He eyed his reflection in the mirror and Talia watched from her perch on the couch, dark eyes roaming over his back and then to the mirror in-front of him. She tucked her knees under her chin, watching him quietly as she considered her next words.
"Do you have something to say, Talia?" His voice was cold, eyes meeting hers in the mirror as he finished wiping the blood from his face. Klaus had just gotten rid of another body, another person he killed for food. It didn't bother her much anymore, but she still wondered about their lives. The people they could've become. She sighed and crossed her legs, chewing her lower lip and thinking.
Finally, he turned, fully facing her with a patient look. "Klaus . . ." Talia trailed off, studying his gaze as he easily settled down on the arm chair to her right and crossed his legs, picking up a book to flip through as she thought through her words. She watched him read, the ease in his shoulders as he flipped through the book as if it were any other day, any other time. "Klaus, I think you should undagger your siblings."
His head shot up, studying her for a moment before thinking it through and then nodding. "Rebekah will be glad to see you, I know she enjoyed your company." Klaus stood, placing the book back on the coffee table and walking to the door, pausing for Talia to follow. "Rebekah, wherever she may be, we will find. Come along, love, time to meet the family."

Talia followed a few paces behind Klaus, her eyes lifting to his back when he got a phone call and grew rigid, throwing open the container doors to reveal no coffins, none of Klaus's family. She paused in her step, watching him threaten whoever had called him and then shut off his phone, whirling to face Talia.
"Stefan Salvatore stole my family and I plan on killing him and anyone he's ever met." He grabbed her arm, wrenching her behind him as he zoomed back to the house, calling a hybrid to his attendance.

The brunette settled in to the small rental, Klaus was off threatening Damon and had told her to take the rest of the day to herself, he would be quite busy.
She stirred her tea with her pinky, staring at the wall for a moment before standing and walking to the book Klaus had been reading. It was a book of poetry, and he had bookmarked one page.
Soulmates
I spent my days waiting for you,
searching the crowds for your face.
I stopped breathing the moment you recognized me,
as you captured my soul with your face.
-Christy Ann Martine
The brunette flipped through the other pages, finding poems about heartbreak and love. It made no sense, why was he reading it? Why did it seem like after thirty years of nothing . . . he was beginning to care?
She closed the book gently and placed it back on his chair, deciding to go on a run. She pulled on her sneakers and sprinted through the yard and into the woods, her calves burned and her lungs felt like imploding but she kept running.
Talia finally came to a stop in the middle of nowhere, the sun was setting, it was dark and she had no idea where she was. Yet, the girl wasn't scared, mostly annoyed at herself for her stupidity. Pulling her straightened hair into a messy bun, she began wandering through the woods, searching for somewhere to duck down for the night and then she would head back to the house the next day. She didn't have her phone, and if she did it wouldn't be of use due to the lack of service, so she didn't bother trying to call Klaus. He wouldn't worry, he knew her.
The brunette Companion. finally found a cave that she climbed into, leaning against the wall at the entrance and not bothering to go any further in. Knowing Mystic Falls, there was probably a group of people that could turn into bears in there.
She closed her eyes, letting her tired body drift into sleep.

Klaus plunged the dagger back into Rebekah and then sped back to the rental, deciding he wanted to have a dinner with Talia. He opened the door of the house and walked in, looking around for her. She wasn't in the living room, kitchen, or her room.
The Hybrid stepped into the guest-room where Sarah, another of his hybrids, was sitting and reading. "Have you seen Talia?"
The blonde looked up and shook her head before turning back to her book. He growled and searched the bond for her, his thoughts showed him an image of a dark cave and some fallen trees.
The Mikaelson man sighed and decided that it was too late and too dark, and if she was in trouble she would warn him. If she wanted to go hangout in a cave overnight for whatever reason, that was her own choice. He wasn't in the mood to go tramping through the woods to find her.

By lunch the next day, Talia still hadn't returned and Klaus was beginning to grow wary. He eyed Tyler, ordering him to bite Caroline which only made the Lockwood wolf get angry and Klaus decided to twist his words and let the boy go, knowing quite well he would do as he asked.
He glanced at his phone, seeing the time and deciding to get dressed for the Founder's Ball. Hopefully, Talia would show up by dinner.

Talia groaned, she had been walking in circles for hours and kept ending up at the same cave. It was dark, again, and she didn't feel like walking into the cave when suddenly someone smacked her over the back of the head and she dropped.

