Chapter 12

Leila crossed her arms as she waited for his answer.

"Well?"

He shook his head and told her it was nothing.

"How did you end up here?"

Leila looked over his shoulder and pointed towards the watch. Lucas followed her direction and noticed that the hands of the watch had started moving. She went over and saw the feather which made her gasp.

"Where did you get that? Don't tell me you touch the watch with it."

He didn't know how to respond. His expression was blank. He nodded and looked down to avoid eye contact with her.

"I'm sorry. I took it from your office the other day. It was just-"

Leila cut him off and smiled.

"Do you like it?"

That was all she simply asked.

"Of course."

He loved everything and anything if it has to do with her. Her smile was so precious, warm and angelic.

"Then keep it."

His heart fell. Leila was always sweet to him whereas he was always hesitating.

"Will I get to sit?"

He forgot that she had been standing the entire time. He quickly pulled out a chair for her to sit.

He didn't know what to say. He felt bad and sorry about everything.

"You don't have to," she said as if she read his thoughts, "I'm the one who should be sorry. Aaron was too much."

Aaron this. Aaron that. Everything was about Aaron. He couldn't take it anymore. He felt pathetic whenever he heard his name. He wanted to puke.

"Lucas. Are you alright?"

He nodded although he obviously wasn't alright. He glanced at her who looked so perfect just sitting there.

He licked his lips and his throats went dry. He didn't know what was happening to him but his heart ached. So many emotions filled him up and he started to feel nauseous. He got up and swayed.

"Are you alright?" She rushed over to support him. He wanted to tell her he's fine but he didn't have the energy to.

"Lucas? What's wrong? Answer me."

He pulled her by her wrist and pinned her against the wall. His breath was getting heavy but his strength was still strong. Also, Leila did not even flinch.

He scanned her face and let his burning desire took control over him. He landed his lips on hers.

His mind was blank. He couldn't think. All he knew was that he was screwed. He knew she was going to hate him for taking advantage. But she didn't. Instead she let him fill her in completely.

Lucas released her hands and hugged her waist to pull her in closer, deepening the kiss.

He loved how their arms were wrapped around each other. The kiss felt sweet and passionate. He wanted it to last forever.

When he finally parted his lips, Leila looked up at him with her round blue eyes, full of innocence and smiled. She was beautiful, everything about her was.

"I love you."

She chuckled and leaned in, landing a peck on his cheek as a return. She buried her face in his chest to hide her blush while Lucas's cheek flushed and his heart thumped loudly.

He really meant that and he knew that he didn't want to lose her. He couldn't even bear to think of it.

Lucas opened his eyes after tossing around the bed, giggling like an idiot as he recalled the kiss.

It was time for his duty so he got up to put on his uniform and got ready for his duty. He wrapped the watch around his wrist and placed the feather into a small glass container. He smiled as he did that and kept it inside his pocket. He was ready for work.

Or not.

The moment he arrived in his office, he was greeted by piles of papers on his desk and a busy work schedule on his monitor. Louis came into his room and passed him another piece of paper.

"Sir, you have a meeting with the Head of Sky."

He hummed and took the paper. He slowly processed what Louis said and his eyes widened.

"Wait...What?"

He read the paper quickly and gaped. He had been focusing on his work and making sure that he made no mistakes so that he didn't have to write any report. To be precise, he did not want to meet him.

But he still had to meet with him.

The Head of the Sky, Aaron.

••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••

The two were stuck in the conference room. Only the two of them over a cup of tea. Everything was awkward and minutes seemed liked hours. All Lucas had been doing was to stare at his cup nervously the entire time as Aaron calmly ran through the report.

He wanted this to end quickly but that wasn't happening.

Aaron slid the papers over the table towards Lucas.

"According to the report, we will need to work more on the temperature."

He continued explaining about work while Lucas just nodded to everything he said.

Aaron stopped and sighed.

"Are you even listening?"

Lucas nodded again. He was listening but not providing him full attention. He just wanted this to be over.

"So any ideas?"

Lucas blinked and for the first time during the entire meeting, he glanced up at Aaron. He kept quiet as he did not have any answers to give.

Aaron banged on the table, causing him to shudder.

"Do you think I want to be here as well?!"

Aaron got up and placed his hands on the table flat as he leaned in.

"Or is it that you wanted to continue from that night?"

A smirk formed on Aaron's face which made Lucas swallow his saliva thickly. Lucas shifted a bit backwards. He glared at him and gritted his teeth.

Surprisingly, Aaron just busted out laughing and shook his head.

"Don't worry. I'd rather not."

A knock on the door was heard and Louis came in, "Sir Aaron, you need to head to another meeting."

He nodded his head and turned to Lucas, "Well, I would like some answers when I'm back."

••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••

Only after Aaron left, Lucas could finally breathe. He really wanted to finish this quickly and the only way possible was to come up with ideas.

He flipped through the report in front of him quickly and wrote down some of the ideas he could think of. As he wrote, he glanced at his watch, not to check the time since it was obviously not moving but to be reminded of Leila.

He put his hand in his pocket and took out the container with his feather inside.

"I wish I can see you now. Being stuck with Aaron is like the worst. It's so awkward and I feel like I'll get choked anytime soon," he talked to the feather as if he was talking to Leila.

