Interview

CHAPTER 11

Demi's POV

To say that we got mobbed, would be an understatement. We took three steps out of the car and couldn't even get back in. The paparazzi was everywhere. They knew Mac's name, they were screaming things. I was holding Mac while Jason took the lead with Max behind us. I heard police sirens in the distance. Suddenly one paparazzi yelled, "Hey Mac is it true your dad killed your mom?" Which literally made my blood boil. Mac clung to me harder. I turned to scream at the guy but Max was there with a hand around my waist. "Just keep walking. He's not worth it and responding will give him what he wants." Max muttered in my ear. I sulked and kept walking, soon we were in the mall which went no more paparazzi but still a lot of fans. I wanted to go meet them, I really did. But the paparazzi's comments to Mac left me in such a bad mood, I wouldn't be much fun to meet. Speaking of Mac.. "Hey babygirl you okay in there?" A tiny nod. That's it. Then I realized that I didn't have a clue where to shop for kids. This is going to be tough.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By the time we got home it was four thirty. Mac was dead on her feet and we had more shopping bags than I could count on both hands and feet. Jason was surprisingly useful. He had a four year old nephew and he always bought his clothes so Jason knew where all of the stores were. We left the boys downstairs and I carried Mac to her room. About to take a nap with her I realized that I had a phone interview with 106.1 BLI at five. I was so drained and I didn't feel like telling them a tousand times that I was private and that I'm not telling them anything about Mac. My publicist had coached me on how to avoid the question. And if they kept bringing it up, to just pull out the privacy thing. I washed the cereal bowls form this morning and thanked Jason and Max. Then, my interview phone rang. Yes I have two phones, three if you count international. I can't have all of these radio stations knowing my personal. "Hello?" I answered. "Demi! Hey! Dayna here with all of our listeners on 106.1 BLI" The interviewer said. "Hey guys! How are you?" I said brightly into the phone. "We're good over here. I heard you had a little run in with the paparazzi earlier today, you doin' okay?" Dayna said. "Yeah i'm good. The paparazzi are just people who need to learn respect and personal space. They're really rude." I probably shouldn't say stuff like this. Rebecca (My publicist) is going to kill me. "Well we also heard of a little rumor we hoped you would clear up." Here it comes. I laughed. "Oh yeah? What's that?" "Well we heard that you have added a little girl to your family. Is this true?" The interviewer said. "Uhmm, so my new single Skyscraper is out and it's a great song!" I stalled. Smooth Demi. Real smooth. "Oh c'mon no changing the subject." She pressed. "Well I think that because I choose to show so much of my vulnerable side to the public I do like to have a private life, but Mac is a really huge part of my life, and when we are both ready, I'll tell the world." I explained hoping they would get the hint. "Okay, Okay we get it. But since you brought it up, hows the new single going?" I nearly sighed in relief but ended up choking a little. "Uhm it's going really good, I'm so blessed to be able to have this job and this voice not just singing but in society. I can make a difference." I said. "Well It looks like you are definitely making a difference Demi, We looked up some statistics and it seems that since it's release, teen suicide rates have gone down 28%. That's so crazy!" "I actually didn't know that! Honestly it's all so inspiring with the amount of support that I get every day from so many people. I just really want to show people and teens that they're not alone. And that I am a living breathing example that they can get through it. Not just another statistic on a chart." I said. "Well that's wonderful Demi. We're all so proud of you and thanks for taking the time to talk to us over here!" Dayna closed the interview. "No problem! I love talkin' to you guys! Have a great day!" "You too."

       I. Am. Beat. I basically sleep walked up the stairs, set an alarm for 6:20 PM and fell into bed with Mac. The petite form turned and molded herself into me in her sleep. We are a perfect fit.
