And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you[] shall surely die." - Genesis 2:16-17 (NKJV)

God's word directs our lives. Without the word of God, man starts to degenerate. God gave man His word and expected him to obey it. When I say man, I mean all humans. Every female and every male out there. God's gift to us is His word. In His word, we learn about Him. We discover who we are. We discover what we are required to do. Adam wouldn't have been able to function without God's word.

A special treasure to God 

Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel." - Exodus 19:5-6 (NKJV)

Obeying God's word makes you a special treasure to God. Because, many people do not obey what God says. When you obey Him, He will take notice of you. God will say one thing and we'll do another. But when God finds somebody that obeys Him, He finds somebody that is a treasure to Him. 

The bible says, "You shall be a special treasure to me above all people." I think I'd want to be a special treasure to God. And all we have to do is to obey His word and to love His covenant. A covenant is an agreement. God is faithful to His promises. He fulfills what He says. He does not lie. He is not like man. He keeps His word. 

God's word manifests the person of Jesus 

You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. - John 5:39 (NKJV)

God's word testifies of Jesus. Whenever you study the word of God, look for Jesus. Why? Because the bible says, "He is the author and finisher of our faith." 

looking unto Jesus, the []author and []finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:2 (NJKV)

Jesus is the author of our faith. Everything is about Jesus. Your personal knowledge of Jesus is important. You need to personally know that Jesus loves you. You need to personally know that Jesus is the only true son of God. You need to know that Jesus gives eternal life. You need to know that Jesus is the only way. 

God's word heals our frailties 

He sent His word and healed them,
And delivered them from their destructions. - Psalm 107:20 (NKJV)

God sent us His word to heal us. Every issue of the heart and every deep issues can be healed by the word of God. How you ask? Well, Jesus is the word. God's word makes us who we are. God's word purifies us and makes us attuned to the image of the Christ; the son of the living God. God's word has a purpose of healing, restoring and delivering. 

Jesus is the word of God

And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. - John 6:35 (NKJV)

Jesus is the bread of life. Here we see that the word of God gives us life. The word of God gives us vitality. Yes, we might be struggling with a whole lot of stuff. But look, God's word is the life you need. Relationships do not cure us. Relationships do not make us any better than we already are. Of course, relationships build us up. That is true. However, only God's word can give us life. The bible says, "He who comes to me shall never hunger." God's word is our satisfaction. God's word is what makes us content. God's word is more than enough for us. Money doesn't satisfy. You'll keep wanting to have more. Relationships do not satisfy. You'll keep looking and searching for more. 

But God's word fulfills it's life-giving power within us. Do you believe it? Do you believe that God uses His word to heal us from past pain and hurts and all the breakups we might have had to endure? Nobody can do the believing for you. It's personal to you. 

Jesus is the word that sets the captive free

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me []to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are []oppressed; - Luke 4:18 

God's word has the active power of God. The anointing simply speaks of the Holy Ghost. Where there is an anointing there is the Spirit of God. God's word is able to teach you. To heal you. To proclaim liberty. To recover our sights and to set at liberty those who are oppressed. 

What's God's solution for broken relationships? His word. A broken heart needs healing. That is why the word of God says, "He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted." It's not another boyfriend you need. What you need is the word of God. God's word heals. When we give God's word its proper value and significance, we would never want to do anything beyond what the word of God says. 

Everything has it's time and season. There is a time to date. There is also a time to be single. Did you know that singleness is a prerequisite for dating? And dating is a prerequisite for marriage? And marriage is a prerequisite for divorce? So if you need one before another thing happens. Do you not think if we were successful in being single, we could be successful in our relationships? Because it all goes back to singleness. An honorable marriage is not automatic just because we are Christians. Godly relationship do not happen on the basis of being Christian. A godly relationship is planned and its a result of the input of two godly individuals. Once one is not godly, the godly relationship cannot exist. 

Perhaps you have been in an ungodly relationship and it might have been traumatizing. I understand. I have been in a ton of those. But everybody can recover. And as God heals us, may He make us into vessels that love His word. You cannot have a godly relationship without the word of God.
