Ch. 9
A week flew by in a blur for Izuku. Work was quiet, no Zero or Red sightings to speak of, but the villains were meeting up with him nearly every night. If they weren't getting ramen, then they were bingeing old TV shows in Izuku's apartment.
Izuku wasn't sure when the shift had happened; maybe it was when he declared he was going to save them, maybe it was when Uraraka discovered them in his apartment, the when wasn't important. Suddenly, it was hard to go a full day without seeing or at least talking to them. He'd gotten attached without realizing it, and when it finally hit him, anxiety rolled in his gut.
What they were doing was dangerous, for all of them. They'd all said it more than once, and all agreed that they didn't care, but it was hitting Izuku hard as he grew more and more dependent on the two villains. Everything was getting too real, and lines grew too blurred. The difference between right and wrong was hazier with each passing day.
Especially on days like today, when Izuku woke up in his bed after a long night of patrol, Eijirou passed out on his left, and Katsuki scrolling through his phone on the right.
Izuku let out a quiet groan as he pried the redhead's arm off him (he was a cuddle monster when he slept) and scooted closer to Katsuki until his head rested on the other man's shoulder. "Don't you two have your own house? Why do you always end up in my bed?" he teased, cut off by a yawn as his eyes threatened to drift closed again. It was a lighthearted joke, but the question still stood. Izuku had gone to sleep by himself last night, only to wake up with the villains in his bed.
"Ei wanted to check on you," Katsuki said in a low voice. Just from the tone, Izuku could tell he hadn't woken up much earlier than the hero. "Then he started bitching about how tired he was and that there was no point going back home when we'd just end up here in the morning anyway."
Izuku hummed, knowing that was exactly something the redhead would do. "At what point do I start being concerned about you two getting into my locked apartment without a key?"
Katsuki let out a small laugh at the question, keeping his voice down for the still-sleeping man on the other side of Izuku. "Been picking locks since we were sixteen, yours is a cakewalk."
"Note to self: get better locks," Izuku mumbled, debating going back to sleep against the blond.
"Oi, open your eyes. It's already ten," Katsuki scolded in a gentle manner, something Izuku was still getting used to from him. He'd never known the other man to do anything gently, yet there he was, scolding Izuku in the softest voice he could manage.
Izuku buried his head further between Katsuki's shoulder and the pillow underneath him. "Don't gotta be at the agency 'til four, Kacchan. I can sleep longer." He didn't even care how whiny he sounded.
"Fine," came the huffed response. "Guess you don't care that your phone's been going off like crazy for the past ten minutes."
"Shit!" Izuku exclaimed, sitting up in a flash and reaching over Katsuki for his phone. "Why didn't you say that earlier?"
Eijirou woke up with a start, his red eyes blinking as he looked around the room for any sign of danger. When he concluded that it was just Izuku causing a fuss, he fell back against the pillows with a yawn. "What's going on? It's too early for yelling, guys."
"Fuck, fuck, fuck," Izuku hissed as he scrambled for the end of his bed, phone in hand. At least four different people had tried to get a hold of him while he was asleep. There was a villain attack at a local mall, and they were having trouble apprehending the suspect.
"What's going on, Iz?" Eijirou asked, propping himself up on an elbow with a concerned look on his face, watching the frantic hero scramble around his room for his discarded hero suit.
"Villain attack," he stated simply. He threw on his costume, too rushed to bother with his near nudity in front of the other two. "I gotta go. You two can stay or leave. I don't care, but I'll text you after!" he called as he rushed from his room.
"Be careful, little hero!" Eijirou shouted after him.
"Your shoes are on the wrong feet, idiot!" was Katsuki's form of farewell.
"Fuck!" Izuku shouted, kicking his shoes off and putting them on the right feet in record time, lacing them up, and shooting out of his apartment like a bullet.

"Shoto!" Izuku shouted once he arrived on scene. He'd spotted the fire and ice user easily, dropping down next to him and taking in the sight of a half-crumbled shopping mall. The villain in question seemed to have a gigantification quirk similar to Mt. Lady's, causing his size to rapidly grow and shrink in seconds.
"Where the hell have you been?" Todoroki shouted over his shoulder, not letting his eyes leave the scene for a second. There was already a handful of heroes present, going at the villain with everything they had.
Izuku's lips twisted in a scowl at the question. "Sleeping. I didn't get off 'til five last night, you know."
"With your ringer off?!"
"Bitch me out after I save your ass, okay?" Izuku snapped, still not fully awake. He'd been up for less than twenty minutes, cut him some slack.
Todoroki glanced back for a moment, his heterochromatic eyes narrowing at the sight of him. "You were with Bakugou." It wasn't a question.
"Doesn't matter who I was with, just tell me what you know about this guy."
"Fine."

