POV Kristoff
Anna is staring at the odd shaped stone which Pabbi gave us. The color of it is white with crystal clear places here and there, the shape reminds me of a heart.
"What do you think that he meant by that we need this pebble against the oh so feared Jack Frost," Anna exhaled and lifted the stone up towards the sun which made the crystals to shimmer.
I was about to tell her that I had no idea when she suddenly laughed.
"I mean c'mon, we throw this at his head?" Anna giggled.
"Possible yeah," I shrugged. Then I heard the sound of a stream.
"Hey! We must be close to the place where we're supposed to find Kenai!" Anna cheered.
I touch my waist where the pouch is hanging. Pabbi told us to bring a snack to Kenai. Sometimes they just tell stuff and leave the rest into a mystery which is tough to handle.
Suddenly Sven runs in front of us, stopping us. He keeps glancing back and forth to the small forest area.
"What's the matter?" I ask from him while I place my hand on Anna's shoulder.
Sven keeps staring at the dark forest patch. We can just hear the waves of the stream.
"Stop it you two, there's nothing to worry about," Anna laughed and threw my hand down.
I flinched when something run towards her from the middle of the forest. It growled and sat in front of him.
"Awww! Look a cute little bear!" Anna squealed and petted the bear.
Sven was shivering behind me. Then I knew that the little bear wasn't the thing he was so afraid of. Anna fell to her butt when a large bear stomped from the forest. Its fur was wet so it probably had been at the stream. It growled at us and the little one went behind the bigger one.
"Do something Kristoff!" Anna exhaled and hid behind me with Sven.
"Uh, thanks for the support... both of you," I muttered.
"Okay, bears, we really should find Kenai so... don't mind us," Anna laughed nervously and nodded to our left where she wished us to go.
The bear let out a curious sound and all the aggression it had vanished. It began walking towards the stream with the little one and it was like it wanted us to follow it.
"Uh.. let's use the opportunity and escape--," I whispered to Anna but as usual she just rushed after the big and little bear.
I facepalmed and Sven rolled his eyes.
"Yes, I know. My fault for falling for a girl without a sense of danger," I murmured to Sven.
"Heard you dear!" Anna cheered and I bit my tongue.
We followed the bears to the stream. I glance at Anna seriously, there are two more bears hanging out on the stream. They were fishing and the little bear run off to the two.
Sven huffed and galloped behind a pile of huge rocks.
"So do you know who Kenai is?" Anna asked carefully and caught the attention of the bears.
The biggest and oldest looking one dropped the piece of fish from its mouth. It rose to two feet and approached Anna. Quickly I go in front of her as I'm afraid that the bear might hurt her.
"Don't you touch her beast," I hissed and the bear dropped back to four feet and looked at me like it was confused.
It was like the bear sighed before it turned its back at us and started going back to the stream where its pals were waiting.
"Please, the stone trolls wanted us to find him. We need help," Anna exhaled.
She made the bear stop and turn around. It came back to us, sat in directly to in front of us and kept staring at her.
"S-so... can you take us to Kenai?" Anna laughed nervously.
The bear nodded which made my jaw drop.
"Oh great!" Anna cheered like a communicating bear was nothing.
On the other hand... I thought when I saw Sven peeking from the safety.
"Where is this Kenai?" I questioned.
The bear growled and it seemed like it was smiling. Anna looks at me with confusion.
"Don't say that you think.." I mumbled.
Anna inhaled deeply and smiled a bit even though she seemed to be bothered by the idea we both just now shared.
"Could it be that... you're.. Kenai?" Anna gulped.
The bear huffed and growled, it kept nodding its head.
Anna's face went pale and she hold her hand in front of me. I couldn't say anything while I gave her the pouch from my waist. I just stared at the bear without blinking.
"T-they sent you this," Anna said quietly.
The bear took the pouch from her hands. It pushed its nose inside and started to dig around until the pouch was open. There were some herbs.
The bear looks over its shoulder, letting out few groans and roars to his friends which then reply. After that the bear ate the green herbs and in less than one minute weird sparks emerged from its body and a flash of bright light nearly blinded us.
Once we were able to look back at him again we saw a human instead of a bear. Kenai was a tall native looking and muscular man with black short hair.
