~•Silver Hitter•~

Leaving Jamie's house, I was frustrated and stressed out about everything my sister was trying to warn me about, how I knew she was telling the truth but only to an extent in my opinion. I can't think straight. I head home, slamming the door behind me then disarming the alarm system behind me. Storming to the closest wall which is beside the coat closet, I flex my hands then ram my fist into it.

I tug my mask down to my neck when I feel the usually breathable material begin to slightly suffocate me and pant heavily as I continue to hit my fist against the wall over and over until it became numb and a bloody, strained mess.

I smell her still, I smell Jamie all over me and all I wanna do is go back and take her in my arms, let her comfort me even with the problems that don't concern her just because I want to assume she'd care but I don't. I don't because she's dealing with her own stress right now and doesn't need me to pile onto her problems which is why I left.

I shouldn't have kissed her that day by her pool. I shouldn't have let her feel comfortable enough to suggest the kiss in the first place because now I can't stop how much I really want her.

Crow was wrong to confront me in front of her, she didn't need to see that side of me–the side that...that made her flinch away from me.

Feeling my phone buzz in my pocket, I pull it out using my good hand and curse, catching my breath before swivelling around and heading back out, this time through the garage. I pass the different cars and stop in front of an Audi SUV I have, starting it with the keys I always leave in the ignition.

I open the garage doors then lower my foot over the gas, gripping the steering wheel painfully with my busted knuckles.

My phone rings this time and I connect it to the car and answer without checking who is on the other line, assuming that it's who texted me just prior.

"Yeah."

"Are you alright?" I tense at the sound of Jamie's soft voice and I slam on the breaks and pull over onto the side of the road, flicking on my hazard lights. "I wasn't going to call but...I'm not okay and I wanted to hear your voice to see how you were doing too since you left in such a fume." She can be so thoughtful.

"I'm fine, just a little busy."

"Not too busy to answer my call though." I smirk.

"You're supposed to say 'that's fine, you'll call me later'." I tell her, pulling back onto the road and flicking on my headlights as I continue to drive, easing the hazard lights off once I'm steady.

She laughs. "I'm not that sensitive, thank you very much." We stay on the line in silence, the only sound really her breathing since she's so close to the phone. "I'm not mad at you anymore. I'm too tired for that." Jamie tells me suddenly and I smile, taking my mask off completely and stuffing it away in a cubbyhole.

"That's good."

"I'm falling asleep." She tells me and there's nothing more I wanna do in that moment than hold her until her eyes shut in surrender to exhaustion.

"Okay. Sleep." I tell her and she hums in response, telling me not to hang up until she falls asleep. Even long after I hear her deep, even breathing, I stay on the line, the sound of her peaceful state calming me down more than she knows.

The familiar roads take me to the location I've memorised back and forth, but instead of complete dread filling the atmosphere of the car, I'm calm as I listen to Jamie, knowing that she's safe, probably with her lips parted as she drools only so slightly and lets her nose do most of the breathing as she rests.

She didn't need to call me, especially not after everything that happened today but she did and that rubs me in some type of way. I'm not sure if it's right or wrong but it's there and it's making me feel unexplainable things from the very first moment that I met her.

The Davenport blonde with the fierce shooter skills.

Doing up the belt of her tan colour, half sleeve coat, Jamie climbs out of the back of her mom's limo, followed by Yasmine herself and finally Mario. Pushing her dark sunglasses higher up her face. She brushes nonexistent dirt off her matching fitted trousers then looks up at the building in front of her.

Her hair is curled wavy and fun today, her makeup done glow and her feet in her favourite pair of nude pumps.

It's a decently warm day, it's a shame it has to be spend under the circumstances that have brought the family together today.

Accepting her mother's offered hand, they climb up the stairs leading to the courthouse offices, stern lines set firmly on their lips as they head to complete yet another day of biological mother will discussions.

Walking in, they come face to face with Emerson Prescott and Jamie looks at him blankly. He stares at her the same but even through the dull gaze, he still has that curious glint in his eyes about her like he wants her gone and present all in the same.

"Jamie." Mario calls and she nods, turning away from the man who helped give her life then she walks away, her hips swaying confidently as she shows Emerson Prescott just how unaffected she is by his mere presence.

.....

"...the next part reads as follows," Jamie has been zoning in and out of the reading of Connie's will, not wanting to know about her so and so family in the least, even as everyone at her gazes with familiarity in their gazes, obviously knowing that she has to at least be some sort of distant blood because of the resemblance Jamie has to the deceased, Connie. "...And finally James Davenport, because you were so dear to Connie's heart, she wishes to leave you sixty percent of her entirety which we will disclose in private for security reasons."

