Kankeros pov

"Are you sure we should be going out?" Kankero asked nervously as I dragged him around the village. I promised gaara I'd distract them and thankfully temari stepped out so I only have kankero to distract. "I should be watching gaara"

"Babe he's a grown man. He can handle being alone. In fact you should probably give him some space" I folded his arms sternly.

"I know" he sighed "It's just hard. Gaara's been through so much and I never did anything to help him when we were kids. I guess I want to make up for that" his eyes were so sad. I broke my heart a little.

"Kankero that wasn't your fault. You were a kid too" I placed a hand on his face "gaara knows how much you love him. You don't need to prove anything. Sometimes the best way to show your love is to stand back and let him find his own happiness"

"When did you get so smart" he smiled lovingly.

"Well we can't both be dumbasses in this relationship" I smirked.

"Hey!" He started tickling me. I giggled helplessly as everyone stared at us strangely. Killjoys!

"Ok for real" I wiped the tears away "Let's get this date started. I've got the perfect place"

*Time skip*

"A steakhouse?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Can you imagine anywhere better?" I hopped about excitedly.

"I can think of a few things but whatever you want puppy" he smiled in defeat. I took his hand and dragged him inside. It's there that we banged into-

"Hinata!" My face lit up at the sight of my friend. I looked down at her hand and gasped "oh my gosh you're on a date!"

"That's right" she nodded with a smile "you remember sakura right?"

"Sakura" I stared at the pink hair girl in disbelief. She looked so different now "wow I barely recognise you. You've changed so much"

"I hope that's a positive thing" she gave me a warning look.

"Of course" I laughed nervously. Was she always this scary?

Kankero placed a hand on my shoulder and gave the girls a smile "how would you like to join us for dinner"

"Really?" I looked up in disbelief. After all Kankero is kinda allergic to human contact.

"Of course. She's your friend right? You should get to spend some time with her" he gave my shoulders a reassuring squeeze.

"*Gasp* thank you thank you thank you!" I hugged him before grabbing hinata's hand "come on, let's find a seat!"

*Time skip*

"And that's how we met" I cuddled into his side.

"That's so romantic" hinata gushed "thank god he found you kiba. It scares me to think what would have happened to you if he didn't"

"Our meet cue was a lot less interesting" sakura looked at her lovingly "I was walking through the park, looking for sasuke the boy I had a crush on when the cutest girl fell into my arms"

"We never talked in class so tripping into her wasn't the best introduction" she blushed slightly "I felt so bad that I insisted on buying her a drink and well one thing led to another"

"I'm so happy for you hinata" I raised my drinks "here's to more awesome double dates"

"We better. I'm not letting you go that easy" she winked at me before we clinked glasses.
