KWON CHAERIN.
Droplets of water trickled down the glasses window. Behind it was a scene of people running with a bag or newspaper, splashing the puddles that the rain caused, struggling to find a shelter.
Heaving a sigh, I placed my head on the counter, blowing my bangs up out of sheer boredom. The cafe didn't have any customer right now; it was completely empty. So here I was, lazily sitting at the counter, waiting someone to come.
I wished that I could maybe take a nap or something, but my employer over here didn't let me take the brief nap I desired. Yoongi kept rapping while cleaning the coffee set and it's getting annoying as the time passed.
Rolling my eyes, I complained, "Yoongi, I swear if you don't stop my ears can be ruptured." Actually, he was a good rapper but the lyrics he's singing to completely annoying me. It was basically filled with self praise like 'Yoongi is a genius' and everything else along that line. The main point was; self-praising.
"Why? Don't you like my voice? I'm indeed awesome, right?" He questioned me back while placing the coffee sets into the shelf. Nodding with an approving smile on his face for the hard work he had done.
"Well, I hate to admit this but you are. That's it if you change the lyrics because I'm honestly getting sick of it." Although he was practically my boss, I never treated him like one because it would be really weird to use formal language while speaking to this person. At first few days, I was reluctant and always used formal words to speak, but that didn't last so long because soon his real extra side was exposed.
He smirked. "See?! Even your conscience admit it. Just be grateful because you have a wonderful boss, Chaerin. In about ten years or so, you'll have to pay a whole island just to meet me." He confidently retorted while I just did a habit that I had adopted ever since working for him; rolling my eyes and shaking my head. I adore his confidence but sometimes it was just too much, however, he was indeed kind. I saw him more like a friend than a boss.
"But before that happens, do something about this cafe first; it's getting less visitors nowadays. What will you do regarding this matter?" I asked, actually more like a reminder.
"Everything is going to be okay. Chaerin, do you know that this cafe is actually just a stepping stone before I open a business in a bigger scale? This is actually just to kill time and at least I have income every month. I'm currently waiting for my busan mate to graduate from his high school and open a restaurant. Just wait until my debut as a successful businessman came!" Yoongi exclaimed and did a shooting gesture at me.
Again, I rolled my eyes the umpth time today. Who knows if my eyes would drop from its sockets if I continue working under him. "Well, not like I have other choice but to witness your growth anyway. Even if you close this cafe and open an extravagant restaurant, you'll beg me to work for you, right?" I questioned and he batted his eyelashes, the bottom of his lips jutted.
"Aww! I love you so much, thank you for understanding my beloved Chaerin. I enjoy working with you because you're not like those uncool people. You're pretty lit for a girl and I definitely like your style." He winked at me as chills sent down my spine.
"Do that once again and say goodbye to our contract," I spoke sternly but of course I didn't mean it at all. I, too, enjoy working with him because he's kind of cool.
"I know you don't mean it. Anyways, how's your man doing?" Yoongi asked as he went to the back, pouring a cup of tea for him.
I pondered for a while before answering, "He's fine, doing art commissions at home as usual. Anyways, who's this 'busan mate' you talked about?" I changed the topic immediately. Somehow, I missed Taehyung just by mentioning his name. I want to go home as soon as possible and spend the rest of the day with him. He must be lonely.
Yoongi dragged a chair and on the opposite side of me, stirring the tea spoon and blew the hot tea before taking a sip of it. "His name is Jeon Jeongguk and we made a commitment to open a lamb skewer restaurant together. He was a childhood friend, if you were curious," he answered before taking another sip.
I bobbed my head as a response. "Now that you told me that, I'm slightly curious about this Jeongguk person," I spoke as matter of fact.
Yoongi placed the tea cup on the counter table and cleared his throat. "You'll love him, honestly. He's just so talented and meticulous; a perfect person to work with. Don't worry, you'll eventually meet him one day," Yoongi explained, showing his gummy smile. My heart softened on how cute he was when he told me about his friend. I just love it when people treasure and pour some efforts into their friendship.
"You guys will make a great duo," I murmured and smiled to myself, surely my voice wasn't audible to him.
The bell rang, indicating someone came into the cafe. I stood up from my chair to check the new customer.
I wasn't sure, but from my own assumptions, that person was a he. It's hard to identify their gender because he donned a drenched black coat, hat, and mask. Black from head to toe. He walked to the counter but my eyes were focused to the floor, stains of mud and some unrecognizable plants scattered around, and his shoes were the cause of this mess.
I'll have to clean the floor later. . .
