Chapter 25
The Jury announced it loud enough for everyone to hear over the noise. The Heads liked the sound of it and jumped into the arena. More Guards entered from the entrance as well.
Aaron was confronted by Pierre. He noticed the bruises on Pierre's face and laughed.
"You seemed to have been beaten a lot."
"It'll be worse for you."
Pierre pounced onto him. Aaron smiled as he liked the sound of it and charged towards him as well.

Lucas and Leila were surrounded by the rest. Lucas stood in front of her to protect her since she was still chained. He had his gun aimed at them as he knew they could attack at any moment.
The Heads glanced at each other and signaled. While Lucas was caught off guard, they ganged on him.
He had no trouble blocking the attacks until he got kicked in his injured leg. He ended up kneeling down and struggled to stand up as his leg felt heavy. The attack continued and he was starting to have difficulty defending himself.

Leila watched horribly and called out for Alex. Alex quickly rushed out to block the sword that was about to slash Lucas from the back. The Head couldn't pull his sword away from Alex's grip. Alex gripped it tighter and broke the sword in half.
Lucas was already running out of breath but he managed to stand as Alex helped him up. His energy seemed to have drained away and could collapse anytime soon. Leila wanted to help him out but she couldn't break herself free from the chains.
She noticed one of the Head was heading towards them with his sword. She swiftly moved towards him and turned around. Just as the Head swung the sword, she held the chain up.
The chain was sliced apart and she broke free. She kicked him in the stomach before he could attack her and headed towards Lucas as fast as she could.
There were way too many to handle. Alex ended up focusing on attacking the ones that surrounded him. Heads were way stronger than Guardians and with his injury, Lucas was having difficulty keeping up with them.
He became slower in responding and the side of his waist ended up getting slashed. He swayed backwards and held the side where blood dripped off. He aimed and managed to shoot the hand of the person who cut him so that he had more time to spare to rest.
His body started to feel heavy and his sight started to blur. He couldn't control himself and fell backwards. Luckily, Leila managed to catch him.
He glanced up at her and could not help but smile. He managed to observe her face and tug her hair behind her ear.
"You look beautiful as usual, my angel."
He coughed as he spoke.
"Now is not the time to be flirting."
She whined but he just laughed it off. He noticed the Head behind Leila and quickly shot him. It was not the time to lose focus but he had difficulty controlling his movements.

Aaron glanced over and noticed that they were having trouble.
"Where are you looking?!"
Pierre punched him in the face. Aaron immediately responded by kicking him in the stomach. Pierre coughed out blood. It seemed like he hadn't fully recover from the previous night.
"I'm going to break your skull."
He reached out to grab hold of Aaron's head angrily. However, Aaron easily dodged his punches and shifted to his back. He shot him in the legs which made Pierre fall and not being able to attack further.
"Sorry I don't have time to play with you," He told him as he headed towards Leila and Lucas.

Lucas was having difficulty moving and Leila was also exhausted as she had yet to fully recover from the wounds. If that continued, both of them would be caught in a tight situation. She noticed several Heads rushing towards their direction and braced herself.
Alex pushed the Heads he was fighting with and blocked as much Heads as he could from reaching them. Leila quickly placed Lucas down and reflected attacks from two other Heads.
Little did they know that there was one who had his gun aimed at Lucas the entire time.

Aaron noticed the gun was being aimed at Lucas. He calculated the consequences and realized that if he went towards that Head then it would be too late. He decided to head towards Lucas and blocked the bullet instead.
In the end, he got shot in the chest and collapsed onto the floor.
He still had his consciousness and used his last energy to pull the trigger of his gun to shoot the arm of the Head who shot him. He was having difficulty breathing through his mask so he held it up a bit.
Leila stood at her spot as she watched Aaron stumbled onto the floor. He squeezed his chest hard enough for him to cough out blood with the bullet in it.
"What are you doing here? Are you defying us, Aaron?"
Aaron slowly lifted his head so that he could look at the Jury who asked him the question. He laughed and shook his head as he found it amusing. He pushed himself from the floor and looked at him. "I never obeyed you, your Honor," he said as he pulled off his mask.
He glanced at Leila and then back at the Jury.
"I'm Tyler Hexan, the previous Guardian of the Night, also known as the escaped sinner."
People gasped after hearing his introduction and started buzzing. Leila slowly moved forward. She stopped when she reached to him and looked at him in the eyes. Aaron wished he could stand up but he did not have the strength to so he just gave her a weak smile. She knelt down in front of him.
He knew she was blaming herself but this had nothing to do with her. He wanted to use his last few minutes to tell her everything that he had never had the chance to.
"I'm sorry for everything." He reached out to touch her face. "Thank you for everything. Sorry I couldn't complete that painting." He laughed despite the sharp pain he felt in his chest.
He used his thumb to push the corner of her lips up to form a smile.
"I was really happy to be your friend as Aaron and... as Tyler."
And those were his last words before completely closing his eyes and lying cold on the floor.

