Chapter 1 chimchar

A fifteen year old girl with gray ish blue hair wearing a V-neck black mini dress with a white blouse underneath, red scarf, gold hair clips and a white beanie with a poke ball design in it, black over-knee socks, a yellow bag, pink short boots was watching TV. A few weeks ago there was a sighting of a red gyarados so people had gone crazy trying to look for it.

"Despite the exploration team's best efforts,however, the rare, oddly colored pokemon eluded detection. The rumored red gyarados failed to appear, even fleetingly, to the crestfallen team..."

"That concludes our special report, search for the red gyarados! Brought to you by jubilife TV on nationwide net! See you next week!same time,same channel!"

The girl sighed and shook her head. "If there really is a red gyarados I'm sure somebody must've caught it already.." She said walking downstairs to be met by her mom

Her mom was watching TV as well and smiles when she sees her daughter.

"Dawn!Barry came calling for you a little while ago. I don't know what it was, but he said it was an emergency"

"Wait really!?" Dawn asked worried.

Her mom nodded moved aside so that dawn can go. Dawn speed walked to the door and before she could run her mom stopped her.

"Oh,yes! Dawn!don't go into tall grass. Wild pokemon might attack you. It would be ok if you had your own pokemon, but you don't so.."

Dawn nodded "don't worry mom I won't!" She said running out.

She walked to Barry's house and on her way talked to the neighbors. She was about to knock on the door when a familiar blonde bumped into her making them both fall.

THUD!!

The boy obviously had blonde hair and orange eyes. He wore a short sleeve cardigan which come in orange and white stripes. He has gray pants,brown boots and a brown bag.

"Ow..Barry be careful!" Dawn said glaring at him.

"What was that about?! Oh,hey, dawn!" He said getting up "hey! I'm going to the lake! You come too! And be quick about it!ok,dawn?" He said "I'm fining you $1 million if your late!" He said ruining off.

But then returned "oh,jeez! Forgot something!" He said running back inside.

Dawn sighed as she got up
"This was the emergency?" She mumbled walking inside. She then took out her journal and wrote something down.

Then she walked inside and saw Barry's mother

"Oh,hi, Dawn. Did you come calling barry? He was gone for a second, but then he came running right back home. He just can't sit still,that boy. I wonder who he takes after?"

Dawn smiled as she walked upstairs. That's her best friend.
Can't sit still for one minute!

When she went upstairs she saw Barry in front of his PC.

"...I'd better take my bag and journal,too.." He said and then noticed dawn.

"Oh,hey,dawn! We're going to the lake! I'll be waiting on the road!
Its a $10 million fine if you're late!" He said running off and dawn knowing they'll both fall down the stairs if she doesn't move moved away.

She shook her head with a smile and walked down as well and exited her best friends house then wrote something else down on her journal.

She passed a few tree's and saw Barry up ahead.

"Hey, you saw that news report that was on TV, right?"

"Which one?"

"You know, search for the red gyarados! The mysterious appearance of the furious pokemon in a lake! That show got me to think" he said

Dawn gasped "you can think!? I thought you just acted out of impulse!"

Barry rolled his eyes "haha very funny! I'll bet our local lake has a pokemon like that in it, too! So, that's what we're gonna do. We'll go find a pokemon like that!"

Dawn rolled her eyes"Barry if they couldn't find it in other lakes what makes you think it'd be in our small one?"she said walking to lake variety

Barry shrugged "you never know! Maybe its hiding in our small one because it knows no one would look in the common lakes!"

Dawns sighed as they arrived

"What's going on...?" Barry asked quietly.

In front of them stood a young boy about their age and a old man looking at the lake.

"Professor,there's nothing out of the ordinary on the other side,either!" The young boy said.

"Hm...I may have been mistaken" the guy in the lab coat said "something appears to be different than it was before, but..
Fine! It's enough that we have seen the lake!" He said then turned to the boy "Lucas,we're leaving." He said and then turned to them but then looked back at the boy.

"Professor, you've been gone for four years now. How are you enjoying being back in sinnoh?" Lucas asked.

"...hm. There is one thing I can say. There are many rare kinds of pokemon in sinnoh. The region should serve us very well in regard to our studies." He said and then walked towards dawn and Barry.

"Excuse me. Let us pass,please" he said as dawn and Barry moved aside.

Lucas looked at them both with a apologetic smile "sorry,folks" was all he said and then followed after the professor.

Dawn however watched as the boy walked off. She felt a small blush appear but shook it off.

  The boy had the same hair color as dawn's. He wore a black undershirt with a black vest over it, a red scarf, blue baggy jeans, with red and grey shoes and a dark red hat with a semi poke ball design on it.

