Chapter 9: A debt
The six members of silenthand hand that had decided to join the imperial army had just arrived at the castle. When they did they saw two female figures standing in front of the door.
One with long blue hair and blue eyes that matched and the other with short black hair and red eyes. "These are the friends that I told you about," Zenlu said looking at them.
"You said that there were seven of them yet you only brought back five," Esdeath said looking at the male.
"Oh they . . . they didn't take my offer they're still out there somewhere," Zenlu said looking at her. Esdeath sighed hearing this and looked at the six figures in front of her.
"Alright well I'm Esdeath and at the moment I am your superior and you will listen to me. My friend here is Kurome and she is part of the Jaegars. Now I know that the two that didn't join used to be your friends but there is the chance that you'll meet them on the battlefield and when you do I want you to come at them with the intent to kill. Am I clear?" Esdeath asked looking at them.
When she asked this several of the figures in front of her nodded and she smiled. "Good now we're a bit short on rooms so some of you will have to share rooms. You all can decide who shares a room with who I personally don't care," Esdeath said as she walked away.
"I don't mind sharing a room," Scerea said looking at the figures in front of her. When she said this none of the figures offered to take her up on her offer. After a brief moment of silence Shade sighed and looked at her.
"Since no one else will take you up on your offer looks like it's you and me," Shade said looking at her.
"Okay well I guess I wouldn't mind sharing a room then," Ryuu said looking at the four figures in front of him.
"Get so it's settled it'll be Scerea and Shade sharing a room and Ryuu and Senna sharing a room," Zenlu said looking at them.
"Why me?" Senna asked looking at the male in front of her.
"I've already got a room and I don't think that putting Ryuu and Silver in the same room together is a good idea," the brown haired male said as he walked down the hall.
As they did the short female from before stepped in front of them and looked at Zenlu. "Don't forget our agreement now Zenlu," Kurome said looking at him.
"I won't," Zenlu said as he walked past her.
"What agreement?" Senna asked looking at Zenlu.
"Well it's actually because of Kurome that I'm still alive. If she hadn't interfered because of a few different components the I don't think I'd be here. She conveniences Esdeath to give us this position. In return she wanted information on someone named Akame," Zenlu said looking at them.
"So gave her information that you had?" Silver asked looking at him.
"Yeah, it wasn't very much information but I gave her what I know for my release and then gave me this job position if I promised to help her track down Akame so she could kill her," Zenlu said looking at them.
"So we probably won't get to see that much then?" Ryuu asked looking at the male in front of him.
"No we'll all still be together but I just won't be able to spend the mornings with you. That's when me and Kurome are going to go over the little bit of information that we have on Akame and her friends. This also includes Zero, and Jason so it may be most of my morning," Zenlu said looking at his friends.
They then came to a hall and Zenlu looked at them. "Well Senna and Ryuu your room is on the left just across from mine, Silver your room is next to mine and Scerea and Shade your room is across from Silver's," Zenlu said looking at them.
They each nodded and went into their rooms all except for Senna and Scerea. "Hey Scerea can I talk to you for a minute?" Senna asked looking at the redheaded female.
"Sure thing," Scerea said looking at blue haired female. The two then walked down the hallway and Senna looked at Scerea.
"Look Scerea the truth is that I am really against my brother staying in a room with you." Senna said looking at her.
"Oh so that what this is about. Look Senna I know I flirt with guys a lot and from time to time go as far as to get sexual with a guy but I wouldn't do that to Shade. I don't want it to put a bigger stress on our already strained relationship," Scerea said looking at her.
"Well that's not exactly what I meant. I was going to say it's alright to get that way around him because I know how you are. It's just if you do get that way around him just . . . don't force him to do anything he's not comfortable with," Senna said looking at her.
"O-oh well if you're sure it's okay then yeah I promise I won't have him do anything he doesn't want to," Scerea said looking at her.
"Okay good well I then I wish you luck," Senna said as she walked away.
The redheaded female nodded at this and walked into the room that her and Shade were sharing. When she did she saw that there was only one bed and that Shade was already asleep in it.
She walked over to him and noticed that he had left a small space open for her to sleep. Who knows it might just be easy for her to seduce him after all. After all the remaining members of silenthand had went to bed. The leader sighed and walked outside.
