A few days later, Jamie stands in front of her pool, glass of rosé in hand as she sips at it lightly, the sun beating against her revealed skin in her short, noodle strap bodycon dress.
She hasn't been able to get the name Emerson Prescott out of her mind after the way her mom reacted when she heard it. It sounds some sort of familiar but she has no idea who this person is.
Turning around, her bare feet hit the ground as she makes her way back inside, hips swaying and she climbs the back stairs back into her house, downing the rest of her drink and setting the glass aside.
In the middle of her kitchen island, there's a bowl of pale pink lollipops and she grabs one, unwrapping the clear packet just as she hears,
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Jamie pauses at the sound of the knocks at her door then crosses through the first floor to pull it open, crossing her arms when she finds Crow standing there, dressed in an all black leather outfit and grey coat over top.
"Can we come in?"
"Who's we?" Jamie asks and on cue, Hitter makes his way up from their car, a mask covering his face as usual and the Davenport daughter sighs but steps aside. "How did you know where I lived?" She closes the door and leads the two siblings to her kitchen, where she offers them a glass of rosé but they decline, so she fills her own up and drinks half in one go- her lollipop forgotten.
"I'm a hacker, so I could easily find them...but Yasmine gave me access to all your addresses and private locations."
"Great." Finishing the rest of her drink, Jamie wipes the corner of her mouth, making sure her lipstick isn't smudged before setting the glass down. "I take it you have news for me? Because no offence but, I don't do friends."
"Well you can relax." Crow pulls out an envelope and slides it across the granite island, Jamie's hand scooping it up and opening it. She pulls out two images, one of a Filipino woman with dark hair and dark eyes, the other one of a white male with green eyes, tanned skin and blonde hair.
"Okay, so what?" Jamie slides the photos back and Crow and Hitter share a glance.
"We were hoping you recognised them." Crow says and Jamie shakes her head. "Well, that's Emerson Prescott...the woman is currently unknown but she shares the same surname."
Jamie picks the photos up again, hoping she'll get something the second time around but she still shakes her head. "I don't know this Prescott guy. Maybe come here next time when you have something useful-"
"He put a hit on you." Silver Hitter states and Jamie looks at him, eyes boring into his own as they both sift underneath the surface, trying to figure the other out and then she shrugs.
"Not the first time I've heard that. How do you know?"
"I was sent to kill you."
"Too scared to pull the trigger? I'll do it with you."
"Please, if I wanted to watch you kill yourself, I'd drive while you jumped in front of my car." Jamie isn't sure, but she swears she sees him wink at her and a smirk forms on her lips as she takes her hands up and down him slowly before meeting his gaze again.
"Okay okay. The point is Jamie, why does he want you dead?" Crow asks, getting back to the point.
"A lot of people want me..." She starts, still looking right at Hitter as she says this, his entire body tensing slightly before she adds, meeting Crow's eyes when she continues, "Dead. I'm not paid to keep up with them all."
"Do you have any idea where Prescott could know you from?"
"I do not Crow. I've told you everything I know, now if we've all wasted our time enough, I have to go. Duty calls." Jamie walks to her front door and pulls it open, stepping back to let the two siblings pass which-after exasperated sighs at her uncooperative nature, they walk out, not even turning back when she slams the door behind them.
"She's so freakin' difficult." Crow rants as they make their way to the car and Wolf doesn't say anything as he climbs in and pulls his mask off. "I mean, how did we not know all this time what sort of person she was? Except her surety is so amusing. Damn it!"
Now Wolf cracks a smirk at that as he pushes the key into the ignition.
"Jamie is like a puzzle piece with four straight sides but you still can't figure her out." Crow shakes her head. Wolf still doesn't say anything, as he thinks of just how accurate that is about the Davenport girl.

Silver Hitter watches in the middle of the night from his dark car, parked a feet away from a street light as Jamie Davenport walks, dark pants, knee high boots and a thick jacket.
She's speaking to a male dressed in a hoodie and old torn jeans, hands stuffed into the pockets and face concealed by the hat of his jacket.
"What are you up to?" Hitter says quietly. Jamie runs a hand through her short hair, before dropping it and holding the guy's arm.
The male holds her hand and that's when she takes a step back, shaking her head and crossing her arms, then raising them along with her voice as the conversation escalates. Still, Hitter doesn't make out words, just the slight familiar tone of her voice.
Seeing the man reach into his jacket, S.H grabs the car door and makes the move of intervening but then the man pulls out a paper and hands it to Jamie, who seems to thank him, before pulling a beanie low over her head and walking off, waving then climbing into a blacked out vehicle and driving off.
