40; #AAforever.
Sorry this came in late. Musa Tela did me hege with my aseobi and I had to do him hege too. No be me he'll hembaras.
Our Kamu card is out too. We refused to release it earlier in case we'll have uninvited guests making a copy and crashing our event.
5K+ words yet again. You owe me comments here too and I hope you brought your dancing shoes because we wee dance tonight.
THE KAMU was set to start by 7pm.
However, as per Africa's sacred tradition, it didn't start until quarter past 8pm. By then, guests have already arrived and were allowed in the hall, strictly, based on invitation. The family rented the biggest hall in Afficent, and even then, it was nearly filled to the brim. Honestly, neither Aisha nor Aslam expected their families to be that big.
Some people from the hospital were there too, and that included the CS members as well-those that could make it out of their busy schedules that is.
Everyone was welcomed though. There was enough space, food, and positive vibes for everyone to enjoy the night. After all, a lot have been anticipating it since there hasn't been any clear information about the Dinner-by the looks of it, it won't take place in Kano and if that's the case, half the people present for the Kamu wouldn't be able to make it.
A venue isn't given to begin with-albeit, there's complete certainty the event will take place. It's simply clear that not everyone is invited. The Abd Al-Rasheed family only wanted close families to be there for the sake of the newlyweds. After being involved with so many people for the wedding, it'll be nice to have less people with little negative feeling compared to that of the big crowd.
The sound of Algaita by Morell filled the hall when the bride arrived with her entourage.
"Gimbiya sarautar mata. Naki ba irin nasu bane. Kallabi tsakanin rauna. Shakuwa kin tsaya ma mata zuci. In gaida mai fari har zuci. Zinariya idon y'an mata. Single baki wa kazami kywau. Rana batason qazamin dibi. Kasar madina bakida dau'da. Bikin nakune na I'ya'yan gata. An buga da ke anbarki. Nace su barka sai ta Allah tayi. Mahassadan ki fadawan ki. Yazasuyi da ikon Allah..."
Her close friends stood closely behind her, and while she had her head down, they swayed slightly to the beat. Flashes came from all angles as everyone wanted to get their first look of the bride. The videographers stood in front of them, slowly moving backwards so as to not obstruct the way for the bride.
On the way, a few elderly women from her side of the family, whom she is close to came forth and embraced her, wiping their tears. They moved out of the way though after a couple of hugs, so as to not disrupt them. This continued till they reached the podium where she was helped by her friends to it.
Soon enough, Sangaya cover by Namenj blared through the speakers, which was tuned down slightly as the groom's side negotiated with the bride's side on a price before seeing the bride's face. Aishatu had her head down, covered with a veiled as she heard the negotiations between them move back and forth. Despite the conversation being between the rich aunties on both sides, she could still pick up Jannah's voice as she persuaded her aunts into setting the price up high. According to her, there's no way they'll see the bride that easily.
"Zamu bada miliyan daya" Spoke a woman from the Abd Al-Rasheed side. Aisha doesn't know of the women's exact relationship with Aslam. They could be his aunts from his mother's side, or his extended father's family. Give, his father doesn't have any female siblings-but he does have cousins that stepped up to play the rich aunties role.
"Gakiya miliyan daya yayi kadan" Retorted one of Aisha's aunts. Aisha could recognize her voice as Mommy's sister, and definitely one of her favorite rich aunties. She loved that woman because of her care-free attitude. She's the one Jannah has been persuading into setting the price high simply because she knows the woman can do it.
If she decides on a price, she won't cave in till she's given that price. She even stood protectively in front of Aisha, shielding her away from her in-law's. She had decided they won't get even a glimpse of her till they settle and pay.
"Baza'a mana ragi ba?" Another woman from the groom's side asked, making them laugh. Deciding on a price seemed to be a struggle. However, they all had smiles on their faces because the aunts that were picked for the negotiations were genuinely happy and cared about the newlyweds. No harsh feelings whatsoever.
"Aa. Our bride is expensive gaskiya"
"Okay then. We'll give you five thousand--"
"Five thousand? Haba kukuwa? You're kidding, right?"
