Fourty-Four: The Finale Part Two

"Well done to the last, Scott. Like the concerned friend you are, you brought Jackson to Derek to save him. You just didn't realize that you were also bringing Derek to me." I frowned in confusion at Gerard's choice of words until a movement behind the pillar caught my eye. Scott and I ducked, my head spinning as an arrow whipped past me and into Isaac's shoulder.

Scott shot up quickly, and the look on his face had said it all. He smelled like betrayal, looked the part, too.

Shit, I felt betrayed. I thought we were becoming friends.

"Allison?!" Scott yelled as she disappeared again. If her perfume was strong enough, it could have washed out the pain she felt. But that was clouded by anger.

And for what, I don't want to know. But now I was angry as well.

I ignored the gunshots coming from Chris as Isaac yanked the arrow out, Scott, him and I all shifting, eyes glowing with rage at what Gerard had done to our friend.

Derek jumped over a stack of wood and growled, eyes glowing red as his face morphed, fighting off Jackson.

Also, did I forget to mention Jackson wasn't actually dead, but was basically a caterpillar in a cocoon for a few hours? Well, he's alive.

'Yay.'

Isaac kept at the chance to attack Jackson, who grabbed him by the throat, throwing him aside as I jumped at him from behind, latching onto him by the neck and sinking my teeth into his shoulder.

I didn't really know what to do after that other then let myself get flipped off and land next to Isaac as Derek and Scott took their turns again.

Isaac slowly stood up and my eyes widened in fear as Allison started to attack him, both figuratively and literally stabbing him in the back.

And slowly, she turned to me as I sat up against the wood, holding my shoulder.

"Why?" I croaked out as she knelt down, staring into my eyes. There was a cold look on her face, and it felt like I was just staring at a heartless creature.

She didn't even look like Allison.

Before she could say anything, Jackson grabbed her by the throat and hauled her up, Gerard now walking towards us all.

"Not yet, sweetheart." He called out as a wave of fear washed over Allison.

"What are you doing?" She asked, almost like she was begging to be released.

"He's doing what he came here to do." Scott answered, and Gerard looked over at him slowly, a smirk on his face.

"Then you know."

"What is he talking about?" Allison questioned, turning her head between Scott and Gerard. I grunted and stood up slowly, walking over to stand next to Scott.

"It was the night outside the hospital, wasn't it, when I threatened your mother. I knew I saw something in your eyes. You could just smell it, couldn't you?"

"He's dying." I turned to see Isaac sit up, his face returned to normal.

"I am." Gerard started, staring down at Isaac. "I have been for a while now. Unfortunately, science doesn't have a cure for cancer yet. But the supernatural does."  Gerard flicked his eyes to Jackson, whose grip strengthened around Allison's neck.

"You monster!" Chris yelled.

"Not yet."

"So you think that some alpha bite will make you better?" I asked as Gerard laughed.

"It made Erica better, didn't it?"

"So you'll kill your granddaughter?!" Chris asked, and Gerard's eyes widened like it was a challenge.

"When it comes to survival, I'd kill my own son!" His voice raised as I stepped forward, Scott grabbing my arm tightly.

"You're no father if you'd chose your own life over his." I spat. Gerard hummed, taking a sideways step.

"You've got quite the mouth. Talk anymore and I'll—" Allison gasped as Jackson continued to squeeze her throat. "Scott."

Everyone's eyes landed on Scott as he shifted back, hesitating to walk over to Derek and yank him up.

"Scott, don't!" Derek pleaded, eyes frozen to the floor as he had been paralyzed. "You know that he's gonna kill me right after. He'll be an Alpha."

"That's true. But I think he already knows that, don't you, Scott? He knows that the ultimate prize is Allison. Do this small task for me, and they can be together. You are the only piece that doesn't fit, Derek. And in case you haven't learned yet, there is just no competing with young love." Gerard snickered as Scott slowly brought Derek closer to him.

"You'll really let Gerard kill him to save the girl that just tried to kill your friend?!" I yelled, Scott snapping his head in my direction.

"I'm sorry. But I'll do anything for her." He whispered, forcing Derek to bite Gerard's arm, who then yelled in pain.

Gerard sighed in victory, everyone's eyes furrowing in confusion as his arm leaked with black blood.

Everyone except for Scott, at least.

