41 - Last Chapter

"Love myself, love yourself"
-Kim Namjoon-
~~~~~
..You make me realize of how much I like you. I really like you to the extent that it hurts so much when I think about you..
"Min PD-nim, you need to stop doing that, seriously."
"And you should stop intruding into my office just like that." The annoyed young man put his glasses down as he slid a crumpled paper he had read before into the drawer of his desk.
"What do you want?" he asked coldly.
Sighed. "To remind you of the scheduled appointment at 5."
"I know, now leave." He put the glasses back and checked his watch, still one hour left before the schedule. He thought.
"Throw away that letter," said the intruder bluntly.
Snapped from his thoughts, he instantly looked at his uninvited companion as he heard the unexpected words that had been said boldly without any warning.
"Who are you to tell me this?"
"It's been 7 years for God's sake!"
"Park Jimin, are you done? You better get back and help Hoseok with those new kids than chirping those nonsense things. I'm going now." He grabbed his black leather jacket as he left the room.
Being left without any expected response from his friend - Min Yoongi, Jimin was beyond frustrated over Yoongi's current state. But not only Park Jimin, there were two other distant friends who were as frustrated as him. Two boys who kept their eyes on Yoongi from afar.
"After 7 freaking years, Park Jimin finally has the guts to say the taboo words."
"Yeah, but I bet it won't change anything,"
Jungkook heaved a deep sigh as he sensed the desperation in Taehyung's voice.
"Why don't you just stop watching them, like she asked you that day?" Jungkook said, throwing a glance back at Yoongi, who was now running to his car because of the pouring rain.
"I can't, I just can't leave them like this. I can't leave her like this."
Flashback
Soomin was taken aback by Yoongi's sudden words. Paralyzed for a moment as she tried to digest them, the only thing she had said was a simple "oh." Smiling like an idiot, she did her best to hide her mental breakdown.
"New, uh, new job?" she asked, her voice noticeably shaking.
"Yeah," he replied, staring at the petite figure standing insecurely in front of him, biting her lower lip as she shifted her legs back and forth.
"Great, good luck then."
She gave him one last smile before patting his shoulder and walking backward to her house, waving continuously until she reached the front door. She didn't wait for him to say anything, feeling helpless in this situation. For someone whose first love story was as messed up as this, it was too much for her to cope with.
She sat silently on her bed, staring blankly into space. She did nothing but try to calm herself. Taking a deep breath, she moved to her desk and started to write... until she fell asleep.
Soomin blinked as she heard the familiar voice from behind. She was about to turn around, but the owner of the voice seemed to prevent her from doing so. She could feel a warm pair of hands grab her shoulder and force her to keep looking at the scenery she always dreamed about - the unfinished tree house.
"Why are you apologizing, oppa?" she asked calmly.
"I'm making everything worse than before," he said, with a clear hint of sadness in his voice.
"Says who?"
Taehyung flinched at the unexpected question. Originally, he thought she would yell or even curse at him while crying. Her calm attitude made him even more worried.
"Soomin, you can be mad at me-"
"Why should I be mad at you? Shouldn't I say thank you instead? I mean, you've tried to end the Cold War between us, and it's working, at least for me. I finally have my sense and logic back after you showed me the truth. And the side effect of it, falling for him, isn't it so much better than holding a grudge? Don't you think it's healthier? Well, it's not what I feel right now, but that's what people always say. So, I'm very thankful for your careless attitude. I really am. Thank you for loving me this much, even coming back from your grave just to take care of me."
"How many times should I tell you that I'm not a wandering ghost?!"
Soomin couldn't help but laugh at her own teasing towards her beloved brother, but the laugh wasn't what Taehyung wanted from her. He wanted to hear her true feelings.
"Aren't you at least sad or upset about his leaving?"
"I am, but do I have the right to stop him? I mean, he has already wasted 10 years babysitting me (chuckled). So, why don't we just let him selfishly love himself, live his own life, and pursue his own dreams from now on?"
"And what about you? Won't you-"
"Waste my time crying and regretting everything? Hell no! I'll live my own life to the fullest! I'll cherish myself, my life, and my surroundings more than I ever did in the past. Don't you ever think that I will end up as a desperate virgin woman because of him! So that's why you don't have to worry about me again... I'm fine now, much finer than these past torturous 10 years... you should feel the same as well."
Silence came between their deep conversation as Taehyung caught what she was trying to say. "Will you promise me that? Promise me that you'll live your life to the fullest?"
"You can come back and smack my head as hard as you can if I don't."
"Aight, deal."
They smiled.