"-Dollars"
"Um, excuse me, what?" Jannah blinked, slowly sliding behind the aunt standing in front of Aisha to settle beside her so she can whisper in her ears. "Keh! Five thousand dollars is about two-million-naira fa!" She whispered excitedly, as if she'll be the one handed the money. She was finding it hard to reign her happiness though, especially now that money talk is involved.
Who doesn't love money?
"Deal" The aunts agreed without further bargain. They've been on it for a while and truth be told, they only demanded 1.5 million. Being given about 2 million though seems fair, and more than enough so they'll take it with no further bargain.
"Ladies and gentlemen you've heard it, right? Three groom's family have decided to pay the unveiling price not in Naira, but in dollars! Kai, hamma if you get money, you fit henjoy in life o!" Exclaimed the MC, making the audience crack up slightly. The Yoruba man had been cracking jokes along with the female, Hausa, MC that have been invited. They simply rotate in between him, and her. Both being able to handle the crowd quite well. "Ah ah! Amarya it's like I'll come so we can share this money o" He added, taking off his cap as he used it to fan himself despite the air conditioners, keeping the place well ventilated. "Money sweet die"
The song then changed at the moment to Dama by Namej yet again-the DJ in particular seems to love that particular singer and the guests of course had no problem with it, and that included the MC that decided to mime it.
"Dama da ke nafara haduwa, da nayi haure tun tuni...ah, amarya, I don't mean you o. I don't want your husband coming after me" The man laughed, along with the others that got his joke. Most found his pronunciation to be more comical, because it's obvious his accent is making it come out weirdly.
Once they've sealed the deal, the aunts from the bride's side stepped aside, giving room for the groom's aunts to move forth and unveil the bride. Aisha had her head down as she felt the veil being lifted off her head, and then a hand went under her chin, gently lifting her head up. She did so shyly, her eyes still downcast. The flashes that reached her were blinding, and all she could do was keep her eyes down and smile-or more like grin.
"Fa tabarak Allahu ahsanul khaliqeen. Masha Allah, our bride is really beautiful" Stated one of the aunt's earnestly, as she leaned down and pulled the girl in for a warm embrace. "Welcome to the family, Aisha" She muttered, patting the girl's back lightly.
Choruses of agreement regarding the beautiful bride came from the women, all featuring grins as they prayed and complimented the bride.
"Gaskiya Aslam ya samo mata, a beautiful one indeed. Masha Allahu"
"No wonder he has been disturbing everyone about his wife. Who wouldn't, when you have a woman as beautiful as her?"
"The newest addition to our family is a gem, isn't she?"
"Welcome to the family, Indo. I'm going to be that aunt that teases you all the time"
"Matar Aslam, amaryar mu, Allah baku zaman lafiya da zuri'a dayyiba"
Aisha's cheeks were coated with blush as she kept her gaze down. The flashes from people's phone, and that of the photographers were blinding. She felt like she had to hold up a good look, else she'll end up looking bad in one of the pictures.
But it was so hard to hold up the smile. Her cheeks hurt! And the night has only begun.
Ya Rahman!
And of course, the MC was at it too. "Soyyaya na da dai, lobayya na da di, amma da Ango yafi dadi...Us single people I have a feeling we'll be oppressed today o. But all is well. We'll eat and dance. That's enough"
Chorus of agreement came from the crowd, especially the crowd of ladies on one side. Most of their eyes were fixated on the high table on the right side though, where the groom's friends were sitting all rocking their cream colored babbar riga. They were definitely the type of friends certain bridesmaids hope to end up with because who wouldn't want handsome men, looking resplendent and obviously, well off.
They were definitely some of the elite arewa men. Lucky are the women who take the good ones off the market because some are simply rotten apples.
Nonetheless, they were definitely a sight for sore eyes. And they knew it, because some of them had their heads held up high; cracking jokes amongst themselves, and snapping pictures on their latest IPhones. A few of them were exchanging looks with certain bridesmaids that caught their attention. Safe to say, some might just end up becoming couples by the end of the wedding too.
Not long later, the groom's arrival was announced and of course, to welcome the man of the hour, the song was switched up to Wait by Teni-a choice that some might find odd, but the song is undeniably sentimental in a way. The attention then divided, mostly now focused on the groom that a lot had been waiting for. Those that weren't able to see him from their positions caught a glimpse of him from either of the screens on either side of the hall, giving a close up of him and his entourage.
