'Silver's POV'

We aren't talking about the institute or the white coats today, everyone's avoiding the subject. I don't mind though, I don't feel like talking about them either.

I sit on the grass with Kadence and Lilian as the guys train

"Mommy, can we go to a place like this?" He asks, looking up from his picture book. He's pointing to a picture of a park

"Yeah Silver, let's go to a park!" Lilian exclaims

"The park!" Kadence echoes

"I'll have to ask the others about that." I stand up and walk to the guys

"Cole, is there a park in Ninjago?" I ask

"Yeah, we've got some great parks. Why?" He asks, walking over to me

"Because Kadence wants to go, but I don't have any idea where they are." I answer, looking at the dry green grass

"I can take you. Is it only us three?" He asks

"Lilian's coming too." I answer

"I will join on your adventure to the park." Zane says

"Yeah, it'll get us out of training." Jay smiles brightly, walking over as well. Lilian sets her hand on my shoulder, Kadence taking my opposite hand

"And I guess I'll come." Kai smiles at Lilian, she returns the gesture

We go inside to get changed. I take a purple T-shirt -one that hides my wings- and ripped black jeans with the shoes that Nya called 'converses'.

Lilian is dressed in a cute pink sundress and white flats. We still tell everyone that asks about her ears that she's a 'cosplayer', whatever that is.

Kadence is wearing a black hoodie and grey jeans. His hoodie conceals his wings, while his jeans hide his tail.

I place a grey baseball cap on his head "keep this on while we're in town." I tell him

"Why?" He asks, looking at himself in the mirror

"To hide your ears." I answer, tying my hair into a high ponytail

"Mom, why doesn't everyone else have ears, or a tail, or wings?" I kneel down and place my hands on his shoulders

"Kadence, we aren't like everyone else. We're mutants, we're different, and different scares people, so we have to stay hidden." The sooner that he learns that we aren't like everyone else, the better

"It makes us unique." He states. Where did he learn that word? From Lilian?

"Yes, it does." He pushes his forehead to mine and smiles

"I love you mommy."

"I love you too, Kadence."

He hugs me tightly and I pick him up.

Kadence holds my hand as we walk down the busy streets of Ninjago.

"Guys, Nya and I are going to stop at the mall, we'll meet up with you later." Jay says, as they wave and walk away

Once we arrive at the park, Zane disappears to the garden. Lloyd leaves to go to the comic book store, and Lilian and Kai leave to spend time alone at a cafe.

I smile as Kadence plays a game of grounders with a few other kids. I've never seen him look so happy. Cole wraps his arm around my waist, I rest my head on his shoulder

"He's cute." I hear someone say. I turn to see a middle aged woman with greying blonde hair and blue-hazel eyes

"Who?" I question

"Your son, the one hanging from the monkey bars." She says

"Thank you." I look back at Kadence, watching him run around with the others kids

Then I realize it. That woman must think that Kadence is Cole and I's son. Do we look like a couple? We must. But does Kadence really look like our son?

"Cole, will you come and push me on the tire swing?" Kadence asks, looking up at Cole with his big blue eyes

"Of course I can." Cole kisses my forehead and walks Kadence over to the tire swing.

Kadence giggles wildly as Cole pushes him back and forth.

I smile, he really is happy. I'm so glad that Kadence is out of that place, that he won't have to live like I did.

We meet back up with everyone in time for dinner. Sensei, Garmadon and Misako meet us and we all go out for dinner.

We sit in the restaurant, eating our dinner, when Kadence suddenly clutches his baseball hat, trying to cover his ears.

"Kadence, what's wrong?" I ask, placing my hands on his shoulders

"Mom, that sound... Don't you hear it..?" It seems to hurt when he talks

"Someone is blowing a dog whistle that only Kadence can hear, since he has the ears of a wolf." Zane states

"They're here." I look around, they must've disguised themselves

"We have to get out of here." Lilian whispers worriedly

"Sensei, they have the house surrounded." Zane's eyes turn from lifeless to staring at Sensei

"Okay, boys, you take Silver, Lilian and Kadence into Ninjago's thickest forest. We cannot return to the house yet. We will meet you there shortly." The guys nod and we quickly walk out of the restaurant

"Where is the forest?" I ask

"On the other side of Ninjago..." Kai sighs

"And we can't even take the Ultra Dragon." Jay whines

"Guys, let's go!" Lilian squeals as she spots a white coat rounding the corner.

We make our way to the other side of Ninjago by rooftop. I fly slightly above the rooftops, holding Kadence, while the others run beside us. I've been teaching Kadence to fly, but he still gets nervous when he has to fly.

We stop when the buildings do

"This is it, the thickest forest in Ninjago." Lloyd says, beginning to climb down the ladder on the side of the building.

I land beside them after everyone's down.

"Let's go." Lilian sucks in a deep breath. I can tell she's nervous.

We walk into the forest, trying to avoid making noise. We walk for what feels like hours, until we come to a little pond

"This looks like a good spot to camp out. Don't you think?" Jay asks

"Yes, this looks like a nice place to stay." Zane answers

Kai starts a fire as it starts to get dark. Kadence shivers in my arms as I sit around the blazing fire.

"M-mommy, I'm cold..." He whispers, looking up at me

"I know Kadence, but I don't have anything to give you. I'm sorry."

"Here he can have my sweatshirt." Cole hands Kadence his black one

"Really?" Kadence asks

"Yes." Kadence puts his arms through the arms holes and does up the zipper. He's practically swimming in the sweater. It covers his whole body plus some, it's more like a blanket for him.

"Are you sure, Cole?" I ask, looking at him

"Yeah, I'm going to scout the area and collect fire wood with Jay, he can have it."

"Thank you." Kadence snuggles up against my chest again

"Goodnight mommy." He says

"Goodnight Kadence." I pet his hair

"Aww, he's so adorable." Lilian whispers as she comes to sit beside me

"Thanks." I sigh. Am I doing this right? Being a good mother? I don't have any idea what a mother is supposed to do, so I can't really tell.

I yawn and lean on Lilian's shoulder

"You girls can go ahead and go to sleep, Lloyd, Zane and I are going to stay up and wait for Sensei, Garmadon and Misako." Kai says

"Okay..." I whisper, already half asleep.

I hear Lilian giggle as she lays me back, then laying down beside me.