Moving out quickly once he's sure she's gone, S.H pulls a mask out of his car console and tugs it on over his nose and mouth, running to the guy before he disappears into his own car and grabbing his arms, pinning him against it.
"Yo man-"
"What did you just give that woman?" Hitter demands.
"What woman?" The man asks dumbly, his hood falling off and Hitter pauses when he finds it's an old friend he'd always seen Jamie with in the past.
"I'm Jamie's personal stalker, sent by her mother and you're going to tell me what was on that paper or I'll beat it out of you." The hitman threatens low and evenly and the other male's eyes widen.
"Shoot. You're the guy. It's just a file I found about some guy named Emerson Prescott okay? Stay out of it and leave her to it or she'll kill us both. That information is important to her... Now can I go?"
Bringing his fist back and clocking the guy in the nose, Silver Hitter then shakes his hand out and walks away to his car, climbing in and planning on rushing over to stop her before she looks at it but he can't be sure she hasn't.

Hitter makes his way quietly into the house, going upstairs without a sound before finding her room. Her house is illuminated like a Christmas tree, the white walls clean as though she just moved in.
He pushes the door open and finds her sitting at her vanity as she wipes off her makeup. There's a gun resting beside her and a reality show playing on the big flat screen TV mounted on her champagne coloured bedroom walls.
"How'd you know I was coming?" Hitter asks Jamie, knowing the gun is for him and she shrugs.
"If my mom told me to watch me, it's what I would have done first." She tells him, dragging a makeup wipe and taking off her lipstick, sparing him a glance.
Hitter is dressed in a coat and dark jeans, his hair styled away from his face, with a black leather mask over his mouth and nose.
Jamie looks away from him and finishes her face, giving Hitter the time to take in her appearance as well.
Instead of being dressed in the outfit she was earlier in the night, she's covered in a fluffy white robe, her tanned feet bare and perfectly pedicured.
Tapping at her lips with the pad of her finger and spreading lip balm, Jamie stands, looking at Hitter.
"You're a lousy breaker and enterer." She states and he scoffs, moving his eyes back up to hers instead of letting them trail. "Predictable much?"
"As if you could tell me-"
"Next door neighbour, crawl across the tree, jump onto my tree. Harness yourself to my roof, then jump down using the balconies and or occasional pipes to get to the door." Jamie rolls her eyes.
"The only way people know such a route would be if they used it themself...or put it there as the obvious way that people would avoid getting caught with when really, you don't even monitor it." Hitter fires back, which Jamie finds surprising. She was not expecting him to turn it back on her, but then again she should, after their exchange the day they were with her mom.
"Hm...Tell me the reason you're here. Because your sister is already watching me so it's not like you came to check on me." Jamie smiles, looking up at her security cameras and waving.
Crow's eyes flicker to the movement on her computer screen as Jamie waves and she curses in impressed amusement, then gets back to work, glancing every once in a while to see what her brother and Jamie are up to..
Hitter frowns, wondering how on earth she could have know that. Jamie pushes past Hitter, her shoulder bumping with his and he's left stunned.
He looks up the camera too and sighs. She's smart.
Turning and following after her, he finds himself with her in the kitchen as she takes out a few coffee beans, making some coffee.
"What's yours and your sister's deal?" Jamie asks, staring at the masked male across her kitchen and he shrugs. "Why do you care so much about my mom if you just work for her?"
Hitter doesn't say anything and she chuckles bitterly then goes and grabs a mug from her glass cabinet, taking out sugar then some milk, which she puts in a froth machine.
"I'll call you."
"What for?" Jamie looks up as she's in the middle of filling her mug, but then she diverts her gaze to finish mixing her drink.
"Just answer your phone James." With that said, he leaves, making a quick detour to Jamie's bedroom where he saw her discarded pants resting over a chair. Crow watches the security footage anxiously, making sure Jamie is still busy and she is, mixing her coffee before grabbing a can of whipped cream from the fridge.
Milk and cream? She makes a swirl and then shoots some in her mouth, licking her lips.
Hitter is searching through the pockets of the pants then finds the paper just as she's coming up the stairs. "Wolf, get out of there. Now." Crow warns urgently, watching as Jamie approaches her bedroom, Wolf runs to the window, climbs out, closes it then jumps.
Jamie opens the door sipping her coffee then walks to grab her gun and put it away before returning to her desk for her coffee when her eyes fall on the jeans she was wearing.
