girl from her class.

"I have got to talk to her." Jennifer mumbled to herself as she climbed out of the bed.

She stepped over piles of clean clothes and random items that were useless. Her room was always messy but if you asked her for something from her room, she would know exactly where it was. She had always had difficulty keeping her room clean, and it wasn't that she just refused to clean it, but she just liked her room, unkempt.

She walked to her closet and opened the door before stepping inside. She had a large closet with close to two dozen shoes and over ten shoulder bags, ranging from vintage to designer. She had dozens of outfits and most of which were from vintage shops but a few items were from high end stores and had never been worn.

She grabbed a pair of ripped jeans and a T-shirt, and changed out of her pink butterfly pajamas. Her room was pink and most of her furniture was feminine but her clothes, the ones she loved to wear, were rugged, ripped and torn. She loved vintage clothes and she hoped no one would see, that she had designer clothes. Because that was not what she wanted to flaunt.

She got dressed and grabbed her book bag before heading downstairs to the kitchen. It was a modern kitchen with an island and a fridge that allowed you to see the contents inside.

she walked past the fridge and grabbed an apple off the table, and headed out to catch the bus. she had her license but no car. she had everything she could possibly want but no car. it didn't matter to her though, she had no friends to see after school or no interest to go to the mall like every other girl her age.

she got lost in her thoughts as she waited for the bus. she thought about potentially going to college when she graduated, but the idea of the material getting even harder, scared her. she knew right then that she didn't want to go.

After a few minutes the bus finally arrived. Jennifer got on the bus when the doors opened. she looked at the empty seats in the front of the bus and sat down in the seat that she sat in everyday. she put her book bag between her and the window because she often used it as an armrest.

Jennifer stared out the window as the bus made its usual stops before finally reaching the school at 7am sharp. she sighed when the bus came to a stop behind the school. it's where the bus always dropped students off and picked them up at the end of the day.

the other students took their time getting off the bus. Jennifer waited patiently to get in the line of students getting off the bus. She was the last one off the bus and since she often helped out the bus driver by cleaning up the bus years ago when she was the last one off, she told the woman to have a good day before getting off the bus.

The bell rang when Jennifer walked into the school. she sighed and walked down the hall to her locker.

"jen!" a voice behind her called out. Jennifer stopped and turned around. It was her childhood friend Jake. he had asked her out more times than she could count but each time she explained that it would be too weird.

Jake ran to her. "hey Jen, do you wanna go catch a movie tonight? it's not a date,.. just friends catching a movie." he offered.

"alright, but i'm paying for my own ticket." Jennifer said firmly and he put his hands up in defense. "fine." he said. "i'll pick you up." he added.

"let's just meet there." Jennifer said. Even though Jake would rather pick her up, he knew she would refuse to go if he picked her up.

"i have to get my books and get to class." Jennifer said, changing the subject of conversation.

"okay." jake said. "i'll see you around 6 at the movie theatre?" he said. Jennifer nodded and hurried to her locker to get her books. She Immediately regretted agreeing to go out with jake. Her mind flooded with excuses to get out of it, but she knew he'd see through each and every one. She grabbed the books she'd need for her first few classes and walked down the hall, that now filled with students, who could care less that she was there.

As she walked down the hall and went to her first class, she passed Marco. He was a new student, he had to because she had never seen him before. She briefly wondered why he would come to such a dreary place. Her eyes moved as if they were independent of her body and her gaze dropped down to his groin. it took what seemed like an hour to break her eyes of the gaze but it was only about five seconds. As she walked past him, he smiled at her and she felt her cheeks warm with a blush. She smiled back and tucked her hair behind her ear and walked past him to her class.

All day, Jennifer thought about Marco. She liked him. He was attractive. She saw him again that day as she waited for the bus home. He was just standing there tossing a football in his hands that he must have gotten from the captain of the football team, meaning he likely joined the team. she sighed and got on the bus when it pulled up to the school. She flopped down in the seat and tossed her bag onto the spot beside her. She got out her headphones from her bookbag, put them in her ears, cranked her favorite song and closed her eyes, ignoring the entire world and everyone in it.

Over the next few months, Jennifer tried to get up the courage to talk to the girl in her algebra class, whom she learned was named Charolette. It was now the start of summer break at school and Jennifer was very relieved to be getting out of this nightmare she felt like she couldn't escape.

