(3) Flyer

-

My work day has continued, proving to be relatively easy.
Carson and Anna are there to help me if I mess up, and everyone that has come in so far have been super nice.

I'm working the cash register when Anna strolls out of the kitchen. She sweeps an order in front of me.

"One hot chocolate, one golden flower tea, and two cinnamon bunnies!" Anna says excitedly.

I look at her, deeply confused.

"But no one has ordered anything for the past half hour." I state, a puzzled look on my face.

Anna beams, before shaking a finger in front of my face, like a mother scolding a child.

"But! In a few minutes, the elementary lets out! And we have a special person that comes here after school!" She replies.

"Ok." I say simply.

In less then a few hours, I have learned that Anna always has a reason for what she says. She also says she has a photographic memory. That quirk really helped me with taking orders for customers. So, I don't question her.

"W-What time is it?" Carson asks from the other room.

"What? Are you hoping someone comes with them~?" Anna cooes back.

"No! The kid is j-just nice! W-What's not to be excited about?"

"Fair point. It's 2:45! They should be here any minute!" Anna exaims happily.

Then she seems to remember something, and she runs into the kitchen. I simply sit, eyeing the door.

Anna comes rushing back out, what seems to be a newspaper in her hand. She waves it in my face, and forces in my arms.

"Read this. Call it... A hint." Anna says. She winks mischeviously, before strutting back into the kitchen.

I begin to read it, growing even more curious as I process the print. I start about half way through, were someone marked it with a red marker.

Ebbot Weekly

It turns out that...

Long Long ago,
Two races ruled the earth.
Humans
And
Monsters.

Is this a joke? Carson did say monsters, but wasn't he kidding?

One day, a war broke out between the two races.
After a long battle...
The humans were victorious.
They sealed the monsters underground with a magic spell.

Ok, seriously. What the heck is this? This is the legend. I have already heard this.

Many years later. . .

A child falls down.

The child's name was Frisk.
Frisk discovered they had a power called determination, only found in humans.

This isn't part of the legend...

Frisk, filled with their Determination, went through the Underground.

They spared every single monster, showing unwavering kindness to the foreign beasts.
Frisk claims to have shattered the barrier, using their DT.

Not even the monsters can fathom how this was possible.

Today, the monsters have rejoined us on the surface.

What will we do now?

I Finnish reading, before checking the date. Sure enough, It reads March 18, 2018. Just last weekend, because it is currently March 25.

I turn the next page. This is Bull-crap. Do they really expect people to believe this?

My breath catches in my throat.

On the page is a picture.

It seems to be a group picture, with a lot of different... People? They even went through the effort of copying it, and taping it in, instead of just printing it there. Now there is no way to call it fake.

In the middle of the picture is a small child. They have on a bright pink tutu and ballet shoes. Around them is a Ghost, a robot, two goat monsters, two skeletons, and a flower... With a face!?! No, No, NoNoNoNoNo No...

"What the Hell!?!" I whisper/shout to myself.

"I know, right? And there are a lot more where those came from! I've seen 'em, too!" Anna blabbers excitedly.

Anna talks about Grillby's, which is apparently run by a man made entirely of fire. While she talks, I am simply processing this information.

"Flowey, Biting is wrong!" Came a sudden voice from outside.

"I DON'T CARE!!!" Another, high pitched voice screeches.

"Aaand they're here!~" Anna chirps excitedly.

The door opens, and three figures enter the cafe.

One is a tall figure, and turns out to be a goat type monster. Or maybe a cow? I can't really tell.

She has on a purple robe, with an official looking symbol on the front. The sleeves extend down, connecting to the bottom like some old fashioned "Swan Lake" costume. Tiny horns poke out from behind long, fuzzy ears. Her arm is around the next figure.

Her feet are large and fluffy, all of her features giving off a snuggly, motherly air. Her eyes are a sparkling purplish red, but hold kindness.

The next figure is very tiny. He... She... They? They. They seem to be only 7 or 8 years old. Probably 3rd grade. They are wearing a blue sweater, with two purple stripes towards the bottom.

Under those are matching blue shorts, and brown leggings. Over the shorts they have a frilly pink tutu, and on the bottom they have pink ballet shoes, wrapping all the way around their ankles.

The last figure isn't really a figure, but a flower. It looks to be a buttercup.

Then it moves.

The flower turns its head, revealing an annoyed looking face. It... No he, is the source of that unholy screech. A biter then? The child sprayed it with a spray bottle. This made me laugh, internally of course.

"Hey Miss Toriel, Frisk, Flowey." Anna says, growing a little bitter with the last name.

Carson shoves his way put of the kitchen, immerging to greet the newcomers.

"Hey guys! T-The usual?" Carson asks. The child nods.

Carson walks to me, picking up the pre-prepared order. Instead of taking it, though, he hands it to me.

"You t-take it, so you can meet them!"

"Oh! O-ok!" I stutter back.

Darn. I have to meet more new people.

Though, if Carson is ok, then I'm sure I'll be fine. It's not like I have to dance in front of them. Because I suck at dancing. And no, I'm not just saying that. My forte is more on the singing or guitar side of things. Not that I would do that in front of anyone, either.

I have stage fright.

Like, BIG TIME.

I shimmy the order onto the palm of my hand, carrying the tray over. Anna seems to light up at my approach.

"Oh! Good! Guys, this is Daisy, she's new to the cafe. Michin's niece!" Anna shows me off proudly. I flush red, not occustomed to the attention.

"Hello my child, I am Toriel!" The goat/cow, Toriel, says kindly. I smile.

"H-Hi."

"Oh, and this is Flowey..." She adds, tone a little bitter.

Suddenly small hands fly up in front of me, moving rabidly. It looks like sign language, and I catch a few words. Words like "meet" and "hi". But otherwise, I am left with a confused expression.

"Oh sorry, this is Frisk. They speak sign language." Anna explains. I nod, looking down at Frisk.

"Hi there F-Frisk!" I say. They beam at me.

"Daisy! Can you help me real quick!" A voice calls from the kitchen. Probably Michin.

"Sure th-thing! One second Michin!" I turn back to face Frisk, Toriel, and Flowey.

"Sorry, I have to go. It was nice meeting you!" I say. Flowey glares.

"The feelings are not mutual skin-bag." Flowey says. I cringe under his glare, quickly retreating to the kitchen.

"What's up?" I say, pushing through the doors.

"Oh, I need help carrying these papers upstairs. Can you grab that stack?"

"Sure thing!"

I grab the tall stack of papers, that must be at least up to my knees. Me an Michin make are way to the stairs, stepping up them with no problems.

We both make it upstairs, and I set down the stack. A paper on top catches my eye, and I examine the flyer.
