- Zafira's POV -

       Since Simba ran off to go see uncle Scar, I decided to explore around Pride Rock. I went to go find Nala and maybe as her to play.

          As I can to the place were some of the lionesses like to sit in the sun, I accidentally bumped into someone else. It was a young male lion cub with tan fur and part of a black mane tuft on his head. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I-I didn't see you!" Then I realized that it was my good friend Jiwe.

        "Jiwe! Sorry for crashing into you, I was thinking about maybe going out to play? What do you say?"

        "It was just a accident..." Jiwe smiled at the lioness. "and, yeah! I would love to!".

         "Do you know where your sister is?" I asked the tan cub.

           "Follow me" He said as he ran towards a group of lionesses. I followed swiftly. Jiwe approched a mahogany furred lioness cub, who was three months older than him.
She slept peacefully in the sun.

         "Imani! Wake up!". Imani opened one amber eye before closing it again.

         "Jabari! I was sleeping!" Imani mumbled sleepily at him. "But sissss" Jiwe said in a classic little sibling voice that I heard a lot from Simba.

         "What?!" She growled at him. She then took notice of me. Her expression changed from anger to surprise. "Oh Zafira! I didn't see you there".

"I was gonna see if you wanted to go play on the savannah?" Jiwe asked, with a nervous grin.

"Actually, I don't know... my dad had to go kick some hyenas out of the pridelands not that long ago..." I nervously muttered.

"She's got a point Jiwe, it's not safe for young cubs like yourself". She laid back down and yawned.

"Hmmm, but if he chased them away, that means they're not in the pridelands anymore, right?" Jiwe thought out loud. I looked over at Imani, she appeared to have gone back to sleep again.

"Ok but I have to go ask my mom first, I'll be right back". Jiwe nodded and sat next to his sister.

I ran down the pathway to find Mom, she was resting in the sun with some other lionesses.

"Oh! Zafira, just in time for your bath, I thought I was going to have to get you myself" Mom smiled. I didn't resist, I knew that it would just take longer if  you did.

"Can me and Jabari go and play? " I asked, as Mom finished my bath.

"It's all right with me" Sarabi asssured me. "But be careful, Zazu won't be there to watch you two".

I was confused. "Why's that?".

"He's watching over Simba and Nala, they went off to play as well"

"Thanks Mom! I'll go tell my him"

I ran off to go tell my friend. "Hey! Jabari! My Mom said we can go play!"

"Awesome! So what do you wanna play?" He beamed.

"How about hide and seek? That's fun" I suggested.

"Yeah!!" The male cub laughed excitedly.

"Let's go I'll be seeker first!" I giggled.

After a while, Jabari found me and we started playing tag, after playing I heard what sounded like screaming. I looked around to try and pinpoint the source of the sound. Suddenly it hit me, literally, as Zazu landed on my head.

"Zazu?! What's going on? Where's Simba and Nala? Mom told m-" Zazu cut me off before I could say anything else.

"Simba! Nala! Elephant Graveyard! Hyenas!" He choked out.

"Hyenas?! Not good..." I turned to Zazu. "Zazu I need you to go get my Dad, if anyone can handle those hyenas, he can".

"Right" He said, flying towards Pride Rock

"I sorry I had cut our fun short Jabari..." I murmured, looking at the ground.

"No, it's okay. You were looking out for you brother. I understand".

"Let's go back to Pride Rock, our parents must be worried..." I said, walking in the direction of home.

~ No-one's POV ~

When Jabari and Zafira got to Pride Rock, they said there goodbyes and Jabari went off to find his sister.

"Mom?" Zafira whispered, walking up to her Mother.

"Hm? Oh Sweety you're ok!" Sarabi said, pulling her daughter into a tight hug.

"Mom, what happened? Where's Simba?" Zafira questioned, fearing the worst.

"Your brother is with your Father they're having a talk at the moment".

"I'm just glad him and Nala are ok..."

"I am too honey, now you should get some sleep it's getting late" Sarabi picked up Zafira by her scruff and set her down inside the cave.

Zafira cuddled against her Mother, falling asleep almost immediately.

- Meanwhile, in the Outlands -

"Man, that lousy Mufasa. I won't be able to sit for a week!" Banzai told Ed, the Hyena sitting next to him. Ed was in continuous laughter.

"It's not funny, Ed!" Banzai glared at him. That just made Ed start to laugh even harder.

"Hey! Shut up!" Banzai yelled as Ed continued on laughing. Banzai started growling at the derpy hyena and tackled him.

"Would you knock it off?!" Shenzi telled at her clan mates. "Well he started it" Banzai said, pointing to Ed, who was chewing on his own leg.

"Look at you guys..." Shenzi leaps off an outcropping onto a smaller one. "No wonder we're dangling at the bottom of the food chain"

"Man I hate dangling!"

