Attempts On Dragonstone

[Dragonstone]

Daemon and Aelinor had been in the Chamber of the Painted Table when they heard a scream.

"Dyanna," Aelinor said, recognizing it.

They hurried in the direction it had come from. Well, as much as they could, given Aelinor's advanced pregnancy.

It appeared to have come from their chambers.

Which is where Dyanna and Aegar were.

Daemon reached there first, followed shortly by Ser Fowler.

Aelinor brought up the rear.

The first thing she saw when she entered was her husband and guard dueling with two unknown men.

Then she turned to the floor where she noticed Dyanna, blood covering the front of her dress.

She turned to her husband and sworn shield.

"Don't kill them! I want answers."

Watching as Daemon and Willem restrained the two men, she rushed over to her fallen friend.

"Dyanna!" Aelinor shouted, dropping to her knees and pulling her friend into her lap. "Fetch the maestar."

"No, no," Dyanna muttered. "It's too late."

"No, please. I'm not ready."

"We nevr are."

"I cannot lose another sibling. You have to fight."

"I did, and I did what I meant to do. Aegar is safe."

"Oh Gods! Aegar! Where is he?"

A tiny cry sounded from behind a curtain.

Daemon handed his prisoner off to another guard and peered behind it, reaching down, gathering Aegar in his arms.

"Take him away. He does not need to see this."

Daemon nodded and exited the room.

Aelinor turned back to her friend who had grown colder. "I need you. I am so scared."

"We are all afraid. But you-you are the strongest person I've met."

"Please, please. Let me fetch the maestar."

"There's nothing he can do." She grabbed Aelinor's hand with one of her bloody ones. "It's okay. I'm not afraid. I can't even feel it."

That was not good. It meant she was almost dead.

"Don't allow this to change your beautiful heart. I just want to thank you for being a friend... being my family. But, it's time to join them, wherever they are."

Her breathing continued to grow shallow, and tears continued to fall from her friend's face.

"My Queen," she whispered, the light leaving her eyes.

Aelinor could feel the tightness in her throat grow as she fought to control the tears that flowed freely down her cheeks.

Suddenly her grief was channeled into fury.

These men would pay for what they had done.

Gently lowering her friend's corpse to the ground, she told her guards, "Prepare her body."

Receiving a nod, she left in search of the two killers.

She found them on the cliffs with Daemon. Both were bound and on their knees.

"Who sent you?" She asked, tears still streaming down her face.

Neither man answered.

"I said who sent you?"

"We have already asked," Daemon told her. "They won't speak."

"Actually..." one of their guards spoke up. "They can't. Their tongues have been removed."

"Fine," Aelinor said. "Then it leaves me no choice. If you can't tell me who..."

She closed her eyes.

Other than Daemon, those in attendance were confused by her actions. At least until Freya approached them, landing behind her bonded.

"I, Princess Aelinor Targaryen, hereby find you guilty of the murder of Lady Dyanna and the attempted murder of my son, Prince Aegar Tyrell." She paused, looking up at her waiting dragon, before turning back to the men. "Dracarys!"

She watched as Freya spat fire on the two killers, and as they were reduced to ash, blown away by the wind.

"Princess..." One of the guards called. When she looked at him, he motioned to her blood soiled dress.

She looked down and noticed her water had broken.

"It's time."

Daemon carefully picked her and up and hurried her into the castle.

[Daemon & Aelinor's Chambers]

"Push, Princess!" One of the midwives advised.

"What do you think I'm doing, you cunt?!"

She really wished Eleanor and Dyanna were here. But, she would only see one of them again.

She beared down, pushing with all her might, letting out a guttural scream. At the same time, Freya also let out a roar. It was clear she was feeling her bonded's pain.

"And rest."

She collapsed against the pillows, one of the handmaidens, dabbing her sweaty forehead.

"And again!"

Another strong push.

"And rest."

Dear Gods. She would have to do this twice.

"Push!" She did, feeling a slight relief of pressure. "The head!"

She let out a series of breaths, screeching in harmony with her dragon.

"The first babe is out!"

"Is it a boy or girl?"

"You have a beautiful, healthy Princess."

She heard her daughter begin to cry, but barely had a second to acknowledge it when another rush of pain shot through her.

"The second is ready to come. Push!"

Again, she pushed, feeling a small relief, before falling back on the pillows that rested behind her.

Her head was dabbed by the same handmaiden.

She felt as though she were on fire. Only this time, it was nowhere near as comforting as it usually was.

"They're almost out. One more push!"

She sat up and screamed, pushing one more time, until she felt the familiar relief of the baby arriving.

The head midwife took the babe, checking it over and cleaning them, before wrapping them in a blanket, like their older sister.

"Another princess."

Both babes were placed into her arms, on either side.

"Would you like us to fetch the Prince?"

Aelinor nodded, looking down at her new bundles of joy.

Both had the trademark silver hair, marking them as the blood of Old Valyria, exactly like their parents.

Surely they would also share their purple eyes.

The door opened, and in walked Daemon.

"Twins. Two princesses."

She watched as his eyes lit up and a smile graced his face.

"Have you decided on names?" The head midwife asked.

"Rhyanna and Helaenyra Targaryen. First of their Names."

The eldest named after the woman who had been like a sister to her and the mother of Daemon and Daenerys. The youngest after the first Queen of the Seven Kingdoms and Queen Helaena, sister wife of Aegon II. Two Queens who met fates neither deserved, as well as two women dear to their hearts respectively.

Daemon held Rhyanna while Aelinor held Helaenyra.

They were here. The newest additions to the Targaryen dynasty. But, none of that would matter if the army of the dead were not defeated.

The next morning, all the staff and guards had gathered on the cliffs.

Dyanna's body had been wrapped and placed on a funeral pyre.

Aelinor stood, staring at the body of the woman she had met when they were children. A child who would grow to be like another sibling.

One who forfeited her life, so Aelinor's child could live.

She heard steps approaching behind her, but did not move.

"Pōnta're waiting syt ao." (They're waiting for you.)

"īlon rhēdan isse se geralbri hen dārys tegorīr. īlon istan jēnqa." (We met in the streets of King's Landing. We were eight.) "Ziry ēdan daor raqirossa. Daor lentor. Ziry ēdan daorun." (She had no friends. No family. She had nothing.)

"Ao became zȳhon lentor." (You became her family.)

"Nyke pendagon lo, ziry drējī understood skorkydoso grateful nyke istan syt zȳhon. Skorkydoso olvie nyke jorrāelatan zȳhon." (I wonder if, she truly understood how grateful I was for her. How much I loved her.)

"Ziry knew." (She knew.)

Nodding, she stepped forward, doing her best to muster her strength.

"Dr-" she stuttered, gulping, in an effort to prevent herself from crying, earning a low growl from Freya.

She felt a familiar hand on her shoulder.

"You can do it... for her."

It was her husband.

He was right. She had to do this. For Dyanna.

With one more deep breath... "Dracarys!"

Unlike her friend's killers, Aelinor found herself unable to watch as her dragon breathed fire on her friend - no, her sister's pyre.

When she found who did this, if they were still alive, they would wish they were not.

(A/N: Sorry for those of you who liked Dyanna. I really did too. But, this is Game Of Thrones, and unfortunately good people die. Also, why do some comments disappear? I see them in my notifications but when I go to respond to some of them, they're gone.)
