“Dad…Dad…” My voice horribly cracked.

Mom opened her eyes and looked at me and when she realized I was blinking she jumped up to her feet,
screaming with joy.

"My baby!”

Daddy and Tommy were startled.

“She’s awake! She’s awake!”

Mama pushed Dad out of the way and she threw her frail body on mine, showering my face with tears and kisses.

Tommy hugged Daddy and they pat each other’s back.

“What happened to me?” I asked Mom. I could not remember anything.

She was studying me. “You were almost raped.”

I was quiet. “Raped?” I grew pensive, tears forming in my eyes. “Somebody raped me?”

Tommy took my hand. “No. Your Dad and I got there in a knick of time.”

“Daddy!” I called out for him. A few nurses rushed into the room and a doctor, holding a clipboard was behind them.

Dad hugged me..

I wouldn’t let him go.
