❝ I hope my damn self disappears. ❞
― Agust D, So Far Away

She loved rain, but not when it came down in unexpected moments.
Grunting while waiting for the lift to came from upper floors, she hugged herself in an attempt to raise her body temperature. The air conditioned room did not do any help.
As the beep sound could be heard, followed by doors sliding open, she rushed inside the lift and rested her body against the wall, still shivering although the temperature was higher than outside. She checked the time on her cellphone. 22:50. That only meant she would get hours of lecture from Jimin. And that was a trait he and Taehyung have: both would always scold Chaerin whenever she was acting recklessly.
Reaching her floor, she quickly came out from the lift and walked through the poorly lighted corridors. The path to her apartment seemed to be so far when she has to walk through it at night, because it was so creepy.
Water created a track and her footprints were muddy, leaving stains on the ceramic floor which she had taken a note to clean later.
Her smile grew wider when her apartment door came to her sight. But it faltered when she saw a figure standing right in front of the unit, staring down at the floor like as if he was being punished for breaking the school rules.
Chaerin rubbed her eyes to clear her vision and tucked a few strands of her wet hair behind her ear before shifting her gaze to the guy again. And that was when she realized something.
Her jaw dropped, her hands and legs were shaking so much, the amount of shock that she was having froze her in her state, not because of the cold temperature, but because of the sight that she had just witnessed. Her shopping bags all fell onto the floor, causing a pretty loud noise that caught the man's attention.
But he was just not any man ― standing only a few metres away from her was her supposedly dead boyfriend ― Kim Taehyung.
They exchanged gaze, after what seemed like forever ― she could not believe it. The way his enlarged brown eyes gazed back at her pair, how his pupils were shaking, how his chest would be pumped each time he took a breath.
Everything looked so surreal, yet alive.
He was there. Breathing, in the same air as her. And they were only
"T― Tae? You a― are still a― alive?" She stammered, pointing a finger at Taehyung, still in disbelief.
The clock ticked, 23:00.
Taehyung did not say anything and moved a few steps backward. One step, two step, three step, and he ran away from her, again.
Without caring about her belongings, Chaerin rushed to Taehyung. She was not letting him go again. Even it was not the Taehyung, even if he was now a ghost, or any creature he could be, she did not care. She was not going to say I love you nor I miss you either. She just wanted to take him to her embrace and hug him. That's all.
Going down the emergency stairs, the chase continued until they reached the exit. "Taehyung! Wait!" But he kept running. The gaps between them were restoring again, slowly but surely.
The clock ticked, 23:07.
Seven minutes passed and they were now taking the chasing game to a bigger scale; amidst of the night life. She had lost track of him, and lost in the sea of people, lost in the middle of flashing neon lights coming from the buildings.
The clock ticked, drizzle became downpour.
"Taehyung!" She helplessly yelled as she walked on the pavement, not sure if it was tears that flowed down to her cheeks or the rain.
All she cared was how to find Taehyung.
Meanwhile Taehyung, he was running as if being chased by a monster, running aimlessly while glancing back once in a while to see if Chaerin was somewhere in his sight.
Kim Taehyung wished he could just disappear and ended everything.
Kim Taehyung... he was an enigma, gifted with many talents despite having disabilities. The stars loved him so much that they had just to grant his wish.
Headlights coming from his right side, flaring like two burning stars with a screeching sound was coming his way. The shooting stars came in a form a vehicle, ready to make him as one of their friends.
"Taehyung! No!" He had sudden flashbacks of that one particular day, when he almost lost the love of his life.
And Kim Taehyung was ready to be that star who would listen to people's wishes, although he himself still had one wish that had yet to be fulfilled. And that one wish was to call Chaerin's name, clearly each syllable.
But maybe, that would never happen.
Be careful with what you wish for.
