Everything through prayer, nothing without prayer

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. - Philippians 4:6 (NLT)

One of the my favorite scriptures about prayer is the scripture above. God says, "Pray about Everything." Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. What is it like to pray about everything?

If it's an issue, there's a place in your closet where you can talk to God about it. Pray about your sexual desires. Pray about your finances. Pray about your future and talk to God about the seemingly most insignificant things about yourself. Talk to God about your insecurities. Tell Him about your fears. And talk to God about your relationship with people. There's many kinds of prayers to pray in the bible, and one of the most important prayers are prayers that come from your heart. When you don't tell God what's in your heart, there's little or nothing He will do about it. Do you know why God asks us to pray? Because God does nothing without prayer. Even though He knows what we need and what is it helpful, God still gives us the chance of speaking to Him about our issues.

How to pray from your heart

Have mercy on me, O God,
because of your unfailing love.
Because of your great compassion,
blot out the stain of my sins.
2 Wash me clean from my guilt.
Purify me from my sin.
3 For I recognize my rebellion;
it haunts me day and night.
- Psalm 51:1-3 (NLT)

David had done something wrong to God. He had sex with a woman that wasn't his wife and caused the death of her husband. How could God ever forgive David? Do you know why God forgave David? Because David prayed from His heart. David acknowledged his sin.

The bible says, "Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night." A lot of our issues are issues of the heart. When people hurt us, it doesn't affect our body. It doesn't affect our eyes nor does it affect our ears. Hurt. Pain. Rejection. Fear. All sorts of insecurities affect our hearts. David couldn't live with the guilt any longer. He had to speak to His Father. We should learn to tell God everything and especially the negative things. If we have negative thoughts and negative feelings, they don't go away instantaneously. That's why God says, "Pray about everything."

Renew my heart

God, please make my heart new and clean. And make my spirit strong and true, deep inside me. - Psalm 51:10(EASY)

Many things expose our hearts to the impurities that lie in the world. When somebody rejects you, it's hard to believe that there's people that can accept you for who you are. Sometimes even receiving the love of Jesus can be hard. But's God's love is the most reassuring thing to ever receive. Pain changes our hearts. Pain makes us change our personality. I have friends who lost their relatives and became very different. But what most of us don't realize is that the enemy traps us into thinking we could never be freed from that. Why do you think Jesus came?

Jesus came to take away the burden

Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. - Mathew 11:28 (NLT)

Many times when we experience something harsh, the fastest response is to hide and run away from everything. When Adam and Eve sinned, the first thing they did when God approached them, was to hide. They became fearful of somebody they had enjoyed a good relationship with. In our pain, in our trouble, that's when we go to Jesus. We cannot fix ourselves. One of the greatest stories that I ever read in the bible is the story of the prodigal son. The power to return is a great power that takes courage and guts to have. Look, the prodigal son never thought about how he'd look before His Father. He just knew that His Father would be able to help Him. Jesus takes away all pain and all sorrow. Only Jesus. He came to carry the weight of our problems on His shoulders. Will you speak to Jesus today?

Jesus loves us in our present condition

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. - Romans 5:11 (NLT)

Jesus didn't wait for us to become better. In the present condition of our struggles and shame and humiliation, He left Heaven. While we were busy in sin, Jesus was dying on the cross for the sin that He didn't commit. How could somebody do that? How could He love us so much? Jesus is our go-to friend. He is our everything. Will you pray about everything? There's nothing that is too hard for God to handle. If Jesus could visit us in our condition of sinfulness and still love us, what could He not do? Absolutely nothing! Jesus can do everything!

Nothing is too hard for God

Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother's womb,[] so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things. - Ecclesiastes 11:5 (NLT)

Can you understand how a baby could live in a womb of another human for nine months? It's hard to explain. It's hard to comprehend. The bible says, "So you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things." Our prayers to God make Him move. He starts to create something as He listens to the one believer that won't give up on prayer. We don't have to understand God's ways, but we can trust that He hears our prayers and that He answers them in ways that He knows how. Will you trust God today?

Your prayer is incense to God

Then another angel with a gold incense burner came and stood at the altar. And a great amount of incense was given to him to mix with the prayers of God's people as an offering on the gold altar before the throne. 4 The smoke of the incense, mixed with the prayers of God's holy people, ascended up to God from the altar where the angel had poured them out. - Revelation 8:3-4 (NLT)

I love this! Our prayers are presented to God by angels. Can you believe that your prayer is mixed up with incense and poured out before God? The word of God cannot work when we doubt. The word of God only works to the one who has faith in it. The minute there is no faith, everything else becomes futile. But notice that prayers were offered up to God. This means, for prayers to be offered up to God, we would have to pray. Do you have a bowl filled up with prayers that go to your Heavenly Father everyday? Even if you have friends or relatives that have given you all the reasons to give up on prayer, don't give up.  I first read this scripture 2 years ago, it changed my life. Life is only governed by our prayers. Without prayer, our lives are governed by chance and happenstance. When you pray, you direct your life to the hands of God. God cannot impose His will on us, we have to ask that it happens. Jesus had to pray for the will of God to occur in His life. If Jesus had to pray about God's will, how could we not pray? Prayer governs our lives. Without prayer, something else governs it.

Note: Hey Readers. Thank you so much for reading. May God bless you. Shalom.