Jennifer stood in front of her locker, sorting through the mess inside of it that had gotten so cluttered, it was ridiculous. Her mind wandered to the things she was looking forward to this summer; swimming, tanning and doing nothing. As she threw the last paper into her bookbag, she heard someone curse from down the hall. It wasn't in anger but in frustration. Jennifer looked around her locker door and saw Charolette down at the end of the hallway, standing in front of a mess of papers with her bookbag in her hand and it was clear the bottom had gave way, releasing the papers from the bag.

Jennifer shut her locker and zipped up the bag before walking down the hallway to Charolette. the girl was squatted down and gathering up her papers reluctantly.

"May I help?" Jennifer asked.

Charolette looked up at her. "Sure. Thanks." She said and went back to gathering her papers.

Jennifer put her bag down and got down as Charolette was and started helping her gather the papers until they both had gathered every last slip of paper. Jennifer looked at her as she held out the papers to her. Charolette looked up and met her gaze. Jennifer bit her lip and her heart started racing. Her gaze dropped from her eyes to her plump lip glossed lips. Jennifer bit her lip harder as Charolette seemed to blush.

"S-sorry." Jennifer said as Charolette got  text message. She pulled her phone out of her pocket and cursed under her breath.

"What is it?" Jennifer asked, putting her nose in Charolette's business.

"My ride just flaked on me." Charolette sighed and shut her screen off then put her phone in her pocket.

"I can give you a ride." Jennifer said. For getting good grades, Jennifer's dad bought her a car. A used car, but to Jennifer, it had wheels and ran, so that's what mattered.

"Great, thank you so much." Charolette said and stood up, holding the arm full of papers.

Jennifer walked with Charolette down the hallway which was like a ghost town. not a soul in sight. Neither girl spoke as they walked out of the building and to the student parking lot. Jennifer's car was the only car in the parking lot.

"Is that your car?" Charolette asked shocked, looking at Jennifer who shrugged.

"It's okay." Jennifer said. "My dad bought it for me." she added.

They approached the single car left in the lot. It was snow white, Audi A3. It had tinted windows and custom plates.

Charolette smiled to herself as Jennifer unlocked the car. Charolette felt something in the pit of her stomach for this new friend she'd made. It was the way Jennifer saw things. Jennifer wasn't impressed by fancy things that all girls seemed to seek out. This made Jennifer different to Charolette.

Jennifer put her bookbag in the backseat, as did Charolette. Jennifer got in the driver's seat and started the car once both doors were shut. She asked Charolette where she lived. The address that Charolette gave her was almost forty minutes away. Jennifer didn't mind driving all that way, because she gets to spend that time with Charolette.

During the first few minutes of the drive was awkward. "So.. are you new to the school?" Jennifer asked, focusing on the road.

"Yea, my family moved here from California." Charolette said as she looked out the side window.

"Why here though, it's not a place many people move to." Jennifer said chuckling softly which got Charolette to laugh softly too. To Jennifer, it was a sweet sound, something she hoped to hear more often.

"My dad is in the military and he got moved to the military base near here." Charolette sighed.

Jennifer nodded and listened curiously as Charolette told Jennifer almost everything about her, even including a little detail about having had a girlfriend at her old school. Jennifer's heart just about leapt out of her chest when she heard that. She felt like she had a chance with this girl. If only she could admit to herself, out loud, that she liked girls.

The one thing that held her back was all the backlash people who were homosexual got for loving who they did. Anyone who came out as gay or even bisexual was put down and told they were going to hell, no questions asked. It wasn't fair. Sadly there was nothing she could do about the people who believed that such relationships were sinful. Unfortunately her parents even fell under this category.

Charolette noticed Jennifer was starting to tear up. "What's wrong?" Charolette asked gently. Whatever was bothering Jennifer, Charolette didn't want to make her even more upset.

"Nothing." Jennifer said, hoping Charolette wouldn't delve deeper.

"You can tell me. I won't tell anyone." Charolette said.

Jennifer sighed. She was afraid to tell Charolette what she was thinking. They just met after all.

"Okay." Jennifer said softly. "I think I like girls." she said shyly and kept her eyes on the road.

"Really?" Charolette asked, a hint of a smile in her voice.

"Yea." Jennifer said as she turned onto the street that Charolette lived on.

Charolette didn't say anything until after Jennifer pulled into her driveway. Her mom and two siblings lived off the base. Her parents had argued about it until her dad gave in and let them live off base.

"Do you wanna come in? hang out? My mom is at my brother's football practice and my sister is at cheerleading practice." Charolette said smiling. It would be just the two of them.

"Sure." Jennifer said softly as she blushed. She felt a weird feeling in the pit of her stomach. She didn't know why it was there or what it was called but she liked it.