He didn't make an appearance with his friends-considering they are there already but with his grandmother from his mother's side on one hand, and Mami on the other. They were a few elderly women from his family, and Yazid who tagged in against everyone's wishes simply to annoy Aslam for the fun of it.
In no time, they reached where his bride was waiting for him. Aisha had caught glimpses of him, since she can't blatantly stare with the people still crowding over her. When he reached there, it was his grandmother that first offered Aisha a warm smile and then pulled her into an embrace, showering her with praises and blessings.
After her was Mami, whom albeit still bitter about the wedding, masked it off and offered Aisha a genuine smile and she side hugged her. She muttered a compliment, as she patted the girl's shoulder just in time the photographers went wild, wanting to capture every beautiful moment.
When the women had enough, they decided to allow the groom to sit beside his bride. Internally, that was all Aslam was hoping for. He had already pleaded countless times in his head for them to disappear because it appears, the minute one person is done hugging her, another jumps in-not giving him the slightest chance to even meet her eyes!
Finally, as they allowed him to take his spot beside her, his cologne instantly greeted her. Because of all the compliments, and his presence, she had brought her head down yet again. To say she was shy would be an understatement, and did she mention that her cheeks were hurting because of the smiles? It truly was!
How are other brides able to do this whole smiling thing.
Aslam leaned down to whisper in her ears, "Hello, Mrs. Aslam" He had a wide grin masking his features as if he had won the lottery. He couldn't help it. The immense happiness he felt seeing her was immeasurable. Not to mention she looks absolutely stunning!
Oh God. He couldn't wait for the next day to come so the knot will be tied and she will be his halal. How beautiful would that be? To be able to call her Mrs. Aslam truly.
Aisha could swear there truly was an acrobatic show in her tummy, because of the way it flipped when he spoke. She was already having hard time calming her racing heart due to his presence and that cologne...Ya Rahman have mercy on her soul.
She slowly turned her head aside, raising it slightly to look into his eyes as she offered him a smile. "Well, hello there" She whispered back, blinking. The action has the fake lashes her makeup artist insisted on adding-because apparently it made her look more beautiful-frame the spot underneath her eyes as she flickered them close.
And what was going on around them? A round of 'awws' echoed as the cameras went like crazy. Apparently, they looked so picturesque looking at each other like that. There's no denying those two look so good together.
If possible, Aslam's grin widened. "You look absolutely breathtaking, ma shaa Allah" He sighed, "I'm trying so hard not to faint" He still remembers what she told him the day before. How could he forget?
She hummed, fighting her blush. "Really?" She couldn't keep it in though. Who could? "You don't look bad yourself"
"It's okay to say I look ravishing, darling. It's only for you anyway" Just when she thought she heard enough from him, he starts with a new endearment.
Did she like it? Yes. Definitely.
She then narrowed her eyes playfully, "Yes, you look good. But, you're a bit cocky about it I see"
"Only for you, Mrs. Aslam. Only for you"
It seemed as though that was the moment the wedding kicked in fully. After one long picture session with the couples, everyone was asked to go back to their position as then they would start the main event now that both bride and groom are present. A short, but funny speech from both MC's later, one of the groom's aunts was invited to pray and offer a word of advice to the newlyweds.
Aisha didn't recognize the woman, considering almost everyone if not the immediate members of the Abd Al-Rasheed family are strangers to her. Aslam came to the rescue though, and told her the woman is his mother's sister. Judging from the way he said it, Aisha could tell the he and the woman gets along well.
After she prayed for the newlyweds, she started her long string of advice that was honesty heartwarming. "...Aslam, I and everyone else in our family know that you are a good, and responsible young man. We are beyond proud of the man you've become and at the same time, we are elated to have an addition in our family in the form of Aisha, your wife. We are all witnesses of how good your father has been to your mother, both of them, and we will trust you will be the same. Aslam, Aisha is an amana to you. Marriage life is not the same as the relationship you two had before tying the knot. She's your wife, mata ce a gareka yanxu, and you are to treat her with utmost respect and love. Aisha is now our daughter, and a part of our family too so we would not lament any form of misconduct from you towards her. However, like I said, we trust and believe you to continue being the honest, and responsible man we know. Allah baku zaman lafiya, da kuma zuri'a dayyiba"
A chorus of ameen came from different angles in the hall.
