Chapter 51

Olivia took deep breaths immediately she realized just how much attention she was getting. Everyone were beginning to get out their phones to record. Amanda scoffed as she slowly turned around to see. She felt so embarrassed.

"Why do you keep doing this?" She quickly turned back to Amanda. "You did it when we were younger, while we were growing up. You always made me the bad guy and you the good one, I never really bothered about it because I just thought that it didn't matter what anyone thought about me. You wanted to be a doctor so badly that I thought, maybe, just maybe if I was the bad guy, if I accepted that role, it would have helped you retain a good reputation as a doctor." Olivia exhaled

"You were supposed to be my best friend-" Her voice broke just as tears welled up in her eyes "My sister-"

Amanda exhaled, she took a quick scan around the room. Somehow, Olivia had managed to gain a lot of attention. It was really embarrassing. She turned to her.

"Olivia," she whispered.

"I had a hard time growing up, being tagged a child with issues, a dangerous child because of you but you forgot to mention that in court didn't you?"

"Olivia please," Amanda drew in a deep breath, lowering her voice a bit

"Maybe I should tell them."

"Don't." Amanda whispered.

Olivia slowly turned to the crowd.

"Maybe it's time I told you guys the real truth." She announced just as more phones were rising in the air. "The truth Amanda has been hiding from you this whole time."

"Olivia," Amanda reached for her hand right before Olivia pulled it away.

"This lady here!" She yelled pointing at Amanda, "This lady and Victoria have been lying to you all for a long time. We didn't meet at the foundation, we knew ourselves way before then."

Amanda exhaled. She didn't know what to do.

"On the thirteenth of May, nineteen ninety seven, it was said that I was kicked out on the streets by my froster parents when they found out I tried to kill their son, but I wasn't alone that night." Olivia nodded her head just as the crowd began to murmur loudly "I wasn't alone because Amanda was right there with me. Apparently," Olivia sniffed, cleaning her face with the back of her hands. "Apparently, we were both adopted illegally by the same foster parents in apapa, Lagos state."

"Oh my God," Rafael's friend tapped his arm "Bro, did you know about this?"

Rafael was too busy listening to even respond. He was really surprised just like everyone else in the crowd.

"But that's not all. " Olivia continued. "Did you also know we were both kicked out because Amanda tried to kill their only son? She stabbed him on his arm with a knife, a seventeen year old who always made advances at us then." She slowly turned to Amanda who had almost lost her balance from shock and was falling to the ground before the other ladies caught her

"Amanda." One of them called her name like it was going to stop her. Olivia knew better than to stop.

"And when Victoria's workers found us three days later, looking all wet and wretched from all that rain that had beat us from the night before, they looked me in the eye and asked me if I wanted to go home with them, to a place where I didn't have to be homeless or wet or scared anymore. They were going to leave her behind and she didn't like that. It terrified her, do you know what she did?" Olivia turned to Amanda.

"She told them to take her instead. She told them that I was a killer and had blood on my hands. She told them, I tried to kill someone and that was the reason we were kicked out."

The shock on Amanda's face was endless. How did Olivia know? She remembered that story well and from what she remembered, she had had that conversation with the people from the orphanage in confidentiality. Did Olivia eavesdrop on their conversation back then? Had she known all along and still pretended to be her friend? The noise got worse as the cameras turned in Amanda's direction. Everyone wanted her to at least defend herself.

"How could she?" Some people whispered to each other "How could you do that to your best friend?"

Amanda looked around. She had never been so embarrassed in her life.

"Because of the trauma I had as a child, I didn't talk much, I couldn't. My words were less and I was always scared, always scared of being alone so I didn't say anything. I thought if I just let them believe that, maybe they'd want to take Amanda too. I was just a child who was trying to save another child, a friend, or so I thought."

Amanda returned her gaze to Olivia, she couldn't believe it. She was trembling all over.

