Kankeros pov

I let out a yawn as I leaned against a nearby tree. What a relaxing little spot. Perfect for a nap-

"Should you really be resting at a time like this?" I was startled by my younger brother standing upside down on the branch above me.

"Geez gaara you almost gave me a heart attack!" I grasped my chest dramatically.

"My apologies" he hopped down in front of me "though in my defence if temari found you slacking off it would have been a lot worse"

"Fair point" I sighed "but it's been such a long journey. I'm surprised you aren't exhausted too"

"I'm more than used to not sleeping" he shrugged.

"Oh yeah" sometimes I forget gaara can't sleep. No wonder he was so cranky as a kid. If you consider mass murder cranky!

"Hey kankero. You better not be slacking off" I tensed up at my sister's voice.

"Slacking no never" I laughed nervously. Gaara snickered behind me. I gave him a shove before jumping down.

"Bout time" she poked my forehead in annoyance "get your head in the game kankero. This is no time to be goofing off. Why can't you be more level headed like gaara?"

"Cut me some slack temari " I sighed. Getting compared to my baby brother. It's so embarrassing.

"Remember why we're here" she said sternly "the sound village declared war on the sand and assassined our kazakage. Regardless of our feelings towards our our father we can't forgive this treason"

Gaaras eyes shifted uncomfortably. Not only did he put that monster in him and tried to kill him for something he did to him but he also mistreated him simply for being born an omega. I'll never forgive him for that.

"Does everyone understand the objective" she asked.

"Yes sister" me and gaara nodded.

"Right" she hit her fist into her palm with a grin "in four days we burn this village to the ground"