She continued, "Kukuma abokan ango" She turned to the table where they are all seated, "And of course, the unmarried men here that are of age, look around; shine your eyes fa. You see, we have a lot of beautiful, and upright ladies here. Duk wannan kwalliyan some of them did it for you. Don haka, make sure before the day ends that you'd pick one that catches your attention saboda kuma muna so muga bikin ku. Yawwa. Bamu so kuyita zama mana a gida. The married men are exempted, saboda I don't want you to have issues with your wives. Yawwa, I've said my own"
A while later, the event was in full swing with the newlyweds on the dance floor along with the bride's family. The rich aunties basically owned the whole event and the dance floor as Buga by Kizz Daniel ft. Tekno blared through the speakers. Aside from them, the videographers and friends surrounded them, wanting to capture every moment. The aunts did not relent in spraying thousand naira notes, and some, with dollars.
This of course, did not go unnoticed by some people that fully intended on stealing a couple of notes from the dance floor.
But did anyone care? No. They were too busy shouting Buga at the top of their lungs. More than half of the people in the hall were. It was as if, all the ill feelings some had towards her were kept aside to fully enjoy the moment. Besides, some of them are from Mommy's side, so they showed their by embracing their daughter, and swinging to the sides with her. And of course, the groom was included in the fun.
Lemme see you...
"GO LOW LOW LOW" The voices of them all collectively was higher than that of the speaker. Yes, they were that loud.
Buga won,
"Lemme buga won!"
Lemme see you dey buga
"GBERA! OH AI"
Gbera o
Gbera
"GO GET THE DOLLAR"
Wake up. Go baller, kala gbowo yen o
"KALA GBOWO YEN LOWO DEALER"
You don work, you don try
"YOU SUPPOSE DEY HIGH!"
Even those that were in their seats, munching on the small chops handed out or the food that was handed in each table, one after to their hearts content still piqued in at one point or another. That song seemed to ginger everyone, and they sure showed it.
When they were done, the groom's mother was invited along with the aunts on his side. That was when it was announced that they have another guest that was invited specially for a performance and was none other than the infamous Ali Jita.
That gained the young ladies attention the most, because most of them are sucker for his songs. So, to have him perform live at a wedding they're at...who would miss the opportunity to take a close up of it. Just as they knew the lyrics of Buga, most of them knew the lyrics of his new song, Aure Yana da Dadi which he decided to kick off the event with. Afterwards, he sang the widely known, Love that the ninety percent of the young ladies knew.
They were basically the ones singing and not the man, because their voices were more than his.
"...Hajiya ki ganta, itace sarauniya ta. Aii, gimbiya ta..."
Dandano na zuciyata
"Wanna show her to the world. Tell everyone of our love, our love is here to stay"
This love will never die.
"DUBA RANA DA WATA SUNA DA HASKE"
The song didn't reach the end before they switched it to Arewa Angel. Some were upset, because they wanted to sing the song throughout but nonetheless, they moved on pretty quick.
Anbani ke, kinga anbani keh
"Me atampha yarinya sannu kyakyawa"
And hence, went another singing and dancing session that ended with one last song-Indo as per Jannah's request. She said there's no way, Ali Jita will attend Aisha's wedding and she'll not dance to 'Masoyiyata indo...' Her words, no one else.
With that round over, the friends of course had the floor all to themselves. By then, the bride and groom were definitely enjoying the event, because it all smiles and vibes. But to be very honest, the groomsmen, and the bridesmaid owned the floor that night as they started their session with Peace Be Upon You by Asake.
Emiliano rora
"KOSHAMA RORA!"
Iwon nikan ni corner. Mi o de e mo tola
"COS YOU DEY PARA PASS YOUR MOTHER! BARA BARKA DE SALLAH"
Ilefo chameleon. Mo ti gbewpn debe
After that, was Overloading which of course, they knew the lyrics as well. They didn't reach the end though before it was changed to Sungba Remix with Burna Boy. At the moment, it was obvious even the DJ loves Asake because he had been playing the man's songs. Most preffered Burna boy's part though, because that was when they sang the loudest.
"TELL ME WHAT YOU SEE, WHEN YOU LOOK AT ME?"