He stared at the feather and recalled what Leila said yesterday and something ticked in his head.

He decided to give it a try by wiping the watch using the tip of the feather.

He turned his head around in his seat but there was no sight of Leila. His watch did start to work but it was useless if there was no Leila. He placed his head down on the table and held the papers in front of his face, trying to read the report so that he could end the meeting immediately when Aaron comes back.

There was a knock on the door and Lucas believed his worst nightmare had come back. With a sigh, he got up and went to open the door for the person to come in.

The moment he turned the knob and recognized the person standing behind the door, his lips curved up automatically.

••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••

"Are you that happy to see me?"

Leila tiptoed to actually reach to his height and whispered into his ear. The sudden breath on his ear made him jump a bit and totally ended up blushing like a red tomato. It was too cute that Leila couldn't help but ended up laughing heartily.

Lucas escorted her to sit down beside him.

He got his papers out and continued his task as Leila observed the room in awe and excitement, "So this is how the conference room looks like."

Lucas paused what he was doing and turned towards her.

"Is this your first time here?"

She nodded her head shyly, "I'm not allowed anywhere public."

She gave him a weak smile and Lucas was internally killing himself for making things awkward.

"Well, what are you doing?"

She changed the topic to brighten things up. Lucas shifted the report papers to the side so that she can see it as well.

"Report for the day. Weather problems on Earth."

Just then, a sudden curiosity rose in him.

"So, I can just call you using this feather? Like a genie?"

He pointed at the feather and glanced at Leila who chuckled like the cutest thing he had ever seen in his entire life. The boy was totally in love.

"Unless I cut off the connection. But yes, you can."

It actually made him happy after Leila told him that the feather could help him meet her. This meant that he could see her more often.

"So, you have been sitting here alone this whole time?"

"Um no I was having meeting with Aaron..," he paused and panicked after he realized what he said. "Well no I mean..."

He sighed heavily and glanced at her who just smiled patiently as she waited for him to complete his sentence.

"He's the Head of the Sky so he's my superior."

"Did he do anything to you?" she asked with a tint of worry and anger mixed inside her voice. He assured her that nothing happened and received a sigh of relief in return.

"He's a good person. Just that he has anger management issues. Please understand him."

He just nodded and smiled.

"Well, is your hand alright?" She pointed at his bandaged hand, "I didn't get to ask you last time I met you... you know."

She nervously chuckled and playfully tapped on the table after she said that. Her cheeks reddened and she looked down.

Lucas noticed her blush and wondered why. Slowly, he recalled what occurred that night and choked on air.

"It-its fine. I'm feeling better. Thank you."

He could not help but smile as he glanced at Leila who was blushing as hard as him.

Time passed by and their conversation broke. Lucas had been cracking his mind to come up with ideas on how to start the conversation and continuing it instead of breaking it.

He made up his decision and turned to face Leila to just say anything that first came up to his mind.

"Can I kiss you?!"

And that was the moment where his soul had escaped from his body after he murdered himself a thousand times inside.

Leila placed her chin on her hand.

"I don't remember you asking for my permission last time," She teased him. Her eyes still fixed on his.

He was flustered by her comment.

Her response was a simple laughter. Anything she did just looked so beautiful in his eyes, setting his heart to beat faster.

She leaned in towards his face and he felt something soft touched his cheeks. She removed her lips and turned away to hide her face that had completely gone red while Lucas was still stunned by what had happened.

She cleared her throat and turned back to face him.

"Just be satisfied with this today. Need to head for duty now."

Obviously, he was not satisfied but he eventually gave in to those beautiful round brown eyes.

The two stood at the doorway. He wanted to send her back to her office but he still had to wait for Aaron.

She knew that Lucas felt bad that he was not able to send her off all the time but she assured him that it was not a problem. He surely didn't want her to leave but it's not like he had a choice.

"Well then. Bye." She turned to leave but was stopped when Lucas grabbed her wrist. He held her chin and tilted it upwards as he kissed her forehead.

"Yeah good bye."

She giggled and playfully punched him in the chest.

"Getting too bold, aren't you?"

She scrunched her nose before smiling brightly.

Lucas closed the door and went back to his seat. He couldn't stop smiling after that.

••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••

Lucas did not stop smiling even after Aaron came back from his meeting.

"Can you stop that?"

Lucas blinked at him innocently as he was confused with his question.

Aaron was obviously creeped out by him, "Stop smiling like an idiot."

His smile immediately dropped as he was hurt by his sharp comment.

"You didn't have to be so mean."

"Whoah I'm sorry then."

••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••

Their meeting went smoothly. Lucas's ideas seemed to be appropriate for the current situation and it would also be useful in future circumstances. They decided to end the meeting since they have achieved their goal.

"You should stay away from her."

Aaron warned him again as they were packing. Lucas paused and looked at him.

"I will do what I want."

"You know nothing about her."

"Well, I'll make sure I learn more about her then. I have decided to love her no matter what."

Aaron's face darkened a bit. Lucas felt that Aaron was hesitating to speak. It felt as if there was a lump stuck in his throat or there was something that prevented him from speaking as he wishes.

He waited patiently until Aaron looked at him straight in the eye.

"Even if she is different from us?"
