I call this sketch 'anime Pertuli.' 

Pertuli started life in my head as an NPC for a city adventure D&D campaign I ran back in the late 90's. I had been drawing comics for five years or so at that point, mostly in a somewhat realistic style (realistic for American comics, anyway), and began to wonder how the characters in the game would look if translated into something for animation. This sketch is probably from 1999 or 2000. 

Although I call this 'anime,' really it's supposed to be simplified for American animation along the lines of Batman:The Animated Series or Gargoyles (i.e. not Disney). 

The Pertuli character in my D&D game was meant to provide background info for the PCs, a slightly higher-level contact in case backup was needed, and an alternate love interest for one of the PCs (A gray elven rogue with a penchant for overusing her seduction proficiency). He was also their RP "in" to the elven world of Dracoscala City. 

Since then, the world has matured from a D&D game world into full-blown fantasy fiction, Elves evolved into Tilwen, and Dracoscala swapped its "c" for a "g"... and yet Pertuli is still the same old rascal ;) 

You might note that several items of Pertuli's character have already made an appearance, way back then... The spiral hand guard of 'Tuli's rapier and main gauche, for instance, as well as the unicorn motif, which later became the Silver Blades mascot, not the Ill'Enniniess coat of arms.
