Dancing Stars and Hearts [Ootori Itsuki]
"Ootori-san, please come this way." The white-haired male followed an employee back into a room. He was going to audition for a prestigious media company; however, he wasn't sure if this was ideal for him.
The owner of the company had wanted him to audition. He wanted to see if Ootori would be able to compete with the other outstanding debut artists. "I'm sure you'll land yourself a solo debut, right?" Those were the exact words of the CEO.
"You can practice in here for thirty minutes while we review the last auditionee." Ootori thanked the man who brought him in. He sighed and undid his hair, retying it tighter, ensuring that it would not budge during auditions.
"Auditions are a hassle, but it's not like I'm going to America..." He faced his reflection in the large dance mirror. He focused all of his energy into the center of his body. When he did this, his body felt light-weight; he could do anything.
The routine for the audition was a jazz and hip-hop collaboration. It took Ootori a few days to learn, but he was able to perfect it the way it was supposed to be. He also had to sing a song that was performed at a major singing convention.
He had been practicing for ten minutes or so when the door swung open. "Is it time for me to go back?" he asked, not bothering to look at who was there.
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to disturb you..." The voice was different from the man before. It was a sweet, feminine voice that seemed to draw him in.
"Oh? It's okay. I was just about finished. Did they send you here, too?"
The girl shook her head. "No! Actually, I was just passing by, and I was captivated by your dancing. I'm sorry." She was about to turn and leave, but Ootori approached her.
"It's all right. In fact, I could teach you a few other dances I've learned throughout my lifetime. Would you like me to show you, Miss?"
"I'm not too sure... My father wouldn't like it if I were out too long. I only was supposed to buy drinks and go straight back to him."
Ootori placed his hand in front of her. "I think it would be fine if you just accompanied me for a while."
[Name] took his hand shyly. "Thank you... But, I'm not the best dancer."
Ootori chuckled. "You don't have to be the best dancer to dance with me. I'll teach you the waltz. It's not too complex, and it has a rhythmic pattern."
He pulled [Name] closer to him, placing a hand around her waist. "Follow my lead, and you'll do great."
They twirled around slowly, so that [Name] would get used to the dance. [Name] hesitated and accidentally stepped on Ootori's foot.
"I'm sorry. I'm just very clumsy." As she said this, she bumped her head into his chest.
Ootori smiled and patted [Name] on her head. "It's all right. I'm here to help you as a dance partner, am I not?"
They were waltzing for a few minutes before the gentleman came again to pick Ootori up.
"Oh, Miss [Name]. You're in here? Your father was looking for you."
[Name] blushed. "Of course! I'll be on my way then."
Ootori smiled when he saw [Name]'s eyes sparkle a little. It was a sort of affectionate twinkle that made him feel warm.
After auditions, Ootori was sent in a waiting room for his results. When he was called back to the panel of judges, he noticed that [Name] was sitting on one end of the table.
"Ootori-san," the CEO said. "You've surpassed a good amount of other people that we've decided to let you go to America and work with our branch company. You have phenomenal dancing skills and singing techniques that we would like you to broadcast to the world and represent us."
Ootori shook his head. "No, I would like to refuse the offer to go overseas. I would prefer to stay in Japan. I mean, I do have a passion for teaching others how to dance." He looked over at [Name], who shied away from his glance. "Is that all right with you?"
The CEO coughed a little before replying. "Stay in Japan? A majority of artists here would like an opportunity like this. Are you sure you would like that? To refuse an offer like this?"
Ootori nodded. "Yes, I would. I have been dancing with Miss [Name] over there, and I seemed to have found my passion for the few moments we had together."
"Daughter? Is that why you've been out for so long?" The CEO leaned over the table to see his daughter and her guilty face.
"Yes, it's true. I was dancing with Ootori-san for a little bit, but I did come back!"
Ootori, who did not know that [Name] was the daughter of the CEO, chuckled to himself. 'Sir, I may have declined the overseas debut, but may I ask for something else?"
"I suppose so. What is it that I may give to you?"
He walked towards [Name] and grabbed her hand, lacing his fingers with hers. "Is it all right with you if I take her heart as mine?"
[Name] turned red, and she tried to hide herself in this limelight moment. It was all too embarrassing.
The CEO rubbed his chin. "If her heart says yes, then I will allow you to take her heart as well. What do you say, [Name]?"
Her face had turned into a deep shade of red. "Ootori is quite handsome, so I'd be an idiot if my heart wasn't for him..."
The panel of judges laughed at [Name]'s innocence. The CEO stood up and walked over to [Name] and Ootori, wrapping his arms around his daughter and shaking hands with the man who had her heart.
Ootori looked into [Name]'s eyes. "I can't wait to dance with you once more."
