An hour later, Jamie is ushered out of the elaborate boutique with hugs and kisses and promises to come back...she thinks. With very few actual English words being shared, she couldn't be positive. "I'll be back, not soon but eventually! Thank you! Okay bye bye!" Sighing breathlessly, Jamie gazes down at the numerous shopping bags she's holding and smiles lightly to herself.
"You too?" Eddie's voice questions and she looks up at him to find he's holding bags of clothing as well, Eleanor trailing beside him with a few too. "These are all hers."
"The women are just so sweet." Eleanor smiles and Jamie laughs, looking around for a familiar face, or rather pair of eyes. "He's waiting for us at the restaurant."
"Wolf?" Jamie asks and his friends nod. "Let's go then."
~•Wolf•~
"Ahhh!" Jamie screams as Eleanor bends down, scoops water in her hands and thrusts it towards her face. "Ele!"
I chuckle to myself alongside Eddie as we sit on a blanket on the warm sand. We've been spending every morning together, doing what comes to mind and Jamie has since looked and acted lighter instead of stressing about her biological parents.
She calls Yasmine to let her know she's okay, but makes it clear she doesn't plan on returning soon. In the nearly ten years I've been looking out for Jamie, I've never seen her with friends so it's refreshing in some way to see her in a place besides work.
I'm glad she came, because her presence has let me forget the actual reason we're here. As much as I act like my parent situation isn't a big deal, it's isn't a topic I like to touch in the first place which does actually make it a big deal.
"Your wife, is insane!" Jamie informs Eddie as she runs her hands through her dripping hair, standing above me in her white one piece swimsuit, mesh strips making a fascinating pattern over her perfect body. She finds me looking and smirks. I just smile underneath the comfort of my mask. "Come in the water."
"No can do. This mask isn't waterproof."
Jamie frowns. "Please? Come in the tub then." She goes down on her knees and grabs my hand in hers, tugging me up as she goes back up to her feet and I can't help but go with her as she drags me away in time of Eleanor claiming my vacated seat and waving gleefully at us.
Since the place we're staying at is technically a resort, we head to the pool area where an extremely empty hot tub is calling to us with bubbling water. I reach for the back of my shirt and drag it off over my head, tossing it aside and placing my hands on Jamie's waist.
She laughs and reaches her arm back for my neck, feeling the bare skin on her revealed one.
"So warm..." She muses and I smile, both of us climbing the stairs and lowering ourselves in the tub. The water is nearly scorching but we both welcome it, it's relaxing. We sit and Jamie stays between my legs, her head resting against my chest.
"Mind if we join?" Eleanor and Eddie climb in across from us and we all end up chilling in the steaming rolling water for hours, sometimes talking, most of the time enjoying the sound of the waves crashing in the distance. The entire time we've been in Argentina, the weather has been extremely nice to us, always perfectly cool and summery.
I'm definitely home.
~•Jamie•~
It's been almost a week since we've arrived in Argentina and I can feel the shift in mine and Wolf's relationship each day. The constant looks we share are definitely thoughtful and lingering. I've also grown pretty close to his friends, which was weird and trying at first, but it kinda helps to know that they're extremely understanding and laid back about life. Regardless of whether or not they themselves are in the illegal business, they're Wolf's family and seem clearly accustomed to the life.
I find myself going on walks on the beach to watch the sun set every evening and going for a swim in the resort pools in the morning, just to keep my mind calm and clear.
At first, I though having no Internet or cell service would be hard, but it gives me an excuse to stay away from the drama back home and focus more on the here and now. On the people here with me now like the amazing friends I've met.
I've barely kept my phone on but I charge it ever do often and use it to film our trip. It's my first vacation in a while-whether or not it's actually a vacation. Wolf most definitely doesn't mind when I refer to it as such.
"There you are." I smile and look up at Wolf, from my place on the ground, sitting on the sand and watching for the sun to set. He's dressed in shorts and a blue button up shirt, his mask white and covering his mouth and nose in the all too familiar way I've grown so used to.
"Hi."
"Can I join you?"
"Mm." I take off my sunglasses and he sits behind me so my back is leaning against his front, his hand running through my hair. "Don't you love the way the sun looks?"
"It's not as hot as you though."
"Shut up." I grumble, even as a smile graces my lips.
"Don't think I haven't seen you doing it on purpose." He whispers next to my ear and I raise my eyebrows as shivers rake over me at his suddenly low voice.
"What are you talking about?"
"White."
My cheeks flush. "You said you liked me in white so I thought...that I'd wear it for you." I turn onto my knees and face him, tucking my short hair behind my ears and smiling. His eyes trail over me, his eyes thoughtful and I tilt my head and sit back on my feet, still kneeling. "Don't think I don't know how much you love it."