"What? What's wrong?!" Gerard looked down at his bleeding arm, face contorting with horror as he quickly rummaged through his pocket, taking out his capsule of pills, a few dropping on the ground as he stared at them. "What did you do?!"

Scott smirked with pride as he turned to us all. "Everyone said Gerard always had a plan. I had a plan too."

"Mountain ash?!" The hag— Gerard yelled and fell to his knees, black blood dripping out of his nose, his mouth... everywhere. I turned to Allison as tears started to fill her eyes, and I couldn't help but even feel a little sorry.

My head snapped back as I heard retching, looking to see Gerard spewing out black ooze. Was not a pretty sight.

And then he fell.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Derek asked quietly, Scott slowly looking down.

"Because you might be an alpha... but you'll never be mine."

"Kill them! Kill them all!" Gerard bellowed before passing out. Jackson slowly let go of Allison, who elbowed him in the... where his nose used to be, and ran off to the side, a loud screeching noise echoing in the parking garage.

"Stiles." I mumbled as his Jeep slammed into Jackson, knocking him to the ground.

"DID I GET HIM?!" He yelled, eyes squinted shut as I chuckled softly, stopping when Lydia yelped as jackson jumped onto the Jeep, Stiles yelling and getting out of the passenger side with Lydia, sprinting over to me.

I grabbed him by the arms, pushing him behind me as Lydia just stayed put.

"Jackson!" She yelled, her breathing loud and uneven as her eyes were only glued onto his claws. "Jackson!" She repeated, slowly pulling out a key.

And he paused.

Jackson stared at key, claws raised to attack her but frozen in their place like he was hit with a wave of memories.

And slowly, everyone watched his skin return to normal, his tail disappearing and the claws retracted. His eyes went from yellow to there usual bright blue color, and he grabbed the key.

Derek slowly stood up and I finally remembered Peter's presence as he emerged from his corner, and both ran at Jackson sinking their claws into Jackson's stomach and back.

"Oh my god." I mumbled as they raised him into the air before dropping him, Lydia grabbing Jackson as he slowly fell to the ground.

I watched as Jackson dropped the key.

And his head fell onto Lydia's shoulder, limp, and she sobbed into his own shoulder.

"Where's Gerard?" Allison spoke up, Lydia slowly standing up and starting to walk back over.

Stiles grabbed my hand and clutched it, the two of us watching Jackson's hand form into a weak fist, his claws scraping the cement as his eyes popped open.

And he slowly stood up.

Very weirdly, by the way.

"Oh— he's naked and a werewolf. Great." I hummed as Lydia jumped back into Jackson's arms, turning to see Stiles smiling softly.

I guess we'd all be okay for now.

"When you realized I was an Edric... why did you look so afraid?" I asked Peter as he sighed loudly, sitting down in his chair.

"Do you know of your family's history, Dean?"  Peter asked and I shrugged.

"I know my great-great-Grandfather was a werewolf and got killed. I know Allison is my long distant cousin because of my werewolf history."

"But do you know how they came to be werewolves?"  Peter asked as I pressed my lips together, shaking my head. "In the 15th century. During The Wars of Roses, a man named Hugh Edric was badly wounded and to survive, he ate the heart of a wolf. And he triggered something inside him when he killed someone during battle. A curse, if you want to call it that."

"Wait... so you're saying that my... really great grandfather is..?" I couldn't really wrap my head around the ridiculous assumption. Not to mention how confusing it was historically for me.

"The first werewolf to exist, yes. That also makes your family a fairly feared werewolf family."

"But I wasn't born a werewolf?" I raised a brow as Peter sighed, and nodded.

"Yes, because when your great-great grandfather was killed, the hunter that killed him happened to be a witch. A very powerful witch that cast a spell on your great grandfather and made his werewolf gene dormant. And your father's gene was dormant until Talia but him." Peter explained as I raised a hand up.

"Wait... Derek's mom but my dad? Why?"

"Because she needed him for power. She knew packs would fear her if they found out there was an Edric werewolf back. But... he killed himself before anyone could find out he was turned." Peter sighed as I sat down slowly, rubbing a hand over my face.

"Do you think people know? That I'm a werewolf?" I whispered, and Peter slowly turned to a picture on his computer, which was merely a spiral.

"Oh I don't doubt that at all."