The bears rushed to him and pushed against him before leaving. He laughed and petted them.
"So," Anna muttered.
Kenai opened his mouth and he roared which made us take couple steps back. Then he covered his mouth and shrugged while grinning in embarrassment.
"Sorry about that," Kenai said after he cleared his throat. He glanced over his shoulder to look at the direction where the bears left.
"Are you a human or a bear?" I questioned.
"Both I guess. I hope you are not hunters?" He frowned and we both shook our heads.
Then he chuckled, "Good because then I would have had to kill you to protect my family."
"They were your family!" Anna cheered and I clear my throat.
"Yeah, the small one was my cub, Kita. She is mine and Nita's who you saw with me at the stream. The young bear is having his teenage phase so you better not to angry him. He is considered as my brother, Koda," Kenai nodded.
"Oh they sound so nice," Anna exhaled in awe and I cleared my throat louder.
"Thank you Kristoff," Anna replied to my communications by sounding irritated.
"What do you need my help for? I have couple of days before I'm back as bear," Kenai asked friendly.
"I am in search of my sister with my husband Kristoff – and Sven who is still hiding over there," Anna pointed at the rocks. Slowly Sven appeared and started coming towards us but still kept looking at the bears a bit suspiciously while they were bathing in the stream.
"How long has she been gone?" Kenai questioned.
"Oh, too long!" Anna growled. "Stone trolls say that Jack Frost kidnapped her," she then added.
Kenai frowned. "Well, if he is with her finding them is easy. I just need to follow my nose," he wondered mysteriously but something in him seemed a bit alert.
"Is something wrong?" I asked after I saw his reaction.
"Well they are currently on a hostile area, that's where I picked up their scent. She smells a bit like you..," Kenai told us.
"Anna, my name is Anna and hers is Elsa," she smiled.
"Don't tell me that they are deep in some Witch Queen area which Pabbi mentioned," I sighed.
"That's how things are. We need to be careful and it seems like they're moving towards Arendelle which is not a good idea. The woods around there are dangerous," Kenai explained as he began walking.
We followed after him.
"How long will it take for us to catch up with them," Anna insisted to know.
"Well we're two days behind them as they had some help by a dragon and some portal devices which guardians use. We're only on our foot," Kenai explained and then Sven huffed angrily.
"—And a reindeer but you can't carry us all Sven," Kenai chuckled and patted Sven's nose.
"A dragon!" Anna exhaled.
"Yes. You don't know about them I guess?" Kenai questioned.
"No...we came from the side without magic," I responded.
Kenai was quiet for a moment and then he looks over to the sky. "Now it started then," he whispered.
"What started?" Anna asked immediately.
Kenai looks over his shoulder, there's no single trace of smile on his face anymore. "Soon we will see if everything will be consumed by darkness and Nightlight has a huge role in it as stone trolls must have told you. The Witch Queens were only the start of something big but the series of events which are about to happen will tell us the unavoidable outcome," his voice sounded sad.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized what he had meant. He was worried about his family, what would happen to them when evil starts to rule.
POV Jack
It didn't long for Hiccup to get his dragon geared up for the flight. He would fly us to the mountains of Arendelle but then we would be on our own.
"Are you ready Jack?" Hiccup asked and I glance to Elsa.
Toothless can only fly Hiccup and one extra passenger at a time. That's why I'm the first one to go so Elsa would have someone there to meet up with when she arrives.
"Yeah I am... Keep her safe Merida," I nod to the fierce redhead who just winks her eye and waves her hand.
I climb on top of Toothless behind Hiccup. My hands go around his waist just before Toothless takes off.
"You've had some trouble with flying?" Hiccup shouted through the strong winds.
"Yes, my powers are practically gone," I shouted back.
"Too bad, it is like nothing is like it used to be," he yelled.
Toothless spins in the air and rushes through a fluffy looking cloud. Hiccup is steering him by the device attached to his tail. Without Hiccup Toothless wouldn't fly at all because of an accident it had some years back.
I close my eyes and enjoy the feeling of the cool winds on my skin. Gosh I've missed this, flying across the sky without anything to worry. Hopefully things can go back to the way they were before soon.