Lucas watched him in silent. He couldn't grasp hold of the situation. Everything happened too fast and there were so much going on.
He noticed a Guardian appearing behind Leila so he quickly shot him which snapped Leila back to reality.
Everything had fallen apart for her. She couldn't do anything. She had brought such pain and trouble to her loved ones.

"Seize them!"
The Jury ordered his men. Lucas, who couldn't retaliate, ended up being held up by them. He tried to escape but was too injured to move. Leila was also held by them.
"Based on the law, intruders and outsiders are to be punished heavily."
Suddenly, laughter exploded which brought silence to the entire room. Leila laughed hysterically.
"Law?" she asked in a mocking way. She tilted her head at the Jury and smirked, "Are you trying to say there's law in Galax and you are doing this for justice?"
"You don't get it, Angel. You are supposed to be begging for your life."
He took out his arrow and aimed it at her. She raised her eyebrow. Death was never a threat to her.
But then, his hands slowly moved to another direction. Her eyes followed his move and realized that he was aiming for Lucas.
"You get it, don't you?" he laughed as he released his bow.
"Alex!" she called out as she pushed the two Guards holding her with force to escape and ran towards Lucas. She moved as fast as she could so that she would make it on time.
Lucas closed his eyes shut as the arrow headed towards him. He felt a gush of wind blew across his face and felt the grip from his arm released. He fell backwards but someone caught him. He knew who those familiar hands belonged to. The Guards who had been holding onto him had been blown away from him. He slowly opened his eyes to find out what was happening.
Alex had gripped hold of the steel arrow and broke it into half. Leila was beside him and she slowly put him down. She stood in front of him and touched the back of Alex. Wind blew strongly around her causing all the glasses in the room to shatter into pieces. When the wind slowly disappeared, Leila held two swords made of gold and white handle.
Lucas figured out that Alex had also disappeared and noticed the initial 'A' written on the handle of her swords. Alex was really her swords. It finally made sense. His monstrous power could have only been possible if he was the holy sword of an Angel.
Leila formed a cross with her swords and sliced the air. Feathers busted in the air and gathered around her back.
And that was the first time, Lucas saw her beautiful wings.
Leila pointed her sword at the Jury and her eyes were cold and serious.
"You know the difference between an Angel and a Galaxian."
The Jury gulped and could not respond to her.
"I'm not here to fight. I'm willing to take in any punishments that you set."
She glanced back at Lucas and then back to the Jury.
"Ethically that is."
The Jury gritted his teeth and settled back down in his seat. Even thousands of men would not be able to handle a fully grown Angel. He hammered the bell thrice and requested for his men to fall back.
••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••
Everyone headed back to their places while those who were injured were carried away to get treated which included Aaron. She watched him being carried away and bowed at him.
"Thank you for being my friend, Tyler."
She placed a feather on his body to send her regards.
Jacob and Ryan had to go back to the watching area. They worriedly watched the scene unfold.
Lucas and Leila stood in the middle of the court.
The Jury sighed deeply and held up his papers. The record had been rewritten and in correct order.
"Leila Song, the Guardian Angel and Lucas Huang, the Guardian of the Day. You've engaged in an act where you've broken the law. While Leila had been banned from interacting with any Galaxians unless approved, Lucas had communicated and visited her. He had also skipped duties which could have led to natural disasters in human world."
The two patiently waited to receive their punishment. He cleared his throat before continuing, "For that, you will be forbidden to see each other from this day onwards."
"What?!" Lucas snapped, "Anything but that!"
The Guards bowed at Lucas as they seized him to take him away. He did not resist since it had been settled but it was still too much for him to handle. Leila quickly ran towards him and held his hand in between hers. He squeezed her hands and shook his head.
"Leila, I-I can't do this. It's too much. Just when I almost had you."
Her heart fell as she listened to him. She cupped his face and gave him a warm smile.
"Don't worry. I'll do something about it. I promise," she assured him. Don't lie.
Leila released her grip and pulled him into a tight hug. "I'm not lying. I promise you we'll meet again." She pulled her arms away from him so that she could get a clear look at him.
"One day for sure," She told him and grinned just like the first dinner they had together. Just like the other times when they parted. Those words that gave him hope.
Lucas knew the low possibility but he felt like he could believe in her like he always did. With one last hope, he smiled at her and nodded his head.
"One day for sure then."