The fight was more taxing than Izuku had originally thought it would be. He shouldn't have been surprised, seeing as numerous pros had already been struggling for nearly an hour to take him down before Izuku even arrived. Still, he didn't appreciate the ache in his bones after the villain was finally apprehended.
Before he got swarmed by coworkers and reporters, he pulled out his phone and sent a quick text to Eijirou, remembering that he'd promised to do so before he'd left that morning.
Still alive :)
He couldn't help the smile that took over when a text came back, not even a minute later. He hadn't even been able to put his phone away before it was beeping.

Youre hot when youre kicking ass ;)
"Come on," Todoroki's voice next to Izuku knocked him out of his little bubble.
He slipped his phone back in his pocket, hoping that the speed of it wasn't suspicious. From the slight frown the other hero wore, he knew it had been extremely suspicious.
"Uravity and Froppy have search and recovery covered," he continued, choosing to ignore Izuku's faint blush. "We have to get back to the agency and start on the reports. Iida wants them as soon as possible."
"What's with the big rush?" Izuku asked as he followed after Todoroki toward their agency building. Thankfully, it wasn't that far from the scene of the crime. Walking would attract unwanted attention, but that was the price you paid to be a famous hero.
"We have reason to believe this guy is connected to a larger group," Todoroki said bluntly, eyes flashing to Izuku for a moment before returning to the road in front of them. "Which you would know if you had checked any of our messages."
Izuku bristled at the dig, shooting daggers at the side of Todoroki's face. "I was asleep, Sho. I know it's hard to remember, but I am human. I need sleep."
"I know that," the other hero snapped, taking a deep breath through his nose to calm himself. "I'm not mad that you were asleep, I know you need it. I just... this kind of thing never happened before you started hanging around Bakugou and that other guy. Now you're missing work and showing up to fights late and unprepared. I'm just worried, Izuku."
"They have nothing to do with it," Izuku said with a huff, even though it was a blatant lie. Even if the two villains weren't the direct cause for him missing work and being late to the fight, they were still the reason he was sleeping more than he had in years. Todoroki didn't need to know that, though. "I just finally realized how much I've been overworking myself, and I'm trying to relax more."
Todoroki's eyes bore into him as they walked, searching for any sign of a lie. Izuku was a notoriously bad liar, when it came to anything other than his wellbeing. When the taller hero deemed him to be telling the truth, he nodded once. "Well, I'm glad you're finally relaxing. You were really starting to worry us."
Izuku wanted to snap back that he was doing just fine before, and they had no reason to worry, but then he remembered passing out at the ramen shop. Maybe his behavior really had started to reach concerning levels before Katsuki and Eijirou came along.
"Izuku?"
The sound of his name brought him back from his thoughts. He hummed in response, looking over to see what Todoroki wanted.
"You know you can talk to me, right?" the taller asked, sounding unsure of himself. It was strange for Izuku to see the normally confident and aloof man look uncertain. "If something's bothering you, I'm here to listen."
"I know, Sho. I'm fine, though. Promise."
Todoroki nodded again just as their agency building came into view down the road. "Bakugou and his friend, they're... nice?"
"Yes," Izuku said firmly, wanting nothing more than to reach their home base and split up to do their respective paperwork. He didn't like where this conversation was heading.
"I only ask because I remember how Bakugou was back in school," Todoroki explained in his usual monotone voice. Izuku could tell it was forced at that moment, like the other man was holding back his real emotions on the subject, more so than usual. "Especially with you."
"You, of all people, should know how much someone can grow from high school," Izuku said and instantly regretted it. The two of them never brought up their relationship from school or the fallout. It was an unspoken rule between the two of them, yet Izuku had just thrown it in Todoroki's face. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean-"
"It's fine, Izuku," Todoroki said with a sigh, pulling the front door of the agency open and holding it for the other hero to hurry through. "That was deserved."
"You know I don't hold a grudge against you for any of that, right?" Izuku asked in a hushed voice as they maneuvered around people working in the office. "I know how hard you worked to get past it and how much you've grown since then."
"I hurt you," Todoroki said simply, shrugging one shoulder as they reached Izuku's desk and paused. "You should hold a grudge. The fact you don't just proves how much I never deserved you."
"Don't say that, Shoto," Izuku sighed, rubbing at the back of his neck awkwardly. They were twenty-five now, and in the past eight years since they'd broken up, this was the most they'd ever talked about their relationship. "You were just a kid, one who went through so much trauma. You can't blame yourself for that. Besides, I was hurting myself every day back then, too."
"That only makes it worse. As your boyfriend, I should have been taking care of you, not..." he trailed off and shook his head. "I need to fill out a report; I'll find you at eight for our patrol."
"Wait!" Izuku called as he started to walk away. "I thought we started at six?"
"It got pushed back because of the attack," Todoroki explained. "Management wanted us to have a chance to rest before we were back on the streets."
"Makes sense," he mumbled to himself, turning back to his work. "I'll see you at eight, then."
Kind of a boring chapter, sorry. It was pretty much just filler lolz.