Sun gbala ja ko ma ju badi
"MY PROBLEM IS I TOO SABI OH"
Pop molly for the pool party o
"AGATA OYA DAPADA"
Pepper jor,
Shey you dey whine me ni...
Even after dancing to three songs, they didn't have enough. By then, more people have joined the dance floor, not wanting to miss the vibes there. The song was then changed to Baajo by Kwesi Arthur ft. Joeboy. Flashes from the camera came, money was flying in the air, and of course, grins adorned the faces.
Baby don't you leave me don't go
Ma sare, Ma lo
"MA SALO, OH NO. I NO GO DELAY JOOR MA FO"
Only you dey I no get back up, when I wake up in the morning na you I dey first call
"AND I DON'T REALLY WANNA BREAK UP"
I want to make you my last bus stop. Oh na na...
The night was long, for it went on and on. At one point, they had to dance to Warr by Ado Gwanja too for the fun of it. But bottom line, by the end of the night, people had their stomach filled with food, a lot danced to their heart's content, and some found their potential partners.
~*~
"Yau Musa Tela yamun iskanci wallahi" Jannah hissed, as she settled on a spot beside Aisha on her bed. She had been complaining the entire night because she was so close to not getting her regalia for the Kamu event, which finally ended about two hours ago by sometime around 11:30 pm.
Safe to say, they were all exhausted after all the dancing and whatnot. Even the bride is sprawled on her bed, not having any strength to move around. Since she came back, took a shower and prayed; she laid on the bed and hasn't moved much from there. She only moved once to eat when Jannah brought her food because unlike the others, she didn't really have much to eat during the event.
How could she when she has countless cameras on her, snapping from every angle. Her phone has been blowing up with notifications since she turned on the data, and truth be told, she's even scared of checking it. Which is why she had discarded the phone somewhere on the bed and hasn't bothered to reach out for it again.
"You should thank God at least kun samu kayan ai" Said Rukayya from the vanity table. She had been slacking off since. It was then she's taking off her makeup. It's just three of them in the room, since the others have taken the other rooms and mostly are out cold.
Considering it's nearly 2am, the three wanted nothing more than to sleep off too. However, in between scrolling through social media, taking off their outfits, having something to put in their system and talking about what happened, they haven't realized the time had passed.
Jannah hissed again, "Yasmine and I had to go to his shop and force him to finish it fa!" The only thing that made the situation slightly is the fact that she wasn't alone on this. She, and Yasmine-Aslam's sister gave their aseobi to the same tailor and the man decided to do them what tailors know how to do best.
They nearly had to wear the aseobi as lafayya because the man wasn't done with their outfits.
They packed their stuff and went to his shop early in the morning, and had to force him to finish it off. Even then, they didn't get the style they want, which equals a very furious Jannah that is still not over it.
"You're lucky the Kamu outfit is the only one with him" Aisha mumbled from where she's. Her eyes were dropping, and she's slowly slipping in and out of sleep. She's sure she would've fallen asleep earlier if it wasn't that she's trying to keep up with the ongoing conversation.
But it's proving to be a struggle.
"Allah ya temake ba" Jannah lamented, shaking her head as she continued to scroll through her Instagram feed. "#AAforever is trending. I've been seeing posts from various accounts" She wasn't surprised it happened because we're in a time where things trend father that you expected.
Especially weddings on social media.
Not to forget, the account Jannah created for the two already has nearly three thousand followers. It's obviously one of the best avenues for those other accounts to repost. And then of course, there's the guests that posted it all over social media.
"Nagani!" Rukayya exclaimed, after successfully wiping the makeup off her face. "No wonder Aisha's phone is blowing up"
Aisha hummed. It's also the reason she had long turned off the phone. She can't deal with all that this late at night. No way.
"Naga Hakeem Sunusi came too" Jannah commented, tapping the like button on a picture of his that was uploaded on some page. She honestly has lost count of how many accounts she had seen post his picture too, as if they've never seen him before.
Yet again, Aisha hummed. "Aslam said they're friends, but I can't remember from where gaskiya" She remembered him telling her of his friends, but she honestly didn't bother to remember who is who and from where. She'll know them along the way, if she sees them that is.
"Omo that guy is finer in person. Anya kuwa he doesn't bath with milk?" Rukayya asked, genuinely curious because she had been admiring that man since she saw him at the event earlier. But it wasn't just there, there are countless women that had their eyes on him and almost all of them took pictures of him from one angle at least.
