"Ahm, how about Imagine Dragons?"
"Whitney Houston is the best, alright?"
"Bruh, Holy Emo Trinity. End of discussion."
"Carrie Underwood is the greatest ever, lads."
"Lol fuckers, Eminem is God."
"WTF YALL TALKING ABOUT METALLICA IS OUR LEADER WE METALHEADS ROCK YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHH"
Alright seriously, stop. Just stop.
No one can be superior to each other just because of their music taste.
Every musician is a pool of talent in themselves; we cannot judge them based on their genres. Yes, it's okay if you critique and review and compare the musicians of the same genre, but it's not okay when you compare musicians of different genres with each other. It's simply not fair!
For instance, since I'm VERY short, if you compare me n another smol bean in a basketball match, it will be very much fair. But comparing me and a very tall person (say Mark Hoppus/Austin Carlile/Andy Biersack or even Vic Fuentes in my case) in throwing the ball through the basket, it will be totally senseless and unjust.
Comparison in its first place won't be right but since the countdowns and music charts are to be made, they are fine. But just for that. Comparing, suppose, Slash and Iggy Azalea is nothing but absurd. Just because you like Slash but your friend likes Iggy, doesn't give you the right to compare people from totally different genres. And how are you going to compare them? Based on hits, fans, shows, followers on social media, style etc. etc.? No you cannot.
A pop musician is undoubtedly supposed to have a wider reach and being more known than a musician of a genre that only a select type of ppl would listen to, say emo. Hence, their fans would be more widespread. Style, well everyone has their one distinctive, personal preference and definitions of style. Social media, well not every artist has an account on these platforms, and even if they do, it's not necessary that they're active on it; this could definitely result in losing followers or having none at all. The more senior of an artist, more the shows. Slash has been performing for years and Iggy is new, so his show numbers are ofc gonna be higher.
I don't see the point in ppl fighting out that whose the best. Every artist is great in their own way. Personally, you might not like a particular artist/band/song, but that doesn't give you the right to go and insult and hate on them. And even if you do, please keep it yourself. There are better ways than to hate. Why don't you for once think from the point of view of the artist/their fan? You'll know how it feels. Or you could be polite about it. You don't like the latest song of blah blah singer? Put it out respectfully. Say "I personally didn't like the song..." and then give your reasons for it, they'll listen to you and prolly even understand. If you straight out start screaming and hurling profanities, no one's going to take your shit and eventually it'll lead to a fight.
Yes, Taylor Swift is amazing, tho personally I like country Taylor more, but still I like her. She's evolving, so the changes are inevitable. Doesn't mean I'll hate her or the Swifties.
One Direction. Do I even need to say anything? They've literally saved my life. You might call me a stupid, childish Directioner but I couldn't care less. This is who I am; a Directioner and I'm proud of myself for that.
Imagine Dragons are rad. Their music is gr9. I don't really listen to their work much but whatever I have, they're amazing.
Whitney Houston is simply a legend. Her voice can make you feel like you're in heaven. R.I.P.
Honestly, Holy Emo Trinity. End of discussion. MCR, P!ATD n FOB, what else do you need to know. We are going to hell but who cares? We have Nun Patrick who'll lead us to Devil Urie and we all together will go to the ghost of MCR.
Carrie Underwood's voice gives me the chills. She has such a great voice. I mean, she didn't become American Idol just like that. She's a powerhouse.
The song wasn't called Rap God just like that and it wasn't performed my Eminem worthlessly. Everything has a reason and that's the reason for it. Because it's Eminem. The ultimate rapper. The Rap God.
Metallica is one the greatest names not only in the metal scene but in the whole music industry.
I don't listen to everyone's music I listed here, but I know and respect the fact that all of them are artists, creators, inventors and of a different kind. And they are humans too. Plus they love their fans. Everyone does. Just the way they don't feel pleasant when they are hated, they also don't like it when their fans are insulted. Neither would your favourite acknowledge it if you hate on others. So if for not them, then at least for your favourite, don't shame others. Because let me remind you, when the fandom hates on others, it's not the fandom but the artist being primarily blamed.
"Blah blah artist's fans insulted blah blah."
Your favourite's name gets dragged in and defamed. Remember that.
And learn to love and accept people for who they are. You wouldn't like it when someone tries to change and shame you for who you are. Or your music taste. Because according to ourselves, our music taste is dank and dO NOT INSULT OUR MUSIC TASTE.
