Kankeros pov

We gathered around as the results were announced. I put my hands together in prayer. Come on. Let it be him.

"Our new kazakage is...gaara!"

"Alright!" I picked him up and spun him around "my baby brother's kazakage! I couldn't be prouder"

"Kankero you're embarrassing me" garra giggled against my chest. The four of us were happy for a moment until..

"This is an outrage!" The other candidate yelled "I refuse to accept this outcome!"

"Grr" I growled, ready to pummel that jerk when-

"Well it's a good thing it's not up to you" temari prodded him in the chest "you lost. Be a man and accept your defeat with what little dignity you have left"

"You'll pay for this" he growled before disappearing. We cheered as gaara was given the kazakage hat. Today was a good day.

*Time skip*

"Thanks for today puppy" I sat him down on the bed after a long day "you've been a great addition to the family. I can't help but be amazed by you every passing day" I petted his head and was about to leave when-

"I want to thank you too" I looked back in disbelief. Did he just speak?

He averted his eyes nervously "sorry. I haven't spoken in a long time. I've always been too scared to. Even now I'm a little scared but I trust you. I want to show you the real me if that's okay"

I stepped forward and gently cupped his face, pulling him into a kiss "I've never loved you more than I do right now" I whispered to him "Thank you for giving me such a beautiful gift puppy"

"You really mean it?" His eyes sparkled with an adorable smile.

"I do" I kissed his forehead tenderly "I love the sound of your voice"

"That's not true. My voice is horse and strained" he looked away shamefully.

I tilted his chin to make him look at me "that doesn't matter to me. I love it cause it's your voice"

A soft blush spread across his cheeks at my words. Slowly he leaned forward and captured my lips. I wrapped my arms around his waist, pulling him close. Today really was a good day, in more ways than one!
