Culture presents to us all the reasons we need to be in relationships. Ladies and Gentlemen, relationships are not a bad idea. I get the feeling that you think I am disregarding the importance of having relationships. I am not! I love relationships. Whenever I hear that a friend of mine got into a relationship, I am so excited for them and I would be excited even for you reader. However, I want you to own your singleness. Own it! Work on your self. 

Myth 1: You are unlovable

 Your eyes watched me before I was born. Before I had seen the light of day,

you decided how many days I would live! You wrote it down in your book.

17 You have so many thoughts about me, God, that I cannot understand them all.

18 They are too many for me to count, more than the sand on the shore of the sea.

Even if I finished counting them, you would still be there! - Psalm 139:14-16 (EASY)

A lot of times people joke about the single people. And sometimes those jokes can become a little personal. People will make you seem as though you are not likable and perhaps unlovable. There was a time I mentioned to a guy that I had been single for some time and his response shocked me. He was amazed that I was single. He made it seem as though it's impossible to live as a single human and experience happiness. I want you to know that God loves you and when you know it within the core of your being, everything about yourself will change. 

David was so bold enough to declare that God loved him. As busy as God is, listening to our prayers, observing the planets, especially planet Earth, but He had the time to watch David before he was born. How amazing! God watches you too. He has many thoughts about you. Not one thought, but many thoughts about you and who you are. 

He chose to make us his children. He used his true message to do that. Because of that, we are like the first special gift that belongs to him from among all people. - James 1:18 (EASY)

God chose to make us His children. You are God's special gift and no person should make you feel any less than that. But how can you know that you are special to God if you do not have a relationship with Him? The most important relationship you will ever have is the one you have with God. Without knowing God, it becomes a little difficult to accept yourself and to love yourself as you progress spiritually. 

So, because we are God's children, we should know what God is really like. He is not a thing like an idol. Clever people use gold or silver or stone to make idols. But God is not like these things that people may worship.  - Acts 17:29 (EASY)

I love the very first part of this Scripture. Because we are God's children, we should know what God is really like. Why is it important to know that you are God's child? Well, it helps your condition of singleness. When you know what God is like, you will know how much He loves you, well, at least, have some understanding of His love towards you. When you know you are loved by God, what others say, won't matter. People's opinions are not really important. What God thinks about you is more important. He is our Father. He is your Father. 

Myth 2:  Single people are unhappy people

Single people are not unhappy people. A lot of times people in relationships are stressed. Angry. Always trying to please another person and failing. You should be happy with who you are and be responsible for your happiness. Thinking that a relationship will make you happy is putting a whole lot of expectation on another person. We are people. We make people happy, sometimes we don't. But when you decide to be responsible for your own happiness, you won't get disappointed when your special someone doesn't meet that requirement. It should be met by yourself. If you cannot be happy as a single guy/girl, I am sorry. Okay, I'm kidding. Here's what you can do. 

You will lead me along the path of life. Because you are with me, I am very happy. I know that I will be with you for ever, and that makes me very happy! - Psalm 16:11 (EASY)

God's presence can make you happy. In God's presence, there is peace and joy. If you are unhappy, use this psalm as your prayer. Ask God to fill you with joy and happiness. If you are unhappy as a single person, you will be unhappy with your partner. Find happiness in God. And be happy with who you are. 

  You have never seen Jesus, but still you love him. You do not see him now, but you believe in him. As a result, you are very happy. There are no words to describe how happy you are. - 1 Peter 1:8 (EASY)

Why is happiness connected to salvation? When you receive salvation, you are happy. Do you wanna know why? Okay. I got you. Let's read the next verse. 

You are happy now because God is saving you from sin. You believe in Jesus, and you know that God saves you because of that. - 1 Peter 1:9 (EASY)

The reason you are happy is because you know that Jesus saved you from your sin. Boy, am I happy that He saved me from my sins! I was terrible! I have to be happy. You know, friends can make you happy. Siblings. Parents. Even your significant other. My friends make me happy. Even my siblings do, but they cannot be my source of happiness. Find happiness in God. Find happiness in Jesus. Find happiness in the comfort of the Holy Spirit. 

Enjoy the beauty of singleness. Remember, the success of your relationship with people, is a measure of how successful you are as an individual or as a single person. If you haven't started making yourself happy, start now. Have a date with yourself. Take yourself out to dinner and dress up girl! You too brother. Look good in that tux, and buy food and eat alone! Man, I see God blessing with you joy and extreme happiness. Shalom.