Hiccup landed down and I must admit that dragons were a fast transportation method. I hopped off and I look at the Viking chief who seems much older than the years he actually has lived. People in here have sure dealt with lots of things.
"Thank you Hicc," I smiled.
The snow blanket which covered the mountain felt nice under my bare feet.
"You two should be careful around here Jack, even Toothless is scared of one of those witches - the one with ability to turn into a dragon," Hiccup told me.
I nod to him, "We will be."
"Don't betray my trust," Hiccup hissed before he took off with Toothless.
Now I was left alone in the mountain. I decided to sit down so I wouldn't be so easy to spot. My eyes look around and I see a small patch of forest down the hill. There we would head out once Elsa gets in here, the trees would cover us well.
I watch at the sky where the clouds are drifting on a clear blue background. My breathe steams in the cool air and I kill some time by doing a small lantern out of snowballs. Just when I finished it I hear the strong flapping winds of a dragon.
Quickly I dig myself into the snow before I look out what dragon it possibly was. A larger dragon than Toothless with black scales flies over me. This must be the witch.
I just remain still, hoping that Hiccup won't run into the witch.
Gladly it just passed the site I was at and I came out from the snow. It feels good to know that it wasn't searching around for anything, otherwise it might have noticed the footprints on the otherwise so virgin like hill.
I grabbed some snow from the ground so I could do another lantern but then I heard a familiar set of wings. It was Hiccup and Toothless, I saw a glimpse of Elsa's platinum blonde braid flickering behind them as they flew.
They landed after a short while and Elsa hopped down.
"Sorry that it took longer. Toothless hid us in a cave when he noticed the witch dragon flying at the nearby," Hiccup explained.
"Yeah, I saw it too," I agreed. Elsa was giving her goodbyes to Toothless.
"Goodbye, I need to go back to Merida. It isn't safe anywhere in these days," Hiccup frowned and then urged Toothless to fly back to the sky.
Soon they were just a black dot in the horizon. The calm moment was interrupted by Elsa's slight squeal which made me to look back at her. Her face was showing clear signs of excitement, she had a slight flush on her cheeks.
"Jack!" She cheered which made me flinch. "You could fly like that? It was amazing!" She exhaled.
"Y-yeah but for now I really can't because--," I started to explain.
"Can you take me to fly again!" She gasped with a wide smile drawn to her red lips.
"Umm.. if I get my powers back to the way there way...," I mumbled and then I flashed a smile, "—probably?"
Suddenly she made this tiny squeaking sound and run towards me. Her body slammed against mine when she jumped. Her whole bodyweight was now on me and I felt how my balance went off. I tried to regain my balance by replacing my footing but it was too late.
Quickly I wrapped my arms around her body and I closed my eyes. She made us fall and then we slid down the hill as if I was her sleigh. I needed to cover her mouth with my other hand when she screamed.
That was when we hit to something. Striking pain went through me like a lightning bolt and then with a 'puff'' we were covered by some light and soft powder snow from the feel of it.
"J-Jack.. I'm alive, are you?" Elsa whispered and I felt her slipping off from my grip as she got up.
"MMhmm..." I managed to reply as I sat up. The back of my head was still pulsing after it hit into something.
"I'm so sorry," she gasped and took my hand and pulled me to sit even better.
I opened my eyes but I was amazed that I couldn't see a thing.
"Wow, it is already night," I whispered.
"Umm... no?" Elsa wondered.
"It is dark so we were passed out or something," I insisted.
"Eh, no.. The sun is clearly up and ---," Elsa explained and then she began to gasp.
"I ... I can't see?" I gulped.
She let go of my hand and then I felt her soft fingers on my cheeks.
"Jack, don't panic. T-the doctor said that if you hit your head you might lose your sight for a little while," she tried to convince me.
I kept on breathing in and out. "But he said that I might lose it for good... what if?" I said quietly.
"No.. No you won't," she said quickly.
I felt something cold against the back of my head. Her hands had gone behind my neck, the effect was easing the pulsing feeling in my head and I closed my eyes.
"Okay... this feels good," I mumbled and my hands searched the ground. They traveled from my legs to her knees as she was sitting on my lap and then up to her waist.
