SEQUEL
I've spent a lot of time thinking about whether or not to write a sequel. Most readers think it's an obvious decision, but here's the holdup:
1. I've already thought of a few ideas for the sequel, and it will be nothing at all like "Single Father." The characters would of course stay the same, but this book was about growing up. A sequel would feature more grown-up problems, mainly revolving around romantic relationships. There would still be family relationships as well, but it wouldn't necessarily be the same focus. That is to say, a sequel to "Single Father" won't carry the same message as "Single Father" concerning family and all of that.
2. I don't want to ruin "Single Father." Often, standalone books hold more weight. They are what they are, and they don't need anything more or anything less to detract from them. I'm worried that making a sequel would ruin "Single Father," as it's a full beginning-to-end story in and of itself. Sure, there are a few loose ends that could use tying up, little unresolved problems, but is it worth ruining the original?
But I also realize that a lot of you have come to relate to these characters. Some of you are very upset that this book ended.
So here's my compromise:
I will publish the preview, but I'm going to need more time to decide whether or not it's a book that needs writing. If I do write it, please realize up front that it's going to be a lot shorter than this one because I have more things I need to focus on.
So I'll put up the preview so you can add it to your libraries if you wish, but don't expect updates for a while (if I decide to write it at all). You're welcome to submit your feedback on the matter, as I'm genuinely interested in what my readers have to say about it.
Thank you!
Disclaimer: the title and cover are really only meant to connect the sequel to the first book. The book isn't really about Namjoon, more about the kids, so be aware of that going in.