"Look how it turned out for me." Olivia turned fully to face her "I guess good deeds don't proceed good deeds after all. Amanda told the court I tried to kill my husband, that I talked to her about wanting him dead, she lied. Amanda was the one that told me to leave my husband with whatever means I knew how to, if I couldn't live with the pain anymore ."

The entire hall was so quiet just as the clicking sounds of cameras became louder, but this time they weren't on Olivia, they were on Amanda. Amanda tried to bury her head in shame, she couldn't even look at anyone in that state.

The lady close to Amanda scoffed out loud, clapping her hands in amusement as she walked as slowly as she could towards Olivia, gaining everyone's attention again. Olivia glared at her, of course she recognized her, who didn't?

Angela Amadi .

One of the most luxurious women Lagos state had ever known, known for four things and four things alone; sleeping with other people's husbands, getting her cheque, posting on the gram and trying to involve herself so bad in the lives of every verified page on Instagram.
Those were the four things, depicting the kind of woman she was.
Olivia had heard how she and Amanda suddenly became close friends three years after she was in jail.

"That's quite a story you have there Olivia Silver," she stopped in front of Olivia with a wry smile on her face. "I mean, we can still call you Silver isn't it?"

Olivia raised her brows, she was trying to know what her point was.

"Or maybe I should just ask Victoria."

The lady looked around.

"Victoria?!" She asked yelling Victoria's name, causing a few people in the crowd to chuckle softly but no one responded. She turned back to Olivia.

She clicked her tongue

"I guess Victoria isn't here but even if she was, we all know what her answer would have been, you are not a Silver, never was and never will be. "

Olivia scoffed, like being a Silver was something to be proud of.

"You're only like this because you got out of jail to find out there is nothing left for you. No mansion, no inheritance, no friends, no cash, not even your husband's shares and most importantly," The lady glared at her.
"No daughter."

Olivia frowned

"Isn't That What you've always been about? Why you got married to a Silver in the first place? Because you wanted to secure the bag? And when it didn't work out for you, you're now trying to channel all that anger and frustration into ruining someone else's life, a life Amanda has worked so hard to build for herself, something you've never been able to accomplish because while she was doing all that, you were busy fumbling your bags and playing housewife to a man that didn't even love you enough to let you live a day, one day, without turning you into his punch bag."

Olivia rolled her eyes. Thank God for the alcohol in her system, the only thing stopping her from actually being remotely emotional.

"O-Kay?"

"That's right. You're just bitter because you don't know what it's like to have something doing on your own, because you have nothing good going on in your life. All you do, all you've ever done is rely and depend on people to save you. You did it before and you're doing it again. "Oh, I'm Olivia, I've been through a lot as a child, I have a very bad trauma , I easily get scared and I am a weak little lady, please save me" " The lady slouched her shoulders, feigning the most tiny and pathetic voice ever, trying to sound like Olivia just as she made the crowd laugh again.

The woman stood straight. She gave her a few seconds and then chuckled.

"Wow, " She sneered at Olivia "Jail did a good one on you. You're not bursting into tears like you used to." She said beneath gritted teeth.

She scoffed.
Olivia clicked her tongue.
Not this time. She wasn't going to let anyone win this time, she wasn't going to be intimidated by anyone or cry because of anyone.

"You're so annoying." The lady continued "So, so annoying. You make me want to vomit and then eat it back. So now, because you can't relate to ever making a bag on your own, you're trying to pull down someone that does?" The lady scoffed "Pathetic."

"That makes two of us." Olivia said scratching her brows gently. The woman frowned.

"What did you just say?"

Olivia turned to look at her

"Oh," she stretched her hand to the woman, looking sorry. "I didn't just mean the pathetic part, I also meant the part where you said I couldn't relate to ever making my own bag. That makes the both of us."

"What?" The woman's frown got worse.

"I mean, we all know what you do to secure "your" bag Angela, and even after all that, after all those years, your money never really did fit into a bag did it? It was always a purse, a really tiny purse."