Once I opened my eyes I saw gray fog and I blinked few times. First I saw her neck and down to the cleavage on her dress. My cheeks warmed up and I quickly tilt my head up and I see her face.
Slowly she places her hands back to my cheeks and I put my hands to her wrists which I squeeze lightly.
"Y-you can see me again?" She stuttered and I nod my head.
She let her hands go down and then she got up.
"That's good... so now you can take me to Arendelle's castle?" She insisted.
"Uh, yeah I guess so," I replied to her when I managed to get up.
She flashed me a smile and began to walk to the wrong direction.
"Castle is on that way," I say while pointing my finger deeper into the forest. We had slid the whole way down the hill and then crashed against a tree trunk.
"Oh! So lead the way," she laughed nervously.
I did as she told and I was getting us through the forest. The old trees grew really high, we couldn't see their tips.
"Is it still far away? I really need to get this over with, you know that Anna misses me and I want to go back," Elsa whined behind me.
"To be honest I have no idea, I haven't been walking around the forest in this area at all," I told her.
"Aha, like you flew above them?" Elsa said sarcastically.
"Exactly," I sighed. Girls were sometimes so tricky to handle, their emotions wander all over the place like I've noticed with other girls as well. And baby snow was no exception when she grew up.
"Hey! I wanna bet that there even are no paintings that tie me up to that castle. Perhaps you lied about it and try to scare me," Elsa insisted all of a sudden.
"Sure so what do we bet on baby snow?" I questioned.
"What food do you hate the most?" She grinned deviously.
"Haggis... I used to have relatives in Scotland when I was human," I muttered.
"You have to eat that," she chuckled and made me pout.
I saw the end of the forest getting closer.
"Then if I win the bet you have to eat yellow snow," I laughed which made her frown.
"F-fine but there's no way I'm losing since you like to play with people anyway," she snapped.
Suddenly she gasped when she walked out from the forest. When I went next to her I couldn't help not to smile, she was amazed while she stared at the castle. She was still in doubt that this was her kingdom which she fled from.
"We can really walk inside the castle?" She whispered.
I shrugged, "Why not?"
"Well because it is a castle," she said sarcastically which made me chuckle.
"I know few ways inside that make sure people won't see you," I explained to her.
"Me?" She said curiously.
"Unfortunately people don't believe in me in the town so they won't see me anyway," I smiled faintly before I began to head towards the town. In silence we continued our way, I had told her not to speak with me or she would seem like a crazy girl talking to herself.
I noticed the townsfolk being really anxious looking. Like they were cornered animals or like robots who had to function every day. Also they seemed like they were starving.
"Are you sure," Elsa whispered, "—that this might be my kingdom. Your case seems a bit lost now."
I didn't tell her anything. The weight of the note inside my pocket felt overwhelming at this point. Perhaps we should turn back while we still can. Before she finds out the truth.
"Jack, why won't you say anything," she paused at the bridge that led inside castle walls.
She seemed to be afraid by the looks of the abandoned castle. I give my hand out and slowly she reaches to it.
Now I had decided.
"C'mon," I whispered and I took a step towards the castle.
"Then I can go to Anna?" She whispered and glanced at the castle and then at me.
"Then you can go to Anna," I lied.
This time I won't let them down. I need to take her inside the castle. Then this will be over.
A/N:
Here's another update! Next update is after two weeks since we're going to visit some relatives in Stockholm Sweden next week. Elsa's cousin is graduating... lol.. they have like 18 years age difference xD.
Oh! Which parts of the world are you guys from? I'm from Finland as some of you know.
And... any comments of the chapter? I promise that there will be some unexpected plot twists happening quite soon.
I created a new oneshot book called: Come with me . It has my newest OTP KAYAME (Kurusu x Ayame from Koutetsujou no Kabaneri). Are you watching the show?
Also I would like to mention that my heart is aching when I see that JELSA is getting less and less interesting to people but..oh well, for me it always stays as a big OTP <3 . Even though I plan to stop writing fanfics of them.... but I will return with them in 2018 when Frozen 2 is out which I 'm sure of. And.. if Elsa gets a Disney prince/king in that movie.... well... you know... I can always murder of that guy and hitch Elsa up with Jack *crazy laughter*.
