the demon took jaemin's phone to look at his reflexion in the glass before blushing.

"oh my..." he let out, allowing his hand to slide against his neck that was filled with purplish love bites.

"do i have some too?" jaemin asked. "is there a naughty insect in the car? are they serious? should i bring you to the hospital?"

donghyuck chuckled at jaemin's sudden stress.

"come with me." donghyuck said, pulling onto jaemin's hand so that the boy could follow him towards the edge of the cliff.

jaemin gulped when he looked down and realised how high this cliff was.

if him or donghyuck fell, they would die.

there may be a turquoise lake just under the cliff, the height would make them have a cardiac arrest before touching the water.

"this is what demons call the 'life diving board'." donghyuck said, looking down at the lake that seemed like a puddle of water from up there.

"why?" jaemin asked, taking a step back, fearing to fall.

"this is where the corpses of deceased demons are thrown." donghyuck explained.

"thrown? it's a cemetery?" jaemin frowned.

"no really." donghyuck chuckled. "it's where their new life begins..."

"i don't understand..." jaemin mumbled, intertwining his hand with donghyuck's as the demon stared blankly at the landscape.

"after a demon's death, the ones that love them throw the corpse in the 'life lake'... this lake reincarnates the demon and offers them a new life. either as a demon, an angel, or a human..."donghyuck said.

jaemin nodded, now understanding why the colour of this lake seemed so unreal.

because it was magical.

but there was something bothering the human.

why was donghyuck telling him about it?

why did donghyuck seem so distant? so lost?

"why did you show me this place?" jaemin asked in a low voice.

donghyuck looked at the human in the eye.

jaemin noticed tears falling down on his tanned cheeks.

"because i did lose someone i loved and cherish too... and i was the one to throw her there..."
