|III|Episode●017● Juvenile

"Hello, who is this?" It was nearing 4 of the morning; Sera could scream into the phone, but she was trying to be a better person. She didn't have the energy to, that was another reason.

"Are you related to Kwon Hyejin-ssi?" the person from the other line said.

"I know her, why? What happened?"

"She's admitted in Gangnam Severance Hospital. Do I send you the address?"

"No need, I'll be there."

○◆○

Sera had been resting in the waiting area of the ED, eyes puffy and lifeless, staring into the oblivion, body stiff enough to be mistaken for an AI. Hyejin had fallen from the staircase of the apartment was what she had knowledge of for the moment. It must've been a serious head injury: she assumed on her own, for Hyejin had been in the emergency room for a while.

Sera was never the type to de-stress herself by letting the tears out. The number of times she had cried, after the age of three, could be counted in fingers. But the minus of the practice was that she didn't know of an alternative. For someone who had a hard, hard time penting up anger, she was a master doing the same when it came to sorrow.

She wished to disappear. The event timeline of the proximate mishappenings was taking a toll on her mental well-being. She couldn't say she was the invincible Sera anymore, she had been incompetent at many tasks, primary priority tasks, for a while. If Seokjin's theories were the truth, then she must be compensating for the sins she committed. And if yes, then her list of sufferings could be longer than anticipated. She didn't want to believe in it all but she was beginning to.

After having dialled Yoongi's number a couple lot of times, when he had finally picked up was when she felt a tad bit better. Two words together in the sentence: Hyejin and hospital, were what it took for Yoongi to ekdam hang up and set out. By the time he had arrived, Hyejin was shifted to a private ward.

Yoongi and Sera remained sitting next to each other, with complete silence barring their thoughts on a communication. Yoongi learned what Sera did from the nurse, and both knew how scared and sad the other was. The voice of the nurse was what rocked their heads up, ultimately.

"Kwon Hyejin-ssi has gained consciousness. You may visit but don't make the patient talk much."

In no time the both of them rushed inside. The sight of Hyejin only saddened them more. Her injuries didn't look like just a staircase mishappening, and both of them knew based on their experiences with injured humans. Sera and Yoongi gave each other a knowing look.

Yoongi rested his palm on that of Hyejin's featherly. Sera stood herself on the other side of the bed.

"Sweetie, you're gonna be fine. You're a strong person, so you'll recover fast, alright? Do you feel any discomfort, like other than from the pain?" Sera eyed her body, she had bandages on her head and legs, immobilizer belts on her shoulder and waist, plastered nose and other minor cuts and burns. "Any breathing problems? Or?...You remember us, right?"

Sera was no master of medical knowledge, she saw the head injury and connected it to a possible memory loss.

"Unnie....I-I miss eomma..." Hyejin managed to say with her scratchy nasal voice, eyes tear-brimmed.

"I'll call her if you wish you, Hyejin-ah."

"You didn't already inform her parents?" Yoongi asked.

"She wouldn't like the idea of worrying them like that," Sera answered, looking at Hyejin.

"Don't call her," Hyejin mumbled.

"Hyejin. Baby, tell us, how did this happen? You wouldn't just casually slip down the stairs at 3 in the morning," Yoongi spoke. "Don't talk too much but tell us in bits. The doc and the police will arrive soon."

Hyejin began crying waterfalls.

"Sweetie, you're fine now. Even we don't want you to keep remembering it, but we must know," Sera added.

"It wasn't an accident," Hyejin said between her sobs. "Jimin...I don't know why..I'm not sure..but he did..." Thoughts engulfed her at the memoirs of her injustice.

Hyejin eyed Jimin as he swigged another glass of alcohol. He looked like he owned the place, he was the sweetheart of the club, Hyejin agreed that much; But in a different context, he looked like a gangster who conducted himself like he owned the most random of places in the terrain he terrorized.

"You should quit drinking so much on the house. You know that Sera unnie is financially constricted, we might not even get paid next month. The others here are turning against you, are you even aware?"

"I'll do what I want," Jimin replied to Hyejin in the plainest manner, devoid of the speculations of an expressive outburst.

Hyejin got annoyed. She wasn't the type to be easily triggered, she had that natural diplomatic charm. "You haven't been even working for a while. When you do work, you don't do it properly. You aren't even doing it now, and it's your shift. What's gotten into you, oppa? I still wanna stay on your side, you know?"

"Stop it there with the words, kiddo. You don't know who you're messing with," Jimin responded to her before directing his words to Joey. "Make me another one, boy."

"No, no one's making you another one!" Hyejin commanded.

Jimin aggressively snatched the bottle that was in Hyejin's hand.

"Woah, easy there!" Joey was fast to express.

