Chapter 9

Sara once again found herself in the library, though this time she was accompanied by both Blaise and Draco.

The three were finishing up some homework before Draco and Blaise were going to play in the first Quidditch match of the season.

She was excited to see them play. The first match was Slytherin vs Gryffindor. Sara was rooting for Slytherin.

"Sara, you coming to watch the match, right?" Blaise asked.

Sara chuckled, "Of course, I am."

The three continued with their work before Draco and Blaise had to leave to go change.

Sara decided to finish up her essay before heading down to the Quidditch pitch.

On the way there, she passed Harry, Fred, and George. She smiled as she passed, giving them a quick "Goodluck boys, " and walking passed without another word.

Sara sat amongst the crowd, decked out in green and silver to show her support for her house. She found Theo on the way to the stands and together they found a promising seat.

The crowd bounced around in anticipation and excitement. The Slytherin team whizzed around in flashes of green before getting into position. They received loud cheers from their house, loud enough to block out the boos from the Gryffindors.

The Gryffindor team followed, receiving cheers from 3/4 of the school. Sara noticed yet another Weasley on the team. Ron Weasley, the Gryffindor team's new Keeper.

The two captains shook hands. The quaffle was thrown into the air, beginning the game.

Sara cheered a little bit harder each time Slytherin scored, and for the first time, she booed the Gryffindor team when they scored.

Half-way through the match, the Slytherins started chanting a song. Sara listened to the crowd around her, it was about Ron Weasley.

She looked to Theo, a raised eyebrow asking a silent question. He sighed and nodded to Draco who sat high above the rest of the players searching for the golden snitch.

The Slytherins were winning by 20 points. Draco was getting frustrated. Harry zoomed past him, Draco following soon after.

The two chased after the snitch, Harry catching it.

The Gryffindors cheered loud for their team. Sara rolled her eyes. She was going to have to speak to Draco.

Theo and Sara walked down to the field to see Draco, who seemed to be talking to Harry. She knew it could be nothing good, so picking up her pace she was able to reach Draco.

She noticed that Angelina Johnson was holding back Fred and Harry holding back George.

All of them looked tense. She was able to hear the last part of Draco's speech before all hell broke loose.

"Or perhaps, " said Draco, "you can remember how your parent's house stank like, Potter and Weasley's pigsty reminds you of it—"

Harry and George charged towards Draco, Harry punching him in the gut as George hit his face.

Shocked, Sara ran forward, screaming, "Draco! Harry! NO!" as she did so.

Madame Hooch shot a spell at Harry, pushing in back.

Sara saw the blood running from Draco's nose and the bruise forming on his cheek. She ran forward and stood next to him as he was helped up by Blaise.

"Draco! What were you thinking?" she scolded.

Her natural instinct kicked in and she grabbed Draco by the arm, "Let's get you to the infirmary," she said in a soft voice.

She heard someone scoff behind her and turned to see the twins and Harry. "How can you help him?" Harry asked.

"He's as much of my brother as you are, Harry," Sara said, looking hurt at the question.

"Did you not hear what he said about our parents?" He sneered at her.

A look of recognition crossed her features as she remembered the last bit of Draco's sentence before the fight started.

She sneered at the boy and shoved him.

"Sara? What are you doing?" He argued.

"They're my parents too," She said before walking off.

She hadn't even paid attention to what he said. She could not believe he would say such a thing. He's insulted Harry countless times before, she couldn't stop him from doing that, but he always made sure to leave family out of it, for her sake.

She was struggling to hold back the tears that threatened to fall. She thought she was overreacting, being over emotional.

Perhaps she was, but he still had no right to do that, she thought.

Sara had shuffled all the way up to the castle, finding herself in an abandoned hallway, she finally allowed the tears to come out. Not only for today, but for the past few weeks where she could physically feel the distance between her and her brother growing.

A few minutes later quick footsteps echoed across the hall. She didn't bother to look up, far to embarrassed at this point.

"Sara?" A familiar voice called.

She looked up to see Blaise standing across from her. "Hello, Blaise," she whispered, wiping her tears away.

Blaise was having a hard time seeing her like this. He hated seeing the girl upset. It was unnatural and he despised it.

He crouched down next to her and pulled her into a hug. Sara continued crying, feeling safe in the boys arms.

"It's okay, Sara, you'll be okay."

Let's stand together to put a stop to racism, and to the unfairness people face because of the colour of their skin.

If you have ever faced racism, know that you are important, you matter, you are not inferior, you are amazing.

Your race does not define you, stand above it, but most of all, stand above those who want to push you into the dirt, who want you to fall, to burn.

Rise above those who want to see you fall.