Finally zoning back in, Jamie looks at her two lawyers and they sit up straight as well. Looking at her mom, Jamie shakes her head.

"Sixty percent? Who the hell is she?!" An outburst is made and Jamie stays as stiff as steel as she feels her mother's warm hand clutch hers underneath the table.

"She is Connie Prescott's first daughter. That will be all for—"

"NO! That's NOT possible!" Emerson Prescott continues his sputtering and Jamie's security guards are quick to jump in front of her and hold the emotional man away from her. She remains blank faced, seeing that he really didn't know what she was to him when he was trying to have her killed. It doesn't matter anyways, Jamie doesn't want anything like fortune from Connie. Well, now she knows why he wanted her dead. If the roles were reversed, Jamie would wanna kill the stranger who their significant other had left more than half of their entire estate to.

It's comical, really.

"Cool off Mr. Prescott!" Russell Kilpatrick shouts but Emerson still dives for Jamie, who stares at him with dull eyes even as she's being pulled out of the room by her mother. Numb by everything around her, Jamie pulls her jacket closer around her as even Mario wraps an arm around her waist to guide her away from the raging Emerson Prescott.

"Jamie, are you alright?" Yasmine asks her daughter when they get outside and she nods, hugging her mother tightly and resting her cheek against her shoulder.

"I'm fine. Mom I don't want the estate."

"I know Sugar, dad and I will figure it out." Jamie raises her head and looks surprisingly at her mom, then at Mario who nods firmly and she laughs to herself at their banding together for her sake, imagining how fast her 'parents' will be back to their usual bickering selves.

"Miss. Davenport?" Jamie and her mom both turn to the man who called them and he slips an envelope into Jamie's hand.

"You've been served." Then he walks away. Stepping forward, Mario grabs the envelope from his daughter before she can even take a glance and opens it, eyes trailing over every word and then his nose turns up in disgust.

"You're being sued for identity fraud."

Jamie looks at her mother's face, a mixture of anger and disbelief but doesn't react for herself, except for walking a few steps away and texting her driver to come pick her up ASAP.

Tapping her foot restlessly as she listens to her 'parents' discussing their next steps, Jamie stares at her phone, texting Hitter that she needs to see him. When he doesn't reply as speedily as she'd like, she deletes all the messages since he didn't even read them and texts Kimmy instead.

Jamie: Where u at?

Kimmy: Out of the city.

Jamie: I need a distraction.

Kimmy: typing...

Jamie anxiously stares at her screen, glancing up every couple of seconds at her parents, who stand together, now with her lawyers before looking right down at her phone.

Kimmy: I'll text you one within your distance.

With that confirmation out of the way, Jamie runs a hand through her hair then walks back over to her parents to explain that she's leaving and doesn't know when she'll be back.

"You have to come back by the court day or they'll issue a warrant for you to be brought in." Mario says and Jamie rolls her eyes impatiently.

"Yeah well I'm sure my 'big strong daddy' can take care of that." Hearing the roar of her Lamborghini, Jamie takes out her sunglasses and slips them on over her face, strutting to the car and clicking her tongue for her driver to climb into the passenger seat instead.

"Jamie." Yasmine calls out and Jamie pushes down a button that opens her sports car into a convertible. Jamie looks at her mom then waves, revving up on the gas while tugging her seatbelt around her body.

"I love you." Jamie says over the load humming of her car and Yasmine and Mario sigh at her retracting behaviour.

Seeing the court doors open, Jamie watches Emerson Prescott piles out with a few security guards and his legal team. She smirks.

"Prescott!" Jamie calls, changing gears and reversing back slightly so she can meet his gaze properly as she pushes her sunglasses to the tip of her nose. "Next time file for a restraining order too if you're going to go after a Davenport. Just a suggestion." Winking, Jamie pushes her sunglasses back up then places the car in drive again.

"Oh and one more thing," Jamie says, revving the car once again as she grips the steering wheel and he stares at her in disbelief when she smiles sweetly and says, "See you in court."

Stepping on the gas, Jamie accelerates down the street, her driver gripping he edge of her seat at the powerful speed her boss is going at but Jamie only presses on, changing lanes and roads so cars don't dare slow her down.

She let him get away with what he did to Hitter, but coming after her...Jamie shakes her head and clicks her tongue mentally. Well that's just a hell no.

Hearing her phone chime, Jamie tells her driver to answer is since she's the one not driving at the moment.

"It's a name!" The other female shouts over the sound of the loud wind and roar of the strong engine.

"Who from?" Jamie asks, glancing in her mirrors while deciding her next way to go.

"Kimmy." Jamie smirks.

"Good."
