jaemin kicked some pebbles in the night as he was walking, his two hands stuffed into his jeans' pockets.
he felt lost and sick.
what had to happen actually happened.
the police found him.
he had been identified as NA, the serial killer.
he could remember the face of his classmates when his name was pronounced by the journalist and when his picture was shown.
he remembered their looks of disgust.
he remembered their frightened looks.
and most importantly, he remembered mina's confused face.
he knew perfectly that she didn't want to believe in that news.
she didn't want to think that the boy she had taken a liking for was actually the psychopathic killer that her father had been trying to look for.
but the facts were there.
jaemin was NA. and she couldn't do anything about it...
"jaemin!"
the human turned around when he heard his name being called, not expecting to get pulled violently in a bone-crusing hug.
"jaemin, i was so freaking worried..." donghyuck told, tightening his embrace to the point jaemin couldn't breathe. "i thought you had disappeared..."
"i was just... having a walk." the human replied.
donghyuck pulled out from the hug, cupping jaemin's cheeks with his palms and looking at the human in the eye.
"please, don't disappear again like that... i was so scared something happened to you..." donghyuck told.
"i'm sorry..." jaemin apologized.
"this place is dangerous for you, nana... you have to be careful..."
"what did you just call me?"
this answer wasn't supposed to sound mean, but the tone jamein used made donghyuck back up quickly.
"u-uh... sorry... it slipped." donghyuck told. "it won't happen aga- "
"no." jaemin cut him.
"huh?"
"call me that more."
in fact, jaemin's heart had skipped a bit at the nickname donghyuck had created for him.
it felt good not to be referred to as 'jaemin' or 'NA'.
it seemed like jaemin's life was limited to those two things.
his jaemin side, shy, reserved, hiding a big secret.
and his NA side, psychopathic, dangerous, and unpredictable.
but donghyuck made him feel different.
when he was with the demon, he didn't feel like 'jaemin'.
the truth is, he didn't feel like 'NA' either.
he was someone completely different.
someone he wanted donghyuck to refer as 'nana'.
"okay, nana." donghyuck replied with a heart whelming smile.
jaemin smiled back.
"let's go back to the car." donghyuck said, holding his hand out for jaemin to take it. "i prepared a bed for us to sleep."
"a bed?"
"come, i'll show you."
jaemin placed his hand in donghyuck's palm, allowing the warm fingers of the demon to intertwine with his.
donghyuck led him towards the car as jaemin walked slightly behind the demon, admiring the way their hands fitted together.
he felt genuinely happy having the demon with him at the moment.
they arrived to the car in a matter of minutes, jaemin letting out a small gasp at the scenery.
the boot of the car was opened, revealing a soft mattress and comfy blankets surrounded by fairy lights.
"h-how...?" jaemin asked, amazed by the beautiful setting.
"i may or may not have teleported and stole a few things, but it will be enough for us to have a good rest."
jaemin pulled onto donghyuck's hand – that he was still holding – and embraced the demon in a bear hug, surprising the supernatural being.
nevertheless, donghyuck wrapped his arms around jaemin too.
"thank you for everything, donghyuck." jaemin mumbled in the crook of his neck.
"wait."
donghyuck pushed jaemin away from the hug, cupping his cheeks once again to inspect his face.
"why are you crying?" he asked with worried eyes.
"i-i'm... h-happy..." jaemin said, half crying, half laughing.
donghyuck smiled, using his thumbs to wipe the tears away before dropping a chaste kiss onto the boy's forehead.
"i'm glad you're happy." he said. "i am the luckiest demon ever to have someone like you as my human..."

donghyuck and jaemin were now lying on the bed donghyuck had set, entangled unser the covers.
donghyuck had his arm under jaemin's body as the human had his arms wrapped around the demon's torso.
"and what about mina?" donghyuck asked.
they had been taking about everything they had left behind. everything jaemin had left behind.
donghyuck had wanted to ask about mina since long now.
he knew jaemin and her had something going on.
and he knew that everything had ended now.
partly because of him.
"i broke her..." jaemin replied, tightening his embrace around the demon's warm body.
donghyuck sighed as his hand entangled with jaemin's hair to caress the boy's scalp.
"i used to like her..." jaemin stated. "well... i think i never genuinely did. but the feelings i had for her were undeniable."
donghyuck listened to jaemin's speech in silence.
it hurt to hear the boy he had fallen for speaking about someone else.
a human. and a girl.
but what else could he do?
he was his demon.
he had to take care of him.
whether the boy was kind or mean with him.
"she didn't like me back at that time. and think she does now. well... she did. before knowing that i was a serial killer." jaemin continued.
"you know... being a serial killer or not... you're still the same boy she knows. she has no reason to stop liking you..." donghyuck told, looking at the human's angelic face.
"but i don't want her to like me..."
donghyuck froze at that sentence jaemin pronounced.
he didn't want mina to like him?
this made no sense if he had feelings for her.
"jaemin. you're hurting yourself by saying that..."
"i am not." jaemin replied. "i'm just... discarding myself of a problem i hope i wouldn't need to solve..."
"what problem?"
"rejecting her feelings..."
donghyuck frowned in confusion. "don't you have feelings for her?"
"i don't. they're all gone. as if they never existed in the first place."
donghyuck's heart skipped a beat at this sudden confession.
so, jaemin didn't like mina anymore?
could this mean that donghyuck had a chance?
"why...?" donghyuck asked in a hoarse voice, already anticipating the worst answer.
"i guess my heart found someone else. someone better..."