"Lindos." He murmurs. (Beautiful)
"What?"
"Come here." He says, but I don't think that's what he said to start with. Regardless of that, I shuffle forward and fall into his embrace, straddling his leg and running my hand back through my hair so it's away from my face. "You're so beautiful."
I smile. "You too." I whisper, resting my head against his shoulder and close my eyes, feeling the warmth of the sun on my exposed back, as well as Wolf's hand, gripping the skin on my waist while simultaneously rubbing circles over it.
He sways us from side to side and I curl my hand around his shoulder, then the side of his neck and we just...hold each other.
It had been a long day of just Jamie and Wolf since the previously honeymooning couple has since completed their romantic getaway and returned to their home back in America. Things have been more quiet, more intimate, personal even between the two left alone at the island.
It's late at night when Jamie begins to stir to awakeness in bed, not really sure of the reason why she's being pulled from her slumber. Shifting her body around, her lips pull down in a frown and she raises her head, finding herself alone in the bed that seems too big not to have company.
Spotting a crack of light leaking in from the bathroom, Jamie crawls off the soft mattress and stands, the long sleeves of her night down covering her hands as she holds them against her chest as she crosses the room on the soft carpeted flooring.
It's eerily quiet, the sound of the waves crashing being heard as always but not much else but it's also...peaceful.
"Wolf?" Pushing the bathroom door open, pink, soft looking lips surrounded by dark stubble are what meet her vision first and for a second she can just stare at them, wondering what's wrong with the image before she gasps and pulls the door shut with a slam, leaning against it when she's done.
It can't be...no...oh why didn't she knock? But she didn't see much of anything else, it's alright isn't it?
"Jamie?" Wolf calls out from the bathroom, his voice slightly muffled through the closed door, wanting to know if it's her, having watched the door slam closed when there wasn't even a slight breeze.
"I-I didn't see a-anything." She stutters, her voice slightly muffled through the door and she scolds herself for the tremble in her tone.
It's just that, they haven't quite discussed seeing his face and from the first time that they ever kissed, the first time that he had ever taken it off in her presence she knew that his reason for covering his face was important to him. She didn't want to push and now... Now what does this mean now that she's seen-nothing. She hadn't seen...anything.
Glancing at himself in the mirror, Wolf smiles at his reflection then glances down at the sink where he placed his mask so he could wash his face, brush his teeth and trim his bearded jaw before she could wake up. She never wakes up before him or at all until he's finished freshening up and he gets into bed beside her again. He doesn't blame her today either, he got up at an odd time because he was already up really.
"Come here."
"No."
"It's okay Jamie." He urges and the door opens slowly, only showing a peep of her face. "Come."
Doing as he says, Jamie covers her face with her hands and walks over blindly, feeling her way over until the touch of his hands on her elbows guide her the rest of the way as he pulls her closer.
The sound of her heart pounding is penetrating her ears, the fastness making her slightly breathless as he pulls her into his arms.
"I'm sorry. I promise that I closed the door as soon as I-I even saw-which was nothing..."
"These few days I wanted to build our relationship on top of trust only... I'm sorry I wasn't able to give you that. I just didn't know how to show you the whole truth after I had kept it for so long and everything had somehow morphed into a routine that seemed too hard to get out of.
"Thanks to you, you made being comfortable around you easy though." Wolf chuckles, pulling her hands down and raising her face up to his.
Jamie's eyes are squeezed closed tightly and the sight is absolutely the most amazing thing in the world to him.
She never once disagreed or argued to keep her eyes open whenever he had his mask off and even now, in the fully lit room where all she has to do is open her eyes... She chooses not to for his sake.
"I already know you trust me, Wolf. If you didn't trust me, you wouldn't have let me see even a piece of you or let me come on this trip and call it a vacation when we know it's more important than that." Jamie insists, burying her face into his chest and letting his scent calm her nerves while simultaneously giving him a light peck. "It's okay you don't-"
"Open your eyes."
"No, really. This didn't happen, we can wait until you're ready because I don't wanna pressure you into-"
"Jamie, I don't want us to fall in love before you've seen my face... So please open your damn eyes and look at me." At those last words, Jamie's eyes fly open and she sucks in a sharp breath at the man standing in front of her.
Almost instinctively, she moves closer. Somehow, he isn't even a stranger, whether or not she's seen him before or not. The mask doesn't do him justice. His dark eyes had all she had seen for the longest time, the prettiest dark orbs ever but... Now his strong nose, slightly crooked between the eyes from being broken but manages to do unspeakable things to her. His gorgeous full lips are bared to her, the lips she had kissed more than a few times before and felt kiss her are finally revealed to her.