"What are you? A teenager? Where's your maturity?" Hyejin's voice was gradually escalating to a higher pitch each time she spoke to him. "Give it back." She stretched her hand forward only to be ignored by the man.

Joey decided to be the peacemaker. He stepped in and politely tried to trace back the bottle from Jimin. Jimin whipped up from the barstool, grabbed the bartender's collar and punched him on his face.

"On my God, what are you even" Hyejin screamed.

"It's okay, Hyejin. I'm fine," Joey said raising his both hands in peace. He was feigning a better person when his eyes contradictorily held annoyance and rage in them.

"You know those aggressive teen boys, you're being just like them. So immature and stupid. And your mannerisms? Even worse! Like those crazy kids locked up in Gwangju. Those crazy juveniles." Hyejin yelled.

Jimin made a deadly-long eye contact with Hyejin; his devious, sharp, piercing glare with its glint of psychotic arousal gave creepy chills running down the length of her.

"G-Get out!" the frightened woman yelled.

"What!" Yoongi let out in rage. "Park Jimin, are you talking about Park?"

Hyejin flinched and Sera told Yoongi to calm down. Sera was beyond disappointed and scared, the pressure on her only seemed to increase exponentially as hours passed.

"Hyejin, I'm gonna ask you a favour you might not forgive me for, but I have no other option."

Hanging her head in shame she continued. "Will you please not give a name to the police, or maybe say you don't remember what happened—"

"NO!! YOUR AUDACITY!! I NEVER THOUGHT YOU'RE SO SELFISH! SHAME!" Yoongi butted in.

"—He's not in the right mind. Even if you take him to the court, he'll not be imprisoned. He's turned mental, or he was too high, but the former seems more possible. He's not been behaving like himself, the mannerisms, the dressing, he doesn't remember anyone, behaves like he belongs to another world. He needs to be sent to an asylum, the court is only gonna delay that, Hyejin."

Yoongi had his hands on his head.

"Hyejin, don't listen to her. She's not your friend anymore, not mine too. She's a nobody who's brainwashing you."

Hyejin only continued crying, lesser than earlier. She seemed like she was lost in her thoughts.

"Get out of here, Sera!" Yoongi yelled.

"You're not supposed to yell in here, sir! I may have to ask you both to go out. Please!" The nurse who entered the room requested firmly.

As soon as Sera exited the room, she slammed herself on the wall, resting her hands and her hanging head on it. She bit her lips hard, trying not to breakdown. She wished she had her gun, she'd rather shoot her leg. Yoongi leaned against the wall, irritated and angered. He pulled out a pack of cigarette from his pocket then thrashed it dramatically to the ground on realizing where he was.

Yoongi could see Sera was extremely pained, he didn't know much about Jimin, but he sure knew Sera like no one else did. He chose to stay angered, howsoever.

"He's possessed by an evil spirit, it wasn't him. His soul is trapped somewhere and I don't even know if he'll ever come back," Sera said. She was crying internally without the tears.

"Well, we're not supposed to pay for that, it's all your fault then," Yoongi said in his chest voice. "It's gonna be Hyejin's decision, I'll stay neutral. I'll only take care of my Hyejin from now on. I hope you fix it, however fate plays it for you. Good luck, Sera." Yoongi walked away from her.

Sera had hoped that Hyejin hadn't claimed against Jimin, that would be the easiest solution. If she did, well then, it would be a waste; Hyejin had been heavily drunk the previous night, and there was testimony to the truth. What was else to say, Namjoon was a clever spirit. And Sera had no reason to question the expertise of a hitman in the evasion of evidence-leakage. It was all in Jimin's favour, but in the circumstance, until the case would be downright ignored, Sera wouldn't relax.

She couldn't find the nerve to call her and ask, she wasn't sure if Hyejin would answer her call. All the frustration was eating her soul.

Sera hadn't even connected with Seokjin since two days back. She was sure she'd lose her patience if she couldn't gather to get positive news from him. She was well aware of the process that called for the retracing of her Jimin, she didn't yet inform Seokjin of that. She decided to go on the journey with Seokjin and it was finalised in her head. She hoped the man wouldn't do it alone without informing her.

"...The bodies were found in a garbage bin by the backdoor of a restaurant. The mode of death was confirmed to be through bullets at the throat. Bullets were also traced from the genital area of the three bodies. Several other wounds were found. The bodies are sent for the postmortem report..." the news channel announced.

Ignoring the television, Sera left the remote control on the table and rushed upstairs when Hongnan called out from her room.

"...The dead men were identified to be the ex-members of a gang who worked under ex-convict and gang leader, Gong Gitak..." the television kept announcing for no one to pay heed to it.