Zenlu looked up at the sky and sighed. The lights from the palace made it hard to see the stars in the sky. "What's wrong?" He heard a familiar female voice behind him say.
Zenlu looked behind him and saw none other than Kurome standing there. "In a nutshell it's my friends," Zenlu said as he once again averted his head to the sky.
"What about them?" Kurome asked looking at him.
"Actually I think I should say my former friends Zero and Jason," Zenlu said looking at the sky.
"You don't know if your friends can kill them?" Kurome asked sitting down next to him.
"It's not that I know if they can kill them I don't them most of them will kill them. We've all been at this for a little bit now and have gotten to really know each other over the years," Zenlu said looking at her.
"What about them? Do you think Zero and Jason will kill them?" Kurome asked looking at Zenlu.
"I can honestly see Zero trying to kill Shade but in the end I don't think he'd go through with it," Zenlu said looking up at the sky.
"Why's that?" Kurome asked looking at him.
"Those two always argued and fought when they were on the same team but each of them never went as far as to attack the other without a reason. The reason I don't think Zero would kill Shade is because it's their rivalry that pushes him to become stronger." Zenlu said looking at Kurome.
"I don't think I understand," Kurome said looking at him.
"Well Zero doesn't like the thought of losing to Shade. Now take shade out of the picture. Who's he going to have to push him to be better than what he already is, who's going to be the one to push him down when he's up. The same could be said with Shade. The reason those two haven't already tried to destroy each other yet is because they don't want the other to die before them." Zenlu said looking at Kurome.
"Okay I think I understand now," Kurome said looking at him. "Hey Zenlu have you ever thought about what you're going to do when this is all over?" Kurome asked looking at him.
"I had never honestly thought about it. You sort of remind me of Zero asking questions like that. He was always asking what he should do when he finally quit killing peolpe because he wasn't sure about what he should be doing," Zenlu said looking at her.
"Why not? Surely he must have some idea of what he wants to do when he stops trying to kill peolpe," Kurome said looking at him.
"That's the problem he can't imagine himself doing something other than killing people. It's what he was trained to do ever since he was born. He doesn't know how to do anything else beside kill people. That's why he's always asking about what he should do," Zenlu said looking at Kurome.
"So he's like me?" Kurome asked looking at Zenlu.
"I guess but for a different reason. You see those mountains over there?" Zenlu asked pointing at the tall rocks in the distance.
"Yeah why?" Kurome asked looking at him.
"On that moutain is a small group of monks that's were me and Zero met each other," Zenlu said looking at Kurome.
"Okay so you two grew up together?" Kurome asked looking at the male in front of her.
"Something like that. These monks aren't your typical everyday monks they have different customs and different ways of thinking. When I was four I was orphaned and taken into this organization that they had. It trained kids to be killers and everything we did was quick and effective." Zenlu said looking at Kurome.
"So Zero was also ophaned?" Kurome asked looking at him.
"Who knows? The teacher we had said that he was special and that he was born for this job. So I'm not sure," Zenlu said looking at Kurome.
"Well I've thought about what I want to do after I stop killing. I'd like to spend some time trying to adjust to normal life then just take things from there," Kurome said looking at Zenlu. "Would you mind helping me with that?" Kurome asked looking at Zenlu.
"Well I don't see anything wrong with it," Zenlu said looking at her. Kurome let a slight smile slip through at this and looked at the sky. The two sat there for several hours until Zenlu felt a head hit his shoulder causing him to tense up.
When he looked over he saw that Kurome had already went to sleep. 'I guess I shouldn't be surprised Esdeath has her doing the most work out of all the Jaegars,' Zenlu thought as he looked at her.
However her head then once again fell down when it did Zenlu caught her head and slowly moved his hand down so he could pick her up. When he did he slowly walked to her room and placed her on the bed.
He looked at her for a second before stange thought passed theough his head. 'A little strange but she actually looks kind of cute when she's sleeping,' Zenlu thought looking at the female on the bed in front of him.
'I should probably keep thoughts like that to myself from now on,' Zenlu thought as he shut the door behind him.
