Chapt. 13 ~ Mixed Signals Or Communication?
You're nothing
Worthless
Why not just die already?
You're not wanted
You were never loved
Kill yourself
Mute slowly opened her eyes as her thoughts interrupted her slumber. She found herself alone in the same bedroom that she had slept in, but Sebastian was nowhere to be seen in the room. The clothes that she wore were still on her and a blanket was kept over her to keep her warm. With some of the light peeking through the unopened curtains she could tell it was morning.
Mute held her head to calm her nerves followed by a groan. She needed to be up anyway. Her thoughts were becoming too much for her again. 'What am I doing?...' She groaned again. 'Is he going to keep me here?'
The door to the bedroom door revealed Sebastian. "My Young Master would like to meet you. If you would follow me."
'Do I even have a choice?' She wondered but obeyed anyway. Mute got off the bed and followed Sebastian out of the room. He led her to the dining room where Ciel was eating breakfast. 'Do I have to answer to a child? I could just leave.' Mute eyed the boy as she was walking up beside him.
Ciel glanced at the young beautiful woman before speaking, "Remind me again what she is, Sebastian." He ordered.
"Of course. She is a Fallen Angel but one of the rarest kind. Fallen Angels are rejected out of heaven for unforgivable sins. Naturally they tempt humans into sin. However, her kind are different from many others. They are full of surprises and mysteries, and we have yet to know what she is capable of just as I said." Sebastian described Mute but leaving out a few details. He didn't want to give all of her away. At least not yet.
Mute remained silent as she continued to stare at the boy. She also had a few questions in mind the more she looked at Ciel. Why is he so small?
Why is he wearing an eyepatch?
Has he always been this much of a brat?
She didn't know which thought to come up with first. All she could do was stare. But quickly she let it go seeing how she isn't that interested to know about some rich kid. "So she doesn't have any sort of purpose? She's just here?"
"Most likely, Milord."
Mute snapped out of her trance when hearing the two males exchange words. "You don't expect me to consider her as a maid, do you?" Ciel glanced at Sebastian, almost as if he was glaring.
'As if.' Mute raised her hand and a shadow wrapped around Ciel's neck. It startled him, causing Sebastian to grab Mute by the back of her neck. Mute yelped and shut her eyes.
"She isn't doing anything, Sebastian." Ciel said calmly. Sebastian looked back at his Master and saw that the shadow Mute cast on him was still there but not doing anything. No movement. It almost as if it was a tattoo.
"What have you done?" Sebastian glares at Mute.
"She isn't doing anything." Ciel added. Mute lowered her hand and the shadow on Ciel's neck had vanished. Sebastian released his grip on the girl as Mute rubbed the back of her neck to comfort it.
"My apologies, Milady... You were showing my Master your abilities and I mistook it as a threat. Please forgive me." Sebastian bowed his head. Mute could only roll her eyes. She didn't care about his damn apology.
''These two are nuts. What the hell. Why am I here again?' She cursed in her head sighing to herself. 'Like I said, I could leave but...' Mute glanced at Sebastian before a blush creeped onto her mind but shut her eyes.
"Are you alright, Milady? My apologies. I must have been too rough with you... Do forgive me." Sebastian frowned as he sounded sincere with his apology. "Milord, allow me to tend to her injuries if you would." He turned to his master with his hand over his chest.
"Fine." Ciel allowed it.
Sebastian gently grabbed Mute's wrist and led her back to his bedroom. Mute blinked at his sudden change of behavior. Rushing to his room, Sebastian closed the door behind him and held Mute close to his chest with her back facing him. Mute blushed at his tense grip. She could feel his hot breath on the back of her neck.
'What is he doing?!' She began to panic, but at the same time... She didn't want to leave his arms. Mute closed her eyes and let herself sink into this feeling just this once. 'There was a time I felt like this before... When somebody was holding me just like this... I missed that feeling. Why do I fear of having it again?... What was that reason for it again?'
Suddenly Mute's eyes opened when she felt lips on the back of her neck. It sent shivers down her spine as her cheeks turned red. She gasped in surprise and began to squirm, trying to get out of his hold. Mute couldn't help but groan as she closed her eyes again.
Sebastian chuckled in satisfaction. "My sweet Fallen Angel~" He whispered in her ear. Another shiver crawled down her spine. "Can I trust you to be good and wait for me here?" He coed. Mute remained silent, not wanting to answer his question. "A muted angel at that." He muttered before releasing the girl and leaving the room.
After the door had closed Mute held her chest as she stay stilled in place. She was frozen in place as if she were too scared to move.
"You little fucking slut."
Snap.
Mute's thumb began to bleed as she bit her nail off a bit too close to the skin. 'I remember.... That's why...' She sighed. 'I don't want to go through that again... Not again...' Her low breathing came out shaky. After a few moments she had calmed herself down before her body disappeared into a shadowy mist.
Mute appeared in an alley way of the streets of London with her back against the wall. Feeling the cool air and having it brush against her skin relaxed her eyes. She opened her eyes and looked up at the party cloudy skies. Her eyelids were half open. As if she could fall asleep at any given moment.
"Mute?" She felt somebody's hand rest on the top of her head, causing Mute to open her eyes. In front of her was Miko with a worried expression. "Are you alright?"
'Miko...' Mute lightly smiled when seeing her friend.
"What are you doing out here? Come on. Let's go home. My meeting with Randall can wait another time." Miko had Mute lean on her as the two walked home. "By the way, have you noticed a lot of foreigners lately? I wonder what is happening today with the world."
Mute closed her eyes as she held her head on the way back home. 'I shouldn't tell her... I can't get her involved... This is my own mess.'
The night had arrived rather quickly. Miko and Mute had spent the rest of the afternoon together, checking up on one another. When it was getting late, Miko retired for bed while Mute stayed up in her room. She lied down in her bed as she stared up at the ceiling of her room.
Her mind had wandered off as she remained quiet as a mouse. But she knew she had to go back to Sebastian at some point. She couldn't resist. Even if she wanted to stop herself. The possibilities that were going through her head.
The next morning Mute returned to Sebastian's room. She wasn't sure if Sebastian had noticed that she had been gone. But at the same time, she didn't care. She looked around to find the bedroom empty. 'Not here?'
The door opened, causing Mute to turn around. Sebastian blinked in surprise when seeing Mute in his bedroom. He thought she had run away again, and they would have to start the game of cat and mouse all over again. "Wandering around I assume?" He questioned with a smirk.
He closed the door and walked over to her. When he was close enough, Mute raised her hand up to his forehead. Sebastian's eyes widened as something zapped him, causing him to step in his tracks.
"What are you after?"
He heard her voice. But her lips didn't move. He heard her thoughts.
