"Shirukoo!" The silver haired girl was snapped back into reality by her friend.
"Y-yeah? What is it?" Silalynn replied, taken off guard by Lydia's sudden yelling. The two of them were significantly close now, to the point where they basically lived in the same cell (being Silalynn's cell). And Silalynn was able to open up to her (about a few things) in a suspiciously easy way. But for some reason Lydia never spoke about herself at all, Silalynn didn't even know what her magic affinity was! All she knew was her appearance, name, and-
"You're spacing out a lot...are you ok?..." Lydia's tone coated in concern.
"Huh? Well...I just have a few things to think about-"
"Spill"
"W-wha? Ok.." Silalynn sighed. "Why won't you ever say anything about yourself"
Lydia just had a blank expression in her face. And all this did was make Sila panic.
"I mean you don't have to tell me some things if they're personal! But!-"
"Oh! No, I don't really have too much personal stuff at least...why are you suddenly asking me this?"
The Royal scoffed. "Why else, genius. Because we're frie- I've told you a bunch about me so I want to know about you! I only know what you look like and your name and-"
"Ok ok! I get it" The brown haired girl laughed. "So she was about to say we're friends, huh. Guess we are getting there in her eyes" she thought.
"Well what do you what to know, Silalynn?"
Silalynn slightly jumped up, she had never heard Lydia call her by her first name, nonetheless her full first name. "How about..." the silver haired girl put a hand to her chin as if she was a detective inspecting something. "That horribly shaped flute you always carry around, why don't you tell me why you still carry it around?" Sila shrugged. "I mean, Lady Vanica clearly favors you over the rest of us, so you could easily get a new one.."
Lydia put on the one expression Silalynn wasn't ready for. Surprise.
But almost immediately she put on a smile. "Well you see this flute is special. After all it's where my mana exists" Lydia responded.
"It's where your mana exists?...but.."
"Shiruko, I'm not normal, I'm quite strange. From the moment I came into this world this flute appeared. It's not like I don't have mana in my physical body it's just...ugh how do I explain this!" Lydia leaned against the wall and put a hand to her temples in frustration. Any negative emotion from Lydia was rare so this was new for Sila.
"Take your time, it's not like I'm going anywhere" Silalynn crawled over to her friend.
"Um well, it's like my mana is split between me and this flute. I only hold about 30% of my mana while my flute holds the other 70%. This makes it so my mana is forever stuck in the flute even after I die...unless it's broken.."
"Wait..does that mean that after you die people can still use your magic affinity since your mana is stuck in there?" Lydia looked down for a moment as if wondering if she could trust Silalynn with this.
"Not really. Since only some of my mana resides in the flute it cannot disappear but can merge with someone else's mana- you...you don't understand a single word I'm saying do you?" Lydia sarcastically raised a eyebrow.
"O-of course I understand! Who do you think your speaking to?! I'm r-royalty so of course I understand!" Silalynn turned away with a flushed face. She would always blush whenever her abilities were tested (in this case her ability to understand) and it was easy to see she was wrong.
Lydia sighed. "Shiruko, basicallyyyyy" she continued to explain since it was clear Silalynn didn't understand. "My mana doesn't merge with other mana, so if someone's mana were to combine with someone else's- "
"THATS SO RISKY AND SOMEONE COULD USE YOUUUUU!!!!'" Silalynn violently shook Lydia by grabbing her shoulders, seeming to finally understand what Lydia meant.
"S-stop shaking m-meeee!!"
"Oh- right" Lydia let out a mental sigh of relief when Sila stopped shaking her.
"First of all, I don't know what will happen, and I'll only really find out once I die" Lydia closed her eyes for a moment.
"I don't even have to worry about that possibility though. After all my flute will be with me till I die! And after I die I'll just give it to my child!" The periwinkle eyed girl smiled brightly, changing her personality quicker than you can run from a cockroach.
"Well is there anything else about it?!" The Royal was clearly excited about learning about this flute. After all she was finally learning something about her friend.
"Well not really...but it'd be cool if I, even after death could watch the person who takes my flute and they could speak to my spirit- oh wait! My flute is called the "Giver of Delight'"
"Huh..interesting" the silver haired girl put her hand back up to her chin.
Lydia clapped her hands together. "What else? I'm sure that you have other questions"
And true to that statement, Silalynn responded. "What's..your magic affinity. I just remember seeing purple smoke that one time we fought, so I'm thinking it could be a special gases affinity or some thing like that-"
After hearing that Lydia didn't even try to stop herself from laughing.
"O-Oi! Don't l-laugh at me! You're lucky royalty such as myself would even s-speak with a commoner like you!" Silalynn puffed her cheeks out and turned away.
The commoner's laughter died down. At this point anyone could see that Silalynn bringing up the fact she's royalty is something like a defense mechanism to what she thinks is ridiculing.
"That's easy! I can't believe you of all people wouldn't get it!"
"Of c-course I know what it is! I-I'm just testing-"
Lydia cut Sila off. "It's Music Magic, your highness!" She plastered on her signature bright smile.
Silalynn scoffed. "How does music translate to 'purple knockout gas'" the Royal raised a eyebrow.
"Well, music magic isn't as simple that playing it will hurt my opponents ears" Lydia closed her eyes for a moment, letting her eyes rest. "It's kinda like painting magic. Except normally people with music magic get a magic instrument once they start using their magic but I get my flute from before" Lydia said referencing "Giver of Delight".
"Music Magic lets me create anything I want from my imagination by playing certain melodies. For example, a soft melody could indicate a healing spell"
"That's overpowered.." Silalynn narrowed her eyes.
"Tell me about it"
"Don't sound so disappointed! Your a commoner with an amazing magic affinity! That's something to be proud of!"
"Oh no no! That's not it! I find my magic to be impressive to some extent but it does make me feel uneasy- what on earth are you doing?" Lydia looked up to the now standing Silalynn in utter confusion.
"Hold on a second" the royal quickly cut Lydia off. She seemed to be forming something with her Mercury...which looked like a mess, just a clump of hardened mercury. It was even more confusing she handed it to Lydia.
"Mercury is reflective and shiny so whenever you feel uneasy just distract yourself by looking at it!" Silalynn, unlike Lydia, is like a crow. She absolutely loves shiny things and they always distract her. But the intentions there! Lydia sweat dropped for a second but smiled the next.
"I mean...she's trying" Lydia thought before putting on a smile. "Yeah...I think I'll never feel uneasy again, not once more for the rest of my days"
"But how many more days will have have with Silalynn, I wonder...."