Dawn shook her head again
And then looked at Barry

"What was that about? Those two.." He said looking back after them as well and then looked back in front of him "huh? Dawn! Let's go check this out!"
He said pointing at the briefcase.

"Barry no! Remember we don't have a Pokemon we can't go into the tall grass!" Dawn said

"Don't go into tall grass? No problem, no problem! We won't be in there long enough for a wild pokemon to come out" he said and then dragged dawn to the briefcase.

"It's... A briefcase?" He said looking at it"those people forgot it here. What are we supposed to do with it? We can try to deliver it, but who are they? I heard them say professor..."

"Maybe-" dawn began but was cut off as two starly's attacked them.

"Waah! Po-pokemon?! What's going on?!" Barry said

Dawn took a step back and stumbled on the briefcase making it open.

"Look! These are poke balls! Let's battle using these!" He said

"Eh..? Which one do you want,then?"he asked

"There's no time for that Barry! Just grab one!" Dawn said ducking a attack.

Dawn grabbed a random poke ball and threw it. Out of the pokeball appears a red pokemon that looked like a monkey.

"Ah..use scratch!" She said

Chimchar used scratch on the starly

The starly growled at them

"Again!" She said and the pokemon used scratch making starly faint.

"Fwaaah! Your chimchar totally rocked! But my piplup was way tougher than yours!" He said and then returned his pokemon.

"..they were other people's pokemon, though... But we had to use them..they won't mind,will they?" He said

Dawn returned chimchar and the boy named Lucas walked up to them "whew! You found the briefcase?"

"The professor would've gone through the roof if he knew I forgot it here." He said and then saw their pokeballs.

"Hunh? Whaaaaat?! Did you guys..did you use these pokemon?! Oh,man..how am I gonna explain this to the professor?" Lucas asked to himself.

"ah! Were are so sorry!" Dawn said worriedly.

"Its fine but.." He said and sighed
"...this briefcase is the professor's, so I'll take it,ok?" He said grabbing it and leaving.

"What was that about?" Barry asked

Dawn shrugged with a worried sigh.

"I don't know what's going on. Dawn, let's get out if here. My pokemon got hurt from that battle" he said "If we get attacked by another pokemon, we might he in trouble." He said as he and dawn walked out.

"You go ahead..I know we have to go return these pokemon. They're not ours. But I want to spend just a little more time with this little guy.." He said and followed dawn back to twinleaf town.

On their way there they saw the same old guy and Lucas on the road.

"Hey,its those people! Is that old guy staring at us?" Barry asked

Dawn rolled her eyes "nooo..he's staring at you"

"Wait really!?" Barry asked scared

"No he's looking at us" dawn said face palming

"Oh.." Was all Barry said

The professor walked towards dawn "hmm..I heard from Lucas that you used our pokemon?" He said

"Ah..yes were terribly sorry! We
Wer-" she began but the professor raised his hand in a its ok motion

"Let me see them,please." He said as dawn and Barry released piplup and chimchar

"Hmm..chimchar and piplup.." He said and then stayed quiet
"Hm..I see...that's how it is..Lucas! I'm going back to my lab!" The professor said as he walked back.

Barry and dawn blinked and looked at each other then looked at Lucas.

"Uh..yeah, of course! Professor, wait for me!" He said and then looked at Barry and dawn. Well mostly dawn.

"You should visit us at our lab later,I think. We'll be seeing you!" He said running off after the professor.

"What was all that craziness about?" Barry asked oblivious of who Lucas was talking to directly
"I mean,if he was angry, he could've just yelled at us, or whatever.." He said before realizing something "and didn't he want his pokemon back?..?"

"Yeah..that's kind of confusing.."
Dawn said frowning slightly.

"Dawn..we should go home,too.." He said as they both walked home.

When dawn arrived home her mom was cooking. Her mom noticed dawn arrive so she went to her daughter "hey dawn,what's up?"

Dawn sighed and explained what happened.

"Wow. I can't believe that happened to you. Am I ever glad that both you and Barry are unharmed." Her mom said looking her over.

"Don't worry mom I'm fine" dawn said as her mom kept looking her over.

"The professor you mentioned is most likely professor rowan of sandgem town. I've heard that he is well know for his studies on pokemon"

"Wow really!?" Dawn asked excitedly.

Her mom nodded "I hear he's also quite intimidating...
Dawn, I think you need to visit him in sandgem town.  You need to properly explain why you had no choice but to use his pokemon." Her mom said.

"But what if he still doesn't understand?" Dawn asked

"Don't worry! I'm sure he'll understand. Oh, I know! Dawn,put these on." She said giving her a pair of running shoes.

Dawn put the running shoes on
"Going to sandgem town is like an adventure in itself, right? With those running shoes, you can get to faraway places much faster." Her mom said

"Ok then..bye mom!" Dawn said running out and running to sandgem town.
