46 » the time heals
Note: to those who don't know, Yoon Eunrae is female lead from my Jimin fanfiction, House of Flowers. I love her so much, so you'll probably see her around a lot.
Here's the most requested scene by readers; what happens to Jimin and Chaerin after Taehyung's death.
🌠
❝ I can't show you a ruined part of myself. Once again I'll put a mask and go to see you. ❞
— THE TRUTH UNTOLD, BTS.
🌠
Many things could happen in the span of two years.
For instance, Yoongi and his favourite boy, Jeongguk have finally made their dream of opening a lamb skewer restaurant together came true. Chaerin, her parents ended up forcing her to be their successor, after a whole day of being given life lessons by her mother.
Even after what had happened, her mother was still against her relationship with Taehyung and basically threw innuendos at the couple but she could care less, her life was pretty much fucked not having Taehyung around, might as well let her mother said whatever could satisfy her. Besides, she spent more time with Taehyung's family rather than her own. She loved being around with anything that would remind her of Taehyung. Fortunately, Taehyung's mother always welcome her with open arms and they would support each other whenever one felt down.
As for Jimin, he's probably the reason why Chaerin went to Yoongi and Jeongguk's lamb skewer restaurant today, waiting in some corner while twirling her hair, staring at the minimalist decorations on the shop.
After two years, Jimin finally had the courage to send a text message to Chaerin.
After two years, they're finally seeing each other again.
To talk about Jimin's marriage.
The bell chimed, and when the sound of footsteps got closer to her, Chaerin snapped her head up just to see her long lost friend sitting across from her, draped in his casual attire.
"It's been a long time, Jimin," Chaerin initiated a conversation first, and that caught him off guard. After everything, Jimin never thought he would be able to face Chaerin again. To his surprise, she acted as if they were just long time friends with no history.
"Y—Yeah, it had been long indeed," he cleared his throat, trying to compose himself.
"So who's the lucky lady? I was honestly very shocked when I read your text message. After two years not contacting each other, the first message I got from you was about you marrying someone. And oh! I found it so cute how you stutter on a text message." She teased as a smirk making its way to her face, and then it burst into small laughter.
Jimin's face was fumed with embarrassment. But he missed this.
He missed the way she laughs, he missed hearing her talking, he missed her voice, he missed her as a whole.
"W—Well, I just—," Jimin heaved a loud sigh, "Ugh, you know." His gaze fell down to the table, fingers fiddling on his lap.
Chaerin smiled, understanding what he meant. "Don't be that gloomy, Jiminnie. You are about to marry to marry the love of your life in a few days, you should be happy. This is not a chance everyone has."
Because I lost mine.
"I—I'm," his pupils dilated, what Chaerin said hit him like storm. "I'm sorry, Chaerin. And thank you so much." That nickname, it was very special for him. It's different if it's Chaerin you called him that.
Chaerin nodded. "Jimin, do you love her?"
Silence. Hesitation.
"I do."
"Then take care of her, be nice to her and love her as if she's your whole world."
Lies. It was an arranged marriage; one that would be done without feelings. But at least this way, he could escape. This marriage would end everything, once he's married, then it's a goodbye his past feelings; the feelings that he felt towards Chaerin. It's the end.
A crafted smile dawned on his feature, "I will."
"Okay maybe it would be nice if you guys order something because this is certainly definitely a restaurant and we do business here. And business means money." Yoongi came in, single handedly ruining (saving) the day.
🌠
The wedding day finally came.
To say he was nervous would be an understatement, because hell, he wished he would just disappear into the thin air or melt onto the ground.
He was walking back and forth in the almost full hall, holding his chin while doing so.
"Seriously? Is that your job? Walking back and forth on your wedding day?" A sound of giggle emitted from his back.
And here she's, the love of his life, Kwon Chaerin.
He finally stopped. "Oh, hi, Chaerin," he said, waving slightly at her.
"Are you really that nervous? Where's Eunrae?" She looked to the left and right while taking a step closer to him.
"She's still preparing. The ceremony will probably begin in a few."
"That's great."
Chaerin looked very beautiful on his wedding day, and he didn't appreciate the fact that how her appearance could take a huge toll on him. He's suddenly an emotional mess, feeling young again.
His love towards her was very unconditional, never felt out of love, the spark was always there, and he knew better than anyone else that he would always have a special feeling for Chaerin.
"Many things changed after two years, but you are still you, Chaerin."
A lot happened within two years but my feelings remained the same, from two years ago, and years before.
Chaerin quirked an eyebrow. "Oh? Is that a compliment? Should I be thankful for that?"
"It probably is. Depends on your interpretation." A smile laced his lips,
"Then I would take that as one. Well, you better get going and do some last touch up, I will be around if you need anything. But well, since I'm currently a guest, might as well enjoy the treatments that I deserve." She winked.
Jimin laughed. "Alright, enjoy yourself, Chaerin."
"Today is your day, that's why be happy, Jimin-ah. I love you! Always take care."
And there goes his heart. Jimin might have cursed himself a bit for almost having a breakdown right here, right now.
"I love you too, Chaerin-ah. You too take care and be happy." When Jimin said that, he really meant it. With the utmost sincerity he could ever muster in a tone.
Although he knew the I love yous had difference, he didn't mind it anymore. He's fine with this. Today was his day, like what she said. He's going to move on to a new chapter, a new life with his soon-to-be wife.
The idea of having a marriage without love terrifed him.
Just like that, he let the love of his life slip like that, watching as her body spun around towards the buffet.
He wanted to hug her, so so tight that she wouldn't go, he wanted her to stay and shower her with love.
But when his fingertip almost reached out to her, he hesitantly retracted it.
And that's it.
Love starts and ends with you, Chaerin.