Jannah chuckled because of Rukayya's words, "Why didn't you ask him?" She looked up from her phone, raising brow slightly.
"Tab!" Rukayya scoffed, "Mazan nan basuda kirki. I don't want someone's son to do me hege like this"
"Gaskiya kam. You never know" Jannah agreed. That's why she had never been the one to speak to people she doesn't know-especially men because you never know how they'll treat you. "But, he's still fine" She shrugged.
Aisha rose her head up, flickering her eyes open as she focused her gaze on Jannah. "Finer than Abdallah?"
Jannah shook her head, clicking her tongue. "I'm not answering that" There's no way she will answer and get herself in whatever plan Aisha has. "But he looked good too" She saw him at the Kamu-amongst the groom's friends which lead to her asking the same question Aisha did the day before.
Since when did Abdallah and Aslam become friends?
Nonetheless, she hadn't really gotten the chance to speak to him considering she was too busy helping Aisha with whatever she needs and having fun on the dance floor. What she didn't know though is the fact that he saw her. How could he not when she looked so beautiful? It was the first time he saw her with makeup, and truth be told, it looked so good on her. If he knew the woman that did the makeup for her, he would've paid the woman more because Ya ilahi!
Is it possible to fall for someone over and over again?
Because if it is, then Abdallah fell for her then again, and again.
Aisha chuckled lightly, as she rested her head on the pillow again. She knew the girl only has eyes for Abdallah but whatever, she'll sit back and watch the show unfold. She doesn't know why, but her guts tell her the two will end up together one way or another.
"Ni kuwa is the dinner cards out?" Rukayya asked the same question she has been asked numerous times. Considering how the Kamu turned out, a lot are anticipating the dinner more-most for the fun and the gossip. They want to be able to go around telling people they attended one of the most elite wedding of the year.
"There will no cards" Jannah shook her head.
"I honestly don't even know a thing about the dinner" Aisha mumbled tiredly. Jannah is the one who knows about it, and she hadn't told her a thing claiming it's a surprise. She hadn't asked afterwards, even though not knowing was killing her. She had her guesses though, which is the only thing that kept her from going nuts.
Even Aslam wouldn't tell her. So, she gave up.
"No cards?" Rukayya asked, her brows drawn in. "What do you mean?"
"Don't worry about it. You'll know tomorrow" Jannah waved it off. She has no plans on telling them until later.
Rukayya parted her lips to say something, but instead decided against it. She then stood up, and headed to the en-suite claiming she needs a shower else she can't sleep. Now, considering it's just the two of them left, Jannah placed her phone aside after plugging it to charge. She then turned to Aisha, moving to take the spot beside her. "How does it feel to know you're getting married tomorrow...well, today?"
Aisha chuckled lightly, her eyes still closed. She was so close to dozing off. At that point, she's sure she would slip off amidst their small conversations. "I don't know" She mumbled. "It hasn't kicked in yet" She would probably feel the panic, happiness, whatsoever once it actually reigns on her that she will be married.
But for now, she feels sleepy. That's all.
Jannah nodded slowly, "Well, I can't wait for tomorrow" She said after a while. Seconds later, she still hadn't gotten a reply so she turned around only to realize Aisha had truly dozed off. She smiled softly, pulling the duvet to cover them both before she rested her head on the other pillow. "Good night, Amarya. We have a long day tomorrow" She mumbled, and then said her prayers before dozing off.

I don enjoy that Kamu o, because I felt like I was there.
I still haven't danced enough. I'll save the rest for the dinner because...oshey!
I had to cut this chapter short (technically, it's twice the length of our normal chapters) because then it would've been really long and I'm so tired!
Hope you enjoyed it as much as I do. And yes, you owe me comments for this too because then I'll feel motivated to write and give you another update soon. So, drop your comments!
Tomorrow is our daurin aure. Yes, our! You know Aslam is our groom, not just Aishatu's.
We have ten more chapters to go before the book ends. *Sighs* I'll miss you people. Oh and yeah, you'll get your answers soon enough.
Ah, now considering I've danced so much, nagaji. So, I'm going to rest now. Goodnight single people, the not single, and married ones. Hehe.
Love, Jannah.