She smiled at the fact that she was beyond lucky to be loved in such an uncommon way. She never could have imagined that this Tim Burton-esque fairy tale would happen in her life. She was grateful.
"Then I guess this is a farewell as well?" Taehyung asked.
"Hm." She hummed while nodding, her petite backside view showing a quite different vibe. She looked tougher than before, which made her brother feel a little more relieved.
"Can I get one last hug?" He said.
In no time, she turned around and crashed herself into his warm embrace, hugging him as tight as she could. Trying not to cry was a useless effort as his broad chest welcomed all her sadness at once, the sadness of letting go of the two best men in her life.
"It's okay, just cry for one last time. Cry as much as you want."
Soomin, who had been sobbing uncontrollably for as long as she could remember, finally lifted her head to give one last look at his face, a memory she would carry with her for the rest of her life.
"What the fuck?!"
Teahyung flinched and grinned, rubbing the back of his head as the truth hit Soomin like a truck.
"Hi?"
"V?! What the-"
"Calm down, won't you? I'm your brother, Taehyung, or yeah, V."
"The hell?!"
He sighed. "Did the change in the color of my hair and eyes really matter that much? I was amazed that none of you realized who I really was."
"But how, I mean, ugh! What are you actually?!"
"Ah, about that, I can't explain it to you. It's not because I don't want to, but because I have no idea either," he chuckled, patting her head lightly. "So, bye?"
"Don't bye me, you asshole! Explain to me first! You even met Mom! How dare you not tell me about this earlier!"
His loud laugh was the last thing she remembered, along with the words "I love you, forever," before she finally snapped back to reality. She woke up.
End of flashback
"Remembering that deep talk between us just makes me realize how strange she was that day. Are you sure that Namjoon didn't possess her or something? That wise thought, even my parents would cry in disbelief if they heard it." Tilting his head a little, he looked at Jungkook, who was chuckling at his words.
"Whether he did anything or not, wasn't it a good thing for her to have that thought? Just look at her, she isn't growing up beautifully and greatly for nothing."
"It's kinda rare to hear you compliment her," Taehyung smiled.
"Didn't I always tell you that I have my eyes on those who try their best to live a meaningful life? Words are never my thing, I just give my compliments in my own way," Jungkook said as he stood up and prepared to leave the pink room they were in.
"Like when you suddenly gave Yoongi that big opportunity to live his dream as a producer in Seoul? I thought you hated him to the core."
"Who would hate him when he worked his ass off to the very edge of his limit to pursue his long-forgotten dream? Thanks to your annoying sister, who made him throw away that dream for such a long time."
A loud smacking sound echoed in the room as pain smeared across Jungkook's head when Taehyung put all his strength into it. "That's for talking bad about Soomin, and this is for keeping your eyes on her." Jungkook froze as Taehyung gave him a brief brotherly hug before leaving him behind.
"I'll be away for a while with Master Hotei, miss me, okay?!" Waving as he left the room, Taehyung's contagious laugh made Jungkook do nothing but laugh as well.
"Miss you, my ass!"
"Watch your words, Jeon Jungkook."
Jungkook flinched as he heard Seokjin's sudden voice from the side of the room. "Geez, could you just knock on the door first?"
"Pardon me? Isn't this my room? It's been years since both of you turned this room into your playground," Seokjin nagged while trying to comfort himself on the couch.
"Despite your ignorant and rigid side, you did a great job down there, same goes for you, Namjoon."
Jungkook looked around and found Namjoon standing against the door. "Well, didn't you play the biggest role here?" Namjoon said to Seokjin.
"Me? Nah, I just shared a little love here and there," he shrugged. "Now, shall we?" Seokjin nodded at the mirror, making Jungkook and Namjoon come closer and lay their eyes on it.
There was a man in an all-black suit with blonde hair walking, who annoyingly looked so charismatic in his own way. He was politely greeted by a staff member as he reached the fancy lobby of one of the great international public relations agencies in Seoul.
"Welcome, Mr. Min. This way, please," the staff member led him into one of the meeting rooms.
Ah, I forgot to check her name, he thought of the counterpart he was about to meet as he entered the meeting room.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Min."
Yoongi froze a second when he faced the one he had meeting with today. Kim Soomin?
Seven years. It had been seven years since that day. The petite girl who was insecurely fidgeting in front of him was now gorgeously and confidently standing right in front of his eyes, offering her hand for a shake.
So, at the end, this is the fate that has brought us, he thought as he snapped back to his senses and took her hand while greeting her calmly.
"Good afternoon, Miss Kim. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too. Now, shall we start the meeting about our upcoming project?"