The Companion awoke in the passenger seat of a black car, shaking her head trying to clear away the pained headache. She looked to the driver's seat, spotting Stefan who was driving way too fast, his eyes filled with certain insanity.
"Um, what the fuck?" The girl eyed the Salvatore who glanced at her and back to the road, ignoring her words. "What's the plan, Stefan? Killing Klaus's best friend? He won't care, he can get another one." Talia rolled her eyes, relaxing and watching the landscape zoom by.
He grinned, his teeth white under the light. "Or, maybe I'll turn you into a vampire."
Talia shrieked, slapping his shoulder due to the fact she was very aware she couldn't turn into a vampire, it would be a painful death. "Stop the car, Salvatore! Stop the fucking car!"
Stefan dialed Klaus, watching as Talia attempted to open the door but it was locked.
"Tell your hybrids to get out of town, Klaus," Stefan spoke into the phone, pushing down on the gas pedal.
There was silence as Klaus replied and then Stefan spoke again. "Fine, I'll drive your best friend off Wickery Bridge."
More silence as Klaus spoke and then Stefan bit into his wrist, pushing it against Talia's mouth and forcing her to drink. "No! Stop, please!" She was desperate, clawing at his wrist, trying not to swallow the nectar and metallic tasting substance. "No, no, no."
"I just fed her my blood, I have a feeling that since you haven't turned her into a vampire yet that if I do she'll die, permanently." Stefan cocked his head, sneering at Talia who was whimpering in terror. No, no, no. "Really? Say good-bye to your family, Klaus, your coffins are next to go."
Talia attempted to grab the steering wheel, but Stefan easily batted her hands away. "Slow the fucking car, Stefan! Stop, Salvatore! I swear to God I'll rip out your spleen!" She hit his head, trying to get him to stop but the Salvatore wasn't stopping.
The bridge was coming into view, Talia's terror was like electricity in the air. "Stop the car, Stefan! Stop it!" She grabbed the 'Oh, shit' handle and squeezed her eyes, hearing the crackle of Klaus's voice on Stefan's phone as he yelled, too.
Stefan didn't stop, he drove towards the railing, the car went slamming through the railing and over the bridge. Talia screamed, slamming her fist against the car door as the metal vehicle sunk under the water. Stefan punched his way out and swam to the top, Talia tried to unbuckle her seatbelt but it was stuck.
She sobbed, water quickly filling the vehicle and she held her breath, trying not to pass out, trying not to die.

Klaus heard the sound of metal on metal as the car went through the railing, he heard his soulmate's desperate screams for her life and in a second was racing to the bridge. Stefan was nowhere to be found and the Hybrid dove off the bridge, swimming down and finding the black SUV that Stefan had been driving.
He swam towards the passenger's side and found Talia's form. She was passed out but he could hear her heartbeat, a good sign. He could feel the water filling her lungs as he punched the door and broke her seatbelt, lifting her up out of the water. The water filling her lungs only filled his, causing him to cough up water as he strained to push the water from her lungs using CPR.
Finally, she began to cough up the liquid and he sighed, pulling her into his chest with a tight hug. "Thank God, are you alright?" He squeezed her arm, urging her chocolate eyes to meet his icy blues.
Talia groaned and fell backwards, a dry laugh escaping her lips. "Damn, it's like I'm attracting danger this week."
Klaus was evidently not amused, he settled down next to her, both staring at the swirling cobalt waters. "This bridge has a habit of taking loved ones, Henrik died here. It was long before the bridge was built, obviously, but this is where the wolves got him. We were hiding, I thought . . . I thought I could protect him. I was a stupid, an imbecile." He closed his eyes, falling deep into the memory as Talia rested a soothing hand on his shoulder. "I can't lose anyone else here, Talia. Least of all you."
He stood up suddenly, shaking his head and grabbing her hand, pulling her into his chest. "Come along, let's get you dried off and you can enjoy a movie. I have a vampire to heal. I'll be back and we can watch something, anything of your choice."
He whisked her back to the rental and then left to go heal Caroline. When he returned, Talia was passed out on the couch, Brooklyn Nine-Nine playing on the TV, a bowl of popcorn abandoned next to her.
He smiled at the sight and placed a blanket over her sleeping form, putting the popcorn on the coffee table and turning off the TV and then light. "Good-night, Talia. Sweet dreams, sweetheart."