"You know, if weren't for those lions, we'd be runnin the joint" Shenzi sat next to Banzai.

"Man, I HATE lions!" Banzai said.

"So pushy.."

"-And hairy!"

"-And stinky!"

"And man, are they-"

"UGLY!" Shenzi and Banzai said together. Suddenly, a voice came from the darkness.

"Oh, surely not lions are all that bad..." the Mysterious lion claimed. Banzai then recognized who it was.

Oh Scar, it's just you" He said, relieved.

"We were afraid it was somebody important"

"Yeah. You know, like, Mufasa!"

"I see..." Scar Muttered.

"Now that's power!" Banzai looked over to Shenzi.

"Tell me about it! I just hear that name, and I shiver..."

"Mufasa..." Banzai said, prompting Shenzi to shiver a little.

"Do it again!" The Female hyena encouraged.

"Mufasa! Mufasa! Mufasa!" Banzai joked as Ed rolled to the ground in laughter.

"I'm surrounded by idiots..." Scar rooled his eyes.

"Not you, Scar. I mean, you're one of us!" Banzai said, gesturing to the other two hyenas. "You're our pal!"

"Charmed..."

"Ooh, I like that! He's not king, but he's still so proper" Shenzi said.

"Hey, did you bring us anything to eat? Scar? Old buddy? Old pal? Did ya?" Banzai asked, turning to Scar.

"I don't think you really deserve this" Scar said, pulling out a Zebra leg. "I practically gift wrapping Simba and his friend for you... and you couldn't even dispose of them"

The hyenas leapt onto the zebra leg and began gorging themselves on it. "Well, it wasn't exactly like they were alone, Scar" Shenzi said, looking up from her meal.

"Yeah, what were we supposed to do?" Banzai added. "Kill Mufasa?"

Then Scar got a devious plan. "Precisely..." He grinned.

Scar started leaping from rock to rock, eventually landing next to his hyena friends. Green looking steam started shooting out of the vents underfoot.

I know that your powers of retention, are as wet, as warthog's backside.

Scar approached, Ed, who was chewing on a bone.

But thick as you are, PAY ATTENTION!

Scar swatted the bone away, as Ed saluted.

My words are a matter of pride.

Scar circled around the derpy hyena.

It's clear from you vacant expressions, the light are not all on upstairs.

Scar waved his paw in front of Ed, prompting no response but a goofy smile.

But we're talking kings, and successions.

Shenzi and Banzai laughed behind Scar.

Even you! Can't be caught unawares!

Scar leaped to where the two hyenas were, scaring them, so they landed on two steam vents.

Prepare, for the chance of a lifetime.

Shenzi and Banzai landed behind Scar as he continued singing.

Prepare, for sensational news!

Scar disappeared behind a rock formation.

A shining new era, is tip-toeing nearer!

Scar tip-toed past Shenzi as she sang.

And where do we feature?

Scar grabbed Shenzi by her cheek, and stalked off as Shenzi rubbed it with her paw.

I know, it sounds sordid. But you'll be rewarded. When, at last, I am given my dues.

Scar lept up to a rock mound where Ed was chewing away on a bone.

And injustice, deliciously squared.

Scar kicked Ed off and the hyena landed in a pile of bones.

BE PREPARED!

"Yeah! Be Prepared! We'll be prepared. For what?"

"FOR THE DEATH OF THE KING!"

"Why? Is he sick?"

"No, fool, we're going to kill him. And The Prince and Princess too!"

"Great idea! Who needs a king?"

The three hyenas started dancing saying, No king, in singsongy voices.

"Idiots! There will be a king!"

"Eh, but you said-"

"I will be king! Stick with me... and you'll never go hungry again!"

"Yayyyy! All right! Long live the king!" Shenzi shouted as more and more hyenas appeared, saying similar things.

It's great we'll soon be connected, with a king, who'll be all time adored.

Of course, quid pro quo, you're expected to take certain duties on board.

Scar traced one of his claws across his neck.

The future is littered with prizes... and tho I'm the main addressee...

Scar watched his hyena army march forward.

The point that I must emphasize is... YOU WON'T GET A SNIFF WITHOUT ME!

Scar lept down from the rock pillar to land right in front of Banzai, frightening the hyena.

So Prepare! For the coup of the century!

Scar jumped onto a rising rock pillar.

Be Prepared! For the murkiest scam!

Scar lept onto another rock structure next to three other hyenas.

Meticulous planning!

We'll have food!

The rock structure Scar was on continued rising as Scar and the hyenas sang.

Endless meat! We repeat!

Is simply why I'll!

Scar rose up in front of a cresent moon.

Be king undisputed! Respected! Saluted! And seen! For the wonder I am!
