Slave

She found herself in a state she never knew she would be in. She could see nothing, hear nothing, and of course, say nothing. Everything was weird. It was as if she was in a distant world, staring at darkness from far away. That's when she realized she was locked in a dark room. The worst part about it? it was silent.

She couldn't breathe properly. Every time she inhaled, it was an effort. She tried to get up, but there was something holding her back. That's when she realized - she was chained to the wall.

She panicked, trying to break away the chains, trying to get back on her feet. But none of that worked. Exhausted, she finally gave in.

That's when she heard him coming. She heard his footsteps, and noticed that he dragged his feet as he walked. There was something wrong with his leg - he was limping. The man entered the room, and the room finally had some light. Trying to adjust her eyes to the now lit room, she saw him.

He was just like her - his brown eyes, his hair tied back in a ponytail. She resembled him so much it looked like the man was her father.

Her father. The way the man looked at her, as if his eyes would pierce through her - the same way her father did. Anne remembered her father. She couldn't remember what he looked like, but she remembered his gruff voice, the way he looked at her - like he wanted her to die.

The man finally spoke, looking into Anne's dark eyes. 'You've grown up a lot, my child.'

Anne looked the man, startled - how did he know who she was?

'I have been looking for you for so long.' The man allowed himself a smirk. 'I thought I lost you. But I didn't. Did I?' He looked at Anne, chained to the wall, staring back at him with hatred in her eyes. There was fire burning in her heart. She hated this man.

'I suppose you want to talk to me. Let's put this on.' He put a thing around her neck that resembled a choker made of thick metal. Let me go. Anne thought. Please.

Anne heard a computer's voice speak her thoughts.

'Thought translator. And yes, I'll let you go.' The man replied, a twinkle in his eyes. He looked so happy. Anne wanted to chain that man to the wall like he did. The man laughed.

'I am afraid you can't do that.' The man said softly, removing the chains from her hands. Anne was finally free. So she ran.

The man didn't follow. Why didn't he?
