23. The Calm Before The Storm
"Mister, don't run into their trap that easily. Let master handle them... Ahh, not soo fast I will fall off" a small body clung onto the vampire king.
"I don't care. I will break out with my strength and slaughter them swiftly if they attempt to stand in my way." he declared, not stopping his feet from moving. "Still I wonder, you gave up rather quick for someone who seemed soo full of herself Cat." he eyed the little animal on his shoulder.
Her eyes went wide "I..I am not a fighting type of summoning like that damn mutt! I am of a high class of ancient feline followers. My strengths lie in supporting, not actually fighting. So, of course, I couldn't win against an old vampire like yourself and since you didn't back away after I threatened you I had to give up..." she pouted.
"Hm, I see." he didn't face her anymore.
"You didn't understand anything, have you?" she sighed, letting her soft ears sink down.
"I may be quite versed in different kinds of areas but magic is something fairly unfamiliar to me," he explained.
"You vampires are remarkably strange beings. You have an eternity to live and yet you don't do anything with it." he didn't respond, he didn't want to. It was nothing but the truth and he couldn't deny it. Maybe that was the reason he took an interest in Rose to begin with. She was something new, something exciting, something that brought light into his endless night. Even if he didn't know many things about her yet, he wouldn't let her go away that easily.
"I am quite insane... Rigr would laugh himself to death if he would see me now..." he whispered to himself.
"Huh?"
"Nothing."
-
"Sir, what happened? Weren't you going to interrogate the prisoner?" a soldier asked confused, feeling the strange atmosphere emitting from his supervisor. "Tell everyone that they are not allowed near her." he evaded the question.
"Sir?"
"That girl is... she is... a true monster. We caught something far from a simple magician..." he marched off quick on his feet.
-
{Damn these chains...they feel like the ones Ferid gave Urd...but they are not sucking my blood...they are draining my magic...} she tried to figure out a way to break free. {This is not good. I feel like I am going to lo...} [-Master?-] Roses eyes went wide [-Master can you hear me?-] she recognized the voice immediately {Telepathy? I didn't know you were capable of it from such a distance.} Rose stopped her attempts to escape and sat down. [I am soo delighted that you are alright Master! I can't locate your presence. Do you know where you are?] her small follower asked.
{Locate me?}
[Ughh... ah... I mean]
{So, you couldn't stop him?}
[Thats...]
{Alright, let's stop right there. I considered the possibility that you might not fool him. So let him come and observe him but try to navigate him to another direction. I have enough magic left to send you my whereabouts, go the other way. I will try to join you as soon as I can.} she ordered.
-
[Yes master!]
"Why are you so quiet all of the sudden Cat" Urd slightly faced her way.
"Its nothing mister vampire. I am just exhausted that's everything," she replied promptly as she closed her eyes.
"Hn? Actually, it not a good time for taking a nap now. Not that I want to judge you since you are a cat but your master is in a rather bad situation, isn't she?" he said almost mocking which made her extend her claws.
"You stupid vampire, it is not that I want to sleep! Do you think I am a house cat? In general, I don't have much magic left if I am separated from the master for too long. Even though I may not be a fighting type but with bloo...power I could even fight you (probably...) so don't go and act like you are something better!" she finished loudly. He didn't reply immediately. He just made a face like he was thinking hard about what she had said, which made her feel like the winner of the argument.
"...so you are triggered if someone treats you like a normal cat?" he concluded silently as her fur slowly rose up.
"You are really a good for nothing vampire... I should not discuss with you further... ah...!" she mumbled as the ground started to vibrate strongly.
"What is happening?" he asked.
"I don't know... but this is apparently masters doing... strange it almost feels like... " she began.
"What?"
"Anger."
Some secrets are kept in the deepest part of the soul.