Olivia clicked her tongue

"You used to really like me back then Angela." Olivia looked at her nodding her head. "Remember how you always asked if you could borrow my Versace bag or my jimmy cho shoes? Or was it my expensive diamond necklace or one of my gold rings?" Olivia pretended to think.

"I think it was one of my cars. You used to borrow everything from me back then, a common pathetic housewife. From my louboutin shoes to my mark jacobs perfume, down to my D and G sunglasses. You always wore them all for the gram. You loved it when we went shopping together because that was your only chance to ever get the expensive stuff you couldn't get on your own. Flying first class with me, eating at expensive restaurants with me," Olivia chuckled. She couldn't even help herself

"You used to do a lot sticking to me especially when you needed me to show up with you in public for an event, lord if I had asked you to kiss my fat ass for one of the diamond studs on my wrist watches back then, you'd have buried your whole face in it." Olivia shook her head.
"How fast do you people bite the fingers that used to feed you? Aren't you going to deny it?" She asked the woman "I dare you to."

Angela bit hard on her lips right before she looked around. She was so embarrassed, especially with the way people were smirking at her in a jest-full manner, whispering to themselves.

"This is so embarrassing." She could hear one of the women beside her whisper to another one.

"Seven hundred million." Olivia announced as she took a tiny tour around the woman that stood in front of her, glaring at her carefully from head to toe till she finally made a stop right where she started.

"That was what I was worth six years ago excluding my shares at Silver Group." she turned to the crowd "Not one of you women, who had pretty jobs and all that could beat that, and it was just because I sat at home with my legs crossed fulfilling my duties as a common regular house wife." she rested her eyes on Angela "Not even the number of politicians and rich men you slept with could ever beat that or turn you to one. You were never my competition, not in the past, not right now and definitely not in the future. You can't even walk in the path I walk on, you could never walk faster than my shadow even if you tried."

Angela could hear the ladies beside her force themselves not to laugh and that was all Olivia had to say to get the whole hall silent again. No one made a sound or moved a muscle, they just stood there watching them, basking in the moment.

Click!

The sound of cameras on Angela's face.

Then more.

Angela's frown was so deep, anyone could see fumes from her head and fury in her eyes with the way she glared at Olivia.

"How dare you do this to me?"

Olivia shrugged her shoulders

"I didn't do anything to you."

"How dare you embarrass me like this?!" The woman yelled "How dare you?!"

She raised her hand to hit Olivia. Everyone gasped in surprise. They saw it coming, including Olivia, with the way she had rolled her tongue earlier, she knew there was nothing that was going to stop her from getting beat up so she shut her eyes, ready for it and ready to hit her back right after.

One, two, three!

It didn't come. All she could hear were louder murmurs and gasps. She slowly let her eyes open one after the other. She could see the surprise look on Angela's face while her left hand was suspended in the air like it was stuck. She was staring surprisingly at someone too, Olivia slowly raised her head and gasped the moment she saw Rafael glaring at Angela, a huge frown on his face, while he held on firmly to her hand.

She couldn't believe it. Did he just save her from getting hit real hard on her face by that really angry woman?

"You must have a death wish." His cold voice made Angela tremble especially since the way he kept glaring at her

"R-Rafael ," Angela whispered his name just as Austin rushed into the hall as fast as he could, looking like he had just arrived at the party and.m heard the news from outside so he forgot everything the event planners had planned out for him and how he was supposed to make a great entrance after his name was announced as heir.

He was breathing heavily but then, worrying if Olivia was okay. His breathing began to normalize as soon as he met the scene. He narrowed his gaze towards them.

"Don't you ever, try to do that again."
Rafael continued, still glaring at the woman. He flung her hand back as hard as he could that she almost fell if not for her friends and Olivia who was almost pushed to help her before she felt Rafael's huge cold hands grab hers, engulfing her hands completely in his.

She looked at him. There was not a single smile on his face. He was upset, really upset. She could see how hard he tried to control how upset he was.

"Come with me." He tightened his grip on her and pulled her away from the crowd.
